Konami have been reluctent to change their ways in previous years but have recently shown an improvement and are starting to reach todays gaming standards through listening to the fans.

Yep, they listened. The added many things that people wanted, but for me they spent so much time on the extra's that they forgot the core. Gameplay.

As DF said though, it's all subjective.

Fifa went through a similar phase, they asked fans for help before they reached the height of fifa10.

......they had fans ? during this phase ? ...there me thinking people went to FIFA when pes start doing shit lol . You know what tho, they had atleast 5-6 years of this shitty phase [in fact whole of ps2], we have about 2 comming onto maybe 3[hopefully not]

Speed of Play: The new level of control means that PES 2011 enjoys a more considered pace of play, which varies dependent on situations. The game will burst into life as counter-attacks come into play, but players can dictate the pace via slow build up or exploiting available space to surge forward. It is harder to make long runs from midfield, and successful play will depend on making quick passes to make room.

Aesthetics: PES 2010 showcased the best likenesses in a football game, and PES 2011 ups the ante further. Facial animation has been enhanced, but the key advances are over 1000 all-new animations which have been recreated from the ground up using over 100 hours of motion captured footage. Every aspect of player movement has been reworked, with more organic runs, turns, throw-ins, tackles, and interaction. The way players speed up and slow down is also more natural, while replays display elements of motion blur that bring your saved goals to vivid life.
I think these points which I highlighted in bold is what's going to make PES 2011 the better game!
Of-course we haven't yet seen this with our own eyes yet.
But the speed of the players movement is crucial to bringing back what PES 5/6 had to offer.

In PES 5/6 it was much harder to run with the players like Messi, Et'o etc.
That's why PES 5/6 were the best games of the series. If only Konami didn't remove the online servers for PES 5/6 I would be playing them all day online until this very moment.

Since PES 2008 we had players running like cheetah's. So basically, what Konami have to really do is tweak players like Messi, Eto'o, Wright-Phillips, Ronaldo, Martin Petrov, etc And not make them run like Cheetah's!
This is one of the reason why in PES 2010 online we see everybody using Real Madrid, Barca, Man City, Inter...

I am always forced no matter what, to pick a big team, otherwise I can't compete with the other Cheetahs.. Nearly every player in Man City runs like a cheetah. Bellamy, Petrov, Wright-Phillips you name it.
If this is fixed in PES 2011 I think we are in for a real treat!

The goal keepers need to be reworked too! We need strong goal keepers and also defenders who are well capable of stealing the ball off Messi. The fact that the ball sticks like glue in Messi's feet is what kills the realism of the game.
I still played over 100 hours of PES 2010, but I am still not convinced by it despite loving the game at the same time.

Those features that Konami just announced need to strongly be taken into account!
Lets see what Konami can deliver this time round. At least I am more hopeful in Konami than EA Sports when it comes to the PC platform.

Well, like last year I will pass my judgement when I play it and the demo won't be the final product. We need to see a final gameplay build to start passing judgements on the game.
But I hope they are right with those words they said. They look too good. I hope it will be like that because animations and player runs are terrible as of now.

Good press release from Konami. Will they fully deliver? Only time will tell but imo if they can deliver half of that then we'll have a great game. Looks like we'll have true 360 movement and passing this time instead of a last minute slap on and the long overdue passing power bar. An improved collision system and more tackling styles are great signs. Defenders no longer chasing like rabid dogs. A short term stamina meter so sprinting all game long is now out of the question. These are all things we've asked for and imo I don't find too much difficulty in implementing them.

Of course this is Conami we're talking about and I can understand where all the pessimism is coming from but honestly there's no need for anyone to get their panties in a bunch because there is absolutely no harm in being optimistic in this situation. At this point in time, I for one will choose to believe that Pes 2011 will be the best football game ever. If that is not the case come winter time then so be it, my life will still go on :)

True but its like comparing cassettes to cds. Both were ok in their day but technology moves on. if you had pes 08 in in 1998 people would be going crazy about it. Konami have been reluctent to change their ways in previous years but have recently shown an improvement and are starting to reach todays gaming standards through listening to the fans. Fifa went through a similar phase, they asked fans for help before they reached the height of fifa10.

Comparing a cassette to a cd is irrelevant. What really matters is the content in them. Even in this day and age I'd still much rather play a casette from a great artist then a cd from a really shitty one. The older Pes games were great cassettes while the newer ones are average to mediocre cds.

Well I can't say I wasn't expecting this, no in game footage again this year is the worst thing they could of done in terms of pushing peoples buttons again. They'd of being better off just waiting for something more solid rather than this pile of shite and a book of empty promises.

I'm just hoping the clowns don't mess up the Wii version.

the trailers ingame, confirmed by konami. it may be hard to believe, but if you play pes 2010 in broadcast view it looks that good graphically. Also since pes 2008 konami's teasers have been in game.

i think what the trailer shows is how much smoother the animations are and the transitions between them. obviously we need some gameplay vids in wide cam.

Being new to Pes, I first got Pes 10, then after reading stuff on different forums decided to get pes6.
what always amazes me with game developers is how they manage to go backwards, o.k 10 has it`s good points over 6, but 6 has a lot that 10 doesn``t.
some of the things that annoy me with 10 and 6 and need sorting:
REF`S
pes10 not enough fouls/ almost non existent penalties( on ave EPL teams get 4 a season.
pes6 to many red cards
PES10 players running out when going down the line happens far to often.
GK making no attempt to make a save
no handball
probably a lot more
lets hope most if not all the problems are sorted in 2011 and not just pretty graphics.

3 years ago I'd be excited to hear news. It's going to have to take something very special to make me even consider giving the demo a try.

If you're not interested in trying the demo regardless, then you don't deserve to get a good game.

In Game Video My Arse..

Typical of Konami to feed us with Bull.

The teaser video was just that .....a video. That is no in game crap. If it was, where are the other players? Even the training ground has players.

Just look how silent they will be for the next few months. All we will hear is just rumours from the brain dead, well paid columnists such as Adam of WENB telling us how "blown away" he is with PES 2011. I almost believed him but just realized he says the same thing every freakin year.

Another "journalist" has reported how awesome the game is....best thing since slice bread i presume. I almost believed him too until i read further that he dined with the fish (Seabass) that very night. I wonder if he was "blown" too.

I'm more inclined to believe that they've hired a writer to write that load of bollocks rather than hire the necessary developers to ensure that the game isn't the same shit that it's been for the past 5 years

5 years is a bit off. PES 6 (on the PS2) was great. I'm praying this is the year things get back on track. I'm still not fully convinced by FIFA and I don't think it will ever have the immersion or individuality of PES of old.

And if you're listening Konami, please let us move teams in the ML. After all these years it still isn't possible. Once I've built one team and dominated for a few seasons, I want do it again with another lowly team. Oh, and cut down on the regens. I don't mind new players popping up, but not modern day players a season or two after retirement.
