The game is amazing on the pc. I am using an x-box360 controller.
The online play needs to be sorted.
and how about some proper injuries? Heads split open with bandages?

Just traded Pes 2008 for pes 6 and have to say im impressed with pes 6 my 1st game online brought a smile to my face, this is how i remember pes and how it should be.Tried ever so hard to like pes 2008 but the list of faults is endless.I think the biggest fault is the pace of the players and how they cant be caught, making defending a nightmare hence the high scoring games online. Its far to arcadey for my liking and gets boring very quickly.I just wish they would sort out an easy way of setting up a league online it cant be that bloody hard now can it! Big miss for me

is there any lag with pes6? or is it lag free.

as I mainly bought 2008 for online play and it was the most upto date edition on pc.

It was a real anti-climax! The lag issue was enough for me. The Ai once again is poor and the team vision thing never existed.

Lag free for me after about 50 odd games on the 360,dont know about pc version. The only lag i get is when the goalie places the ball for a goal kick which is no problem at all.

Is there any sign that Konomi are going to sort out the fucking abysmal online mode. Laggy like fuck on most games. I really like pro evo but they had better sort out 2008 before they release another version.

I dont want to have to see into the future to plan my moves on pro evo.
the graphice are great and all that. but I get bored with single player mode.

Online lag.
Bad SD (ooh, sorry for owning a normal TV) compatibility.
Stuttering gameplay (SCEE -"not hardware". Konami -"Not software") buck passing mo fo's.
Appaliing soundtrack.

Bring Back PES 5 or even 3! That was a playable game.

Trading in for Wipeout HD (if the shop will do such a trade)

PES6 is lag free if your connection is pretty good, which is why it's hard to understand why PES2008 is so shit online, makes no sense at all. I own PES6 and PES2008 for the Xbox 360, and PES6 is where it is at online, I only use PES2008 for single player modes.

No chance of the lag being sorted, the game has been out for about 8 months and there has been absolutely no sign of Konami even giving a toss. Which has resulted in many debates hoping that PES is only released every 2 years if it means it will be a quality game.

crap crap crap

Could someone please please explain to me why the gameplay on the PC version is so pathetically flawed???? I'm not a great player, but after a few weeks of practice I can win leagues fairly comfortably on the hardest difficulty on previous versions of PES, so I'm fairly decent. But this version is just so infuriatingly bad it makes my blood boil and it has little to do with my ability.

1) Positioning - I've been playing football games since FIFA World Cup 98 and I must say PES2008 has by far the worst positioning AI of players I've ever come across. Strikers and centre forwards are rarely in the centre. They make runs through the centre of the defence and go right to the sidelines and stay there. What's the effing point?? Wide players are always wandering inside leaving opposition wingers totally free. I have to manually set them to mark them aggressively to fix that problem. But i should not be made to do that. Plenty of other examples which happen very regularly. It's the worst thing about PES 2008.

2) Crossing and lobbing - Crossing from the sidelines is hopeless. Again it's a rare treat just to notice that you have players waiting for the cross in the 6 yard box. It's rarer still when the cross is actually decent, and it's not underhit or overhit or gifted to the gk. I'm not asking my player to meet the ball everytime - just for him to be there and for the winger to put a decent ball in atleast 6 times out of 10. Nope - won't happen. And what's the deal with crossing along the ground? Why does it always have to be a cutback pass? It should just go horizontally along the ground so the striker can run forward and meet it. Also why can't long balls from deep be up in the air? They're so flat that either the opposition takes them, or if your players tries to trap, it ricochets from his body to the opposition.

3) Tackling - I think you all know the problems here so I won't even bother. Suffice to say that the PES 4 version of tackling would be an improvement on this.

4) Loads of other problems that I can bore you about with my drivel - inconsistent simple passes, inconsistent player/cursor selection, hopeless ball trapping etc etc etc.

I cannot believe that Konami has either consulted or studied football games properly when designing this game. The gameplay should be *THE MOST IMPORTANT* aspect of any game. Instead of introducing unnecessary nonsense such as Teamvision and whatever, why can't they first resolve some simple issues???? I think they've actually gone backward. Improve the graphics of PES 4 and I'd say it'll be better than PES2008! I really hope they have plans to improve this.

I normally don't get so angry with something as trivial as a computer game, but PC games are getting really really expensive nowdays - and it seems like such a big waste of money considering I found a version of 3 years ago to be more enjoyable.

Rant over. Consolations, explanations and even brickbats will all be graciously accepted.

I have the 360 version. Now why doesn't Konami do what other companies do an release a patch to fix these things? I hate EA Sports but they send out patches for their games.

Fix the fatigue issue and slow the damn game down. I know the first one can be fixed and I don't see a problem as to why the second one can't be.

If Konami doesn't fix those issues in PES 09 then forget it, I am going to FIFA and not putting up with this non sense.

Just upped the level to Professional in the game and I have to say it seems like a mess.

Why in the world when I am running down the pitch with Zambrotta DO I HAVE 2-3 PLAYERS AT TIMES RUNNING TOWARDS HIM AT FULL SPEED?

Once you up the level past Regular, you will have a guy running at you full speed in your own end.

Now anyone that knows soccer or has played, you don't go playing chase the ball when they are deep in their own end, why? It wastes energy!

I tried it all out on different levels and on Regular the computer will jog around on the field, not chasing after the ball like a mad man, just a slight jog, but once you go to Professional or top player, forget passing it around in your own end, there will be players coming at you and like they are on a sugar rush from hell.

Another thing, enough of this pin point passing across the field from the computer.

And fix the damn defense. I have a back line of Zambrotta, Cannavaro, Nesta and Grosso. I caught Cannavaro all the way up the field with Luca Toni for God knows what reason and then let's say Cannavaro gets beaten yet Nesta, Cannavaro and Grosso are still back there, that man dribbling with the ball ran freely in while Nesta and co watched him!!!

These are world class players I am talking about. There is no reason for Cannavaro to be standing next to Luca Toni up the field. I checked the settings and I went to my team strategy and he should not be up there.

Does anyone at Konami play soccer or used to?

I appreciate your frustration. This is very very common in Professional.

Something like this also happens a lot when you're in possession. You send a diagonal pass and the recieving player, instead of taking it in his stride and moving forwards towards the goal, will let it run by him and then chase it diagonally towards the sideline. It's an utter joke.

MISS!!! I have been playing online with PS3. I can not come close to winning, much less even score. Lag is terrible. I am sure people are cheating. No matter what I do I can barley steal ball. If I get it -they take it right back. I can barley break midfield line. What gives? I know I do not suck this bad. My record no wins- 10 losses only scored 4 goals.
Todays games 2 examples. I steal ball and dribble down wing- no one around- all of a sudden my guy does not have ball and oppent is on a 1 on 1 with my keep- GOAL. After that I could not ever get ball from him for rest of game. lost 5-1.
Next game I score first goal half way through first half to make it 1-0. He immediatley kicks off and dribbles through my entire team- GOAL. Could not steal ball for rest of game AGAIN!!! Lost 6-1. Seems like as soon as I scored gameplay changed to where I could do nothing. Am I hallucinating?
Lost reciept or I would take back just b/c online is so BAAAAAADDDD!
Are people cheating online? How? I am pissed.

Another thing that is pissing me off. Playing as Barcelona here, Henry is running down the field full speed and I have some schmoe who I just checked that has an 81 for speed while Henry is what...in the upper 90's yet this guy is running with him stride for stride....UM NO.

Almost laughable my ass

So many things wrong with this game. To name just a few:

Gameplay:
- Passing is poor, long being too fast and uncontrollable, short being very innacurate due to there only being 8 possible directions in which to pass - some many times I've tried to pass to a free man in the box and it's gone too far in front or behind him, and many times I've tried to make a simple pass to a defender and it's gone the wrong side of him and put an attacker through on goal
- Tackling - just impossible, almost laughable
- Fatigue - played a league, after just two games most of my players were too knackered and had to be rested

Graphics:
Slowdown - we all know about this - makes play in the penalty box very difficult

Features:
Lack of kit selection - having to play against a team in the same colour, schoolboy error
Editing - again, much covered topic

I'm too knackered from being disappointed with this game to remember the other points. I'd exchange this for the PS2 version but I still can't bring myself to do it, perhaps because it would make my PS3 feel redundant

I agree with you on the kit selection (a third kit would be swesome), but I think the way you say that the tackling is "almost laughable" is just you yrying to hide the fact that you just can't tackle, cos me and my mates can tackle absolutely fine with no problems. Learn to tackle mate. It ain't hard.

I couldn't agree with you more. The online mode is so infuriatingly slow. The lag is phenominal. PES 6 was great online, so I can't understand why Konami didn't keep the same online stuff. It was so much better.
By the way well done for supporting Arsenal. :)

A 40 yard shot that hits the corner flag for me. PES1 for the PS2 is a better game than this version. I can't believe how much Konami have fucked up with this one. Ball physics are shite, game speed is ridiculously fast and the lag is unforgivable.

I wish I still had the receipt to take it back.

Hear Hear PES 08 (PS3) is a miss, miss, miss. An awful 'step up' to next gen gaming.

I bought in on release and returned it 3 days later and ended up playing the PS2 version and it looks i'll be doing the same again this year as PES 09 looks no different in terms of pure gameplay, that is after all what made PES so great.

Anyone who thinks that the PS3 version of PES 08 is a hit need their head read. I've been playing Pro since it came out on PS1 back in 98.

Konami dropped the ball big time (and possibly still not learnt their lesson despite a promise to 'go back to the drawing board' for PES 09) and it looks like Fifa may legitimately claim the crown this year.

go on then i dare ya!

thought not....

do you really think Konami will care. The fact you just paid them £40, then you burn it? they will probably think to themsevles, 'if people keep doing this we won't have to bother with a patch! and we still; have their money!'

think about it...

it also means, there will be no more 40 pounds next year

or the year after that
