Medieval 2: Total War [PC]

I've Just finished the work on my Medieval mod for the original game and have finally had a chance to play the game again but I just end up fighting a colonial battle of some sort with the Spanish against the Aztecs or a Portuguese army against an Almohad army made up of African Units.

Heres a tip you should try for carnage. Set a siege battle with just city requirements. Have a small but well disciplined and upgraded spanish army against a horde of Aztecs. Give the Aztecs one ladder. The whole mob will attempt to storm the walls but the A.I is so shit they won't attempt to come back down the ladder unless routed. I moved my organ gun and a culverin outside the gate and within a few yards from the enemy and just blasted away causing hundreds of casualties. They just stood there and took it until my cannon brought a piece of the wall section down taking a few of men but hundreds more Indians to a well deserved death. That was it, they ran with their general being hacked down by some artillery men who ran in to complete the victory. Some mounted Conquistadors finished off the survivors.

I have yet to play with the Aztecs and the Spaniards. I'm going to do it tonight and will take some snapshots. I'll set up a nice map with a small fort, garrison it with a couple of fully upgraded troops and have them repel a large force of Aztecs, as you did, but i'll give them a few ladders and a battering ram. :ninja:

The morale the aztecs have are just insane but I have the best battles with them. I can't wait for the expansion with the Mayans and Texan/Northern Mexican Tribes. Its just a shame the Inca's haven't made it.

Wouldn't it be great if the Aztecs could climb the steps to the temple in the middle square of the Mesoamerican cities? Christ that would be sweet. Seeing them make their last gallant stand as I laugh manically behind the computer as I bring up 4 culverins to smash the shit out of them

Happy days indeed

Same here. Although having read a review here and there, it seems they put very little time into perfecting the game and it's flaws such as the AI of the men fighting in city battles.

The Americas campaign I'm looking forward to the most. The Apache look very good, I just hope the Mayans are as visually good. I hope they are not simple colour changes from Aztec skins as that would seriously piss me off.

By the way Muad here are some pics of the some of the Crusader Campaign. Some of the units sound complete wank mind:

I think that might just be mercenaries, Muad. Although it has a relatively low upkeep compared to other units.

Whats the best Ram and graphics card thing to play this game can somebody tell me? And whats the minimum to play it without it being utter shite?

You need at least 1GB of RAM and a 256MB graphics card.

I have a 2.6 Athlon, which is capable of running the game, but i can't use the Shader 2 settings, which means no shadows whatsoever.

That would suck.

I don't want to believe it. Salah Al-Din's troops were mostly from the region that is now Syria, were they not?

They better not be Egyptian, 'cause that would be cheap and gay.

I think the factions in the Crusader Campaign are Byzantium, Turks, Principality of Antioch. Kingdom of Jerusalem. Mongols and Mamluks

Barry Sepulchre is the normal spelling but I have seen it spelt Sepulcher

Got it today lads. While the new units largely suck shaft, I'm happy to say that gameplay wise its brilliant. I've been addicted to the Americas campaign, which is the pick of the bunch easily. Playing as the Mayans, and the Spanish are gone, but the fleets of New France have recently docked and I fear for my men's shafts.

Good news then. Still have to get it, was out today but it wasn't there, shopkeeper said to check back Monday.

About the original, is it me or is Jerusalem the only city that gets a crusade ordered upon them? Only once I've seen Antioch being crusaded upon.

I think it is likely, Salah Al-Din is listed as a hero of the Egyptians in the game if I'm not mistaken. The Seljuk Turks and Nur Ad-Din controlled Syria (I think?) so they might be able to make those units. Either that or they are mercenaries, methinks.

Just bought it, actually the Syrian Militia are available to the Kingdom of Jerusalem and the Principality of Antioch Muad.

Can't wait to play it, but this computer cannot handle Medieval II so I'll have to wait till Saturday. But the good news is that I can play the original Medieval on this one.
