PC Troubleshooting Thread (PES 2008 ONLY)

1. Have you tried running it windowed rather than full screen? We have someone on here who can play it fine windowed but not full screen.

2. Is your firewall in the background waiting for you to grant PES 2008 internet permissions? The prompt will go away if you force PES to close, the only way to see it is to ALT-TAB to the desktop/firewall alert.

3. Are your graphics drivers up-to-date?

4. What OS are you using?

played fifa for almost ten years, bought this because of ea's terrible servers, ive now had the game a week and still cant play online! Im guessing its konami...ive read all the posts here, followed all instructions and still no joy. I can log in, see the rooms, create a room but dam it I cant play.....Back to fifa me thinks!!

This will sound weird but i did try exiting the game through alt- tab- delete however its just seems to freeze.my graphics drivers are up to date and im using xp as my os

PC wont play disk

I just got Pro Evo Soccer 2008 today and put the disk in the drive and the icon for disc appeared on the cursor but then nothing happens. I have tries twenty plus times and every time nothing happens.
So I tried some other games including Pro Evo Soccer 2007 and EVERY ONE worked fine!

Is there anything I can try to get it to work?
Or should I just return it to Amazon, as faulty?

I tried to use the library pc to test the disk in another pc ,but they wouldnt let me.

What OS are you using? Ideally try it in a friend's PC or something. If you can't get another computer to try it in, return it as faulty.

I can't think of any issues which either XP or Vista would have. Have you tried going into My Computer and checking to see if you can access the files on the drive? With autoplay disabled (hold down the left Shift key in XP as soon as the DVD is put in and let go after about five secons), it should simply allow you to navigate the contents and run the installer manually rather than the installation menu.

hi ive to bought the version from amazon and after 2 hours nothings working it keeps freezing before a game has started do you think theres something wrong with amazons versions ?

Every time I finished scan in an image file and edited/saved the player, it doesn't work after I quit then restart PES08.

After restart the edited player's head/skin is always black without facial details, and the imputed(scanned) faces are lost. won't show up again even if I reload the edited data,etc.

anyone else noticed this?

problem loading edits

Every time I finished scan in an image file and edited/saved the player, it doesn't work after I quit then restart PES08.

After restart the edited player's head/skin is always black without facial details, and the imputed(scanned) faces are lost. won't show up again even if I reload the edited data,etc.

yes i have the same problem. i can see the saved .bin file in the the konami saved folder but somehow the game just doesnt detect it. so everytime i restart the game all the scanned faces are gone.

also everything that has been edited such as team names and stuff are not there when the game is restarted. i need to go to edit and select load for the changes to come back. but it disappears again if i restart the game. however the scanned faces still do not appear.

pls help. it sucks to spend so much time scanning faces and editing to find out its not there. the 1st post explains that theres a problem but doesnt really give a solution. or maybe i just dont understand it. someone pls enlighten me...

hey dude.. i finally found the solution. im not sure if its in this forum but somehow the problem is that if you use keyboard only, it interferes with loading your saved files. so u either need to plug in a gamepad which will solve the problem entirely (surprisingly) and your scanned face and edits will be loaded when the game starts. or you could download a program that makes a virtual joystick in ur computer. details and download links are here: http://forums.evo-web.co.uk/showthread.php?t=44223

its sad how the many bugs in setting the game up plus the music are letting down the very very good gameplay!

I got my face working like this.

First I did facescan and save it in editing part. Then I go to system settings and save current data. When I exit and then come back, game starts without asking which level u want to play(beginner and so on).

Funny part is, that it worked about 6 times. Today when I started the game, it asked me again, which level I want to play, so I knew, my face was gone. Did the same thing again which I wrote first, and now it is again working. Without loading any editing files or system files. And tried about four times.

Dont know why it was working yesterday many times when I just started the game and then exit, or played one ML and exit and came back. And some reason this morning everything was gone again, but after doing that saving again, now its working. At least its working now some time.

my pes is now working however it only allows me to play on a windowed screen and when i revert to full screen mode it freezes i cant understand why this is happening as my graphics card meets the recommended spec is there any way of getting full screen mode ?

Same Problem here.
Using DirectX 9.0c (November redistribute) & nVidia drivers 162.18
Do you use a different versions?

nope i am currently using direct x 9.0c with the latest ati catalyst driver for the x800 howver it still wont let me play on full screen

If your both getting the same issue on totally different GFX cards then it must be a software conflict. Turn off all non-essential background tasks and services via a clean boot procedure to see if the game works fine like that. If it does then you have something running in the background interfering with PES and the fullscreen option.

That's good to know.
At least now I can eliminate nVidia as the cause.
I'm using nVidia 7600GT. I work in single display mode and I tried on both my CRT (1024x768 & 1152x768) & my LCD (1360x768)

Do you have any hardware/software you suspect?

@laxandro i have just tried to turn off all my un essential programs however again when i divert to full screen mode it still doesn't work. it does however work on 1024*740 resolution on a windowed 16:9 screen which is quite weird.

Also just wondering could it be something which is Microsoft related as after doing the complete boot they were the only programs still activated?

Hi Qas, thanks for the input. I'll try to do the same when I get home. I'll also disable unnecessary services to see if that helps.
Regarding resolutions, I already tried most of them. All worked in window mode. All failed in full screen...

Er are you guys using a widescreen ? Might be an issue with the resolutions on WS . Im currently playing on 1280x1024 with no problem, so let us know if its that.
