BELIEVE
After playing this game more and more, I'd be more inclined to lean towards "Hit". After a high-scoring and unrealistic first few matches in my Master League, it's becoming more realistic with tight scorelines. I just believe it matters entirely on how you approach the game, I've been concentrating more recently and it's therefore been much tighter, and less open, which I prefer since it's usually more realistic. The game plays basically how you make it play, and I've now learnt that. A lot of the "gay" stuff the Computer attempts as opposition isn't as frustrating anymore, probably because I've got used to it, and with a positive perspective on the game, it's something I have to learn and adapt to. It's part and parcel, learning how to defend differently and I'm beginning to enjoy it. Of course a lot of people complain about Online play, but to be fair, I doubt I'll use it much until the patch is released as I don't want my opinion of the game being to be swayed with it, not until it's corrected at least.

I'd probably rate the game 8/10 in terms of enjoyment etc, but 7.5/10 when it comes to "what could've been", and the lack of effort at times it seems.

I am another single player gamer who fails to see PES2008 for the evil fucking mess that it is

There should be two seperate polls. One for people who mostly play the game single player and for those who play multiplayer....

Like I said before..

There are three types of gamer that can possibly derive enjoyment from PES2008.

a) the lame little exploit poofter who should think themselves very lucky that I cant climb down telephone wires to stamp their fucking heads into their spunk stained bedroom carpets

b) those who dont really know the game that well can also still enjoy it.

c) those who only play single player PES

You fall into category C.

On the flip side, at least I'm not A or B.

But seriously, I'm very much an Online type of gamer, it's all you could actually do on PES6, and therefore I simply played my friends, and also competed in an Online League, as I am this year too. However it's the obvious decision to make, not playing Online until a patch is released to reduce the lag.

I'd also advise you to cut down on the borderline retarded posts, they aren't very constructive and they're certainly very repetitive. Nothing personal obviously, it can just get annoying at times man, especially when you sometimes type in capitals.

I would consider a retarded post to be any post that says PES2008 is a hit.

Yeah...I am a stuck record cos I fucking despise the game and even although it turns me into a raging maniac, I keep fucking going back and playing the damn thing. With PES6, it took me until just before X-Mas to learn to stop playing it. With PES2008, I think I am just abut getting to the point of binning it already......when I stop playing..no more PEShate posts from me.

We can do a thread then. Me and you brother we'll start the revolution for the good of the cause.

The end justifies the means. :ninja:

Too right my man! No longer shall we stand for the pathetic updates that Konami expect us to purchase with our hard earned cash year in year out. They're destroying the great game we once loved and i wont stand for it anymore.

It's time to fight the power brother.

The revolution is coming!

do you really think Konami will care. The fact you just paid them £40, then you burn it? they will probably think to themsevles, 'if people keep doing this we won't have to bother with a patch! and we still; have their money!'

As an update to my last post, may I add that in one week and a few days I've won div 1 and all cups in my ML game, with a crap team and in Top Player, mind you. And I work and have a gf, so I hardly spend a lot of time with the game. I don't really find much reason to keep playing with that team, or make a new one, for that matter. From the very beginning, 80% of games featured more than 4 goals. What's up with that? For example, I lost 5-0 and 4-1 against some crap teams from Spain div 1, and then beat Barcelona 3-0 and Atletico Madrid 6-2 (!). But contrary to what you may think, beating them wasn't hard, and it doesn't mean that I played extremely well. Barcelona got only 2 freaking shots on goal! WTF?

Things like that happen all the time in ML, and in div 2 as well, but I thought that example was more illuminating. As I noted in another thread, in one game they close you down and dribble like mad, and the next, they open up and let you score. I rarely feel it's my fault when I lose, and I don't feel it's my achievement when I win. It is a rather unnerving experience.

It seems the game is worth very little in single player as well :(

I don't really like PES this year. I think it's not that bad, but I don't like it. It's too damned easy! I can handle some gameplay quirks, some missing features and all that, as most games have those. But when a game is too easy, it just kills all the fun. Unless you're one of those players who resort to cheat codes on the second sitting, of course.

This game should come in a bundle with Top Spin 2 as the nicest but lamest sport games in a long time. Back to Football Manager, I guess.

U COULDNT SCORE PLAYING 2 PLAYER????

Well, allow me to give you a little tip.

Get the ball to a top player....such as Henry, Ronaldo, Adriano, Ronaldinho, Eto'o, Ibrahimovic, etc....(there are a good few more), and simply go on a mad dribbling spree. Keep running around in circles and sheilding ball until the opposition AI eventually all bunch up together like a band of raging homosexuals and leave a big gap for you to run through. Dont worry if there are one or two defenders sort of blocking your way as they will be sure to get out of your road and join the chain of 6-7 defenders nibbling away at your players heels to no avail. Please take note that you may be tempted at some point to pass the ball. Whilst this can be a viable option it is not really necesarry and you are only risking losing possesion of the ball. So best just to keep running with the ball until you have practically walked it into the net or you are at the touchline where an easy cut-back pass can then be safely played for the open goal.

Singey, like I said, there are two types of gamer that can possibly enjoy PES2008.

a) the lame little exploit poofter who should think themselves very lucky that I cant climb down telephone wires to stamp their fucking heads into their spunk stained bedroom carpets

b) those who dont really know the game that well can also still enjoy it.

You fall into category B.

P.S. oh i forgot. To score 9/10 corners, simply kick it vertically up the touchline making sure it is taken with player who will hit it with an outswinging foot. Then watch with glee as the keeper inevitably fumbles ball into own net or into path of oncoming striker.

Well im waiting for my PS3 copy, as at the moment im playing my bro's 360 version. Of course I cant play it as much therefore I dont have that greater knowledge about the game, we'll see my verdict when I get down to some proper online play. 2player for me is offline at the mo.

And our online play on the 360 has hardly any lag at all, there is the odd bit with some other peoples connections, but other than that its enjoyable, the connection at least.

This is the thing r-tard, Konami don't give a shit about the game they produce anymore and they're just throwing out any old shite each year knowing full well that their huge fanbase will still go out and pay 40 notes for it.

Once again we've got a half arsed next gen version with a poor edit mode and from what i've heard the online play is fucking awful.

If you're happy with the new game then good for you.......personally, i think it's a piss poor effort from Con-ami and i'll be trading my copy in for Assassins Creed when that comes out.

FIFA has well and truly kicked PES's arse this year.

.

Dont trade it...exchange it!

And exchange it now!!!

you have a point up to a point. But this year, I took my original copy of the game back for a refund (and I know that many many others have done the same thing) and next year I see myself and millions of others having even less enthiusiasm for PES2009 than any other PES game in the past. I have been consistently dissapointed by every PES release since the godawful PES4 but this PES2008 really takes the cake.

The addiction/loyalty of thier fanbase can only hold out for so long before it starts to fall apart. I know plenty long-time ProEv fanboys who are now playing and enjoying FIFA08 and have consigned PES2008 to the sin bin already. Should FIFA continue to improve then who is say that PES will win these 4 guys custom back?

PES2009 is either gonna be an immaculately perfect soccer game or the series is going to go into a rapid demise as even those who are enjoying PES2008 and all its lameness at the moment will be pretty fucking bored of the 15-9 scorelines (and the depressing repetative gameplay that will goes hand in hand with such results) that will occur by spring next year.

the fatigue is so unrealistic its unreal. they'd sorted this out last year but totally cocked it up again. why do my whole team need resting? and before you ask i haven't got the sprint button sellotaped down! i've used it only when i have to, tried to win the ball back without it and still no use. get to 80th min and sneijder is seconds from death seemingly. and now i'm 18 mins into my 2nd league game of the season and van nistelrooy's fatigue is less than half??!?!?!?! he's played 110mins of football for christs sake! konami sort this shit out!!!!!! at this rate he'll play 10 matches all season, it's so unrealistic and just kills the fun in playing the game?! i want to play as temas like madrid or valencia or barcelona to play as some of the best players in the world, not to put them on the bench every other game. its a fucking joke and after playing 2 matches in my league i dont think i can be bothered to play this game in single player anymore

dont get all fanboy about it, it just makes you look like an ill-informed twat.

whether you like the game or not, it's gotta be said that there are massive flaws in it and that overall, this is probably the worst game in the series. fifa is even pulling better reviews from a lot of critics.

im undecided about the game. ive played it a few times but havent reall felt that spark with it.the first game i played on a big HD tv at my mates, and loved it, but since than ive played it on my mates analogue tv and i must say, every time i play it i enjoy it less and less, its like the game is ridiculously slow on his tv. and any pass i go to make goes completly the wrong way or it goes in the right direction but at the speed of a granny with no legs. another thing i dont like is how the players take fucking years to actually pass the ball, and the way the power bar goes up so fast. i also hate the way it feels like the ball is as light as a feather and it sort of floats when you hit it. i like the control and the difference between player speeds.

Excellent game I think.. the big big let down is the online play, its riduculous!! That would make me forget about how good it is, i bought this game for online play.. While playing.. one minute you have the ball then next minute your a goal down. Marks out of 10? Em.... 4.5 - 5!!

I'm in the hit camp.

It has it's flaws but all in all I love it. A few more weeks of play and I will fully adapt and take to it even better.
