Max Drive Help & Questions Thread

just bought action replay max with free max drive and i having a few problems.it wont load up.i put the game in the disc tray and it says please insert a playstation or playstation 2 disc.i bought this from virtual reality and i have tried it round my friends it works there ive tried it on the side and nothing is different.i went back to virtual reality to see what is wrong they took my playstation and tried it it worked what the hell is happening what is wrong!please really need your help as i got it for a b'day present.

Use a DVD lens cleaner if you still have problems then maybe your lens is offset.

There is a different device that works on US PS2s, as posted somewhere earlier in this thread. Not sure which one you'd need for a NTSC:J one.

Few months back, my girlfriend's sister who's currently in Glasgow ordered a Max Drive from Play.com for me.

But until today, the thing has yet to arrive at her place. She's in Lanarkshire, I'm not sure whether that's a town or what, because I'm from Malaysia.

She has checked with Play and they said the item has been sent.
Checked with her bank, the money has been deducted.

As she is busy with her studies and all, she decided not to pursue the case any further. Yet.

She said that the Royal Mail is notorious for screwing up things or something like that. Is it true?
In other words, her theory is - maybe some Royal Mail employee took the item.

Hi. It could maybe be a case of you accidentally trying to load the pc disk on the ps2 which is quite common so try again with the ps2 disk. Otherwise try standing the ps2 on its side.

One of you should email play.com to let them know about this. In some cases I've read about they will just post another one out to the same address. Ask her to forward the email they sent her which confirmed that it had been posted as it should contain all the codes needed and you can send this back to play.com for confirmation.

Max Drive and the Slim PS2

I know this question has probably been asked to death (so please don't stone me) but isn't there some issue with the 'slim' PS2 and the Max Drive disc? I can't get the disc to 'read' on my slim PS2...and I've tried everything. It reads fine on my brother's old fat console...

Very frustrating. Any help, most welcome.

my memory then became corrupt after using the max drive. It saysd that there are only 232kb left and that theres no data! wtf??

Thanks, after a couple of resets it finally works and now my ps2 reads the disc every time! :S

I have the same problem as a few guys earlier...

I have xp home and i insert my maxdrive into all my usb ports it recognises it as a generic USB flash USB device, i go to my computer and it has not been assigned a drive, so i go onto my other pc still it does the same. Now my maxdrive used to work, about 3 months ago i decided to format my pc because it was getting clogged, before that it worked perfectly comeing up as maxdrive and being assigned drive F but now it isnt.

Ive asked on a number of forums and i still havnt had any help really... I dont think it's broken because A) It WAS working befor i formated my pc and B) it is recognised on the pc and the ps2.

could anyone please help?

i try to drop and drag pes5 option file v1.but it wont come into the max drive box.ive tried nearly everything and it still wont work please please can i have some help as im not that happy

You must copy and paste the file which is a .MAX.
Copying the zip file will not work. This has been mentioned many times already. What is the full name of the file you are trying to transfer?


Looks like zipping up files to reduce their size is causing more complications than it should. Maybe we'll have to upload the file in their proper form.

I downloaded the Xbox option files from your filefront site but when I try to move them onto my MaxDrive it says they are not valid save files.

They are all XBX files with the exception of one XSV file.

Am I just missing something really obvious?

ive got a max drive and wanted to ask a few questions?

1. i down loaded a load of bagdes from pesfan but i don't know what to do next ie; how to transfer them from my pc to my option file for the ps2?
2. do i need a program to do this?
3. if so where from?

Thers no way I can get MAX Drive because Theres no way my dad will let me anywhere near his credit card, as hes so scared of internet fraud and You can never find that anywhere in the shops I tried when I got pro evo 4, dont sell it anywhere.

Is there any kind of Action Replay you could buy where you could transfer it.

I have a PS2 max drive and have downloaded one of the PES FAN option files. I transfer it to my max drive but when I load up my PS2 software, it shows the memory stick as empty. What can I do? Is there a special way to transfer it cos I have tried everything.

timo the owl - maybe you should ask where you got them? You can't import badges using a max drive; they could be for the pc version or used as a guide for you to make them in edit mode. You need to just download the updated option file and transfer that using the max drive.

VerbalWhale - Yes you can use that. It's been mentioned a few times in this thread so check through it for more details and links.

mike4752 - Been answered many multiple times. Unzip the file so you have a .MAX file on your max drive. Max drive can only access .max files and not zipped files. Once that's done, use the Uncrush option and it'll be transferred.
