Am I the only one wanting to see an improvement in the pathetic AI of Cpu teams?

Defend, block, defend, intercept, block, defend. Pass sideways and backwards and occasionally play a killer 60 yard through ball that somehow takes out the entire defence. That's the gameplan 99% of the time.

Why don't they change formations? Why don't they switch to all out attack in league games instead of just cup games? Why don't they throw on extra strikers or switch from short passing to long ball and pepper your box?

I'm 2 or 3-0 up away from home and it's the CPU with everyone behind the ball playing on the counter attack! Ludicrous.

I think we would all rather feel like we've beaten the CPU's best efforts to beat us rather than a damage limitation exercise?

100% this!! It gets so monotonous and boring doesn't it. You run with a player, the defender runs into you and blocks it. Your player stumbles around. You then repeat the process all match, sometimes you have a long range shot which ALWAYS goes over the crossbar, even if you barely press the shoot button. I basically find myself taking low shots every time otherwise you've no chance of scoring. There's no looseness or nuance in play, regardless of what team you choose. I don't play against human opposition so, for me, the game gets boring very quickly.

Another thing I really want to see is some sort of face import or scanning tool. It's so frustrating every year when Konami create some incredible new faces and then the next year they've disappeared because that team isn't in there anymore, or the National Team isn't licensed. I mean, Bayer Leverkusen won't be in this years edition so the likes of Calhanoglu, Wendell, Pajhanpolo, Tah, Bender, Keissling, Chicarito won't be there. And if Brandt and Bellarabi aren't included on the National team, they will be gone as well. It makes creating the Bundesliga a bit naff to be honest. The same with MLS and Bundesliga when Lewandowski, Alonso, Ribery, Lahm, Giovinco, Pirlo, Dos Santos etc all disappeared in 2017. Very frustrating.

All they need to do is stick importing/scanning in as an option and let people do what they want, so it's hardly a licensing issue any more than including the fake leagues is, leaving people to create their own teams.

That MATS save around 2:00 was incredible. GKs are definitely much better. As for the AI... watch the video. Three things I'd like to point out though.

1. AI man marking is non-existent. Positioning player by player and players as parts of a formation is also pretty bad.
2. Dortmund is an atrocious team during defensive transitions (considering their position in european football), I hope this will be better against Atletico Madrid and similar teams.
3. AI was much better when attacking.

Game is 2 months away & there is no news on licenses. That means it will be the same leagues. Probably no Copa Libertadores again. Like 10 other European teams. 100 fake teams. So pretty much Pes 2017.

I honestly don't care about licenses - after all the community create all the kits etc anyway. Other than hopefully improved gameplay and menus, the only thing I actually care about is the player faces. The generic faces are the thing that always drags me out of the realism. Real faces give you the full experience, sadly the in-game editor isn't good enough to create life-like faces. If we could import our own I would be a very happy PES player.

I don't really agree with some of this. if the cpu defence was always brilliant like a machine! you would never score. it has to make programed mistakes.
however in that video the defence is not even playing? they mark tighter in 2017?

I've been playing pes for years from the snes days and I still find it quite hard. Im probably not the best player as I only dip in and out now and again to play my master league when actually get time to play. (not as often nowadays)

So for some one like me, pes2017 was brilliant!! I don't play on superstar only because I actually enjoy playing and scoring and winning. I don't want to be smashing my controller up every 5 mins when I actually do get chance to play.

If 2018 is like 2017 but improved it will be awesome!

Looks like no chance for Bundesliga in PES for several more years.

https://www.dfl.de/de/home/bundesli...ium=social&utm_term=deutsch&utm_content=tweet

For English readers:

18.07.2017 - Bundesliga International, a licensee for interactive entertainment products from the Bundesliga and the 2nd Bundesliga, has extended its successful partnership with Electronic Arts. With Sega and Konami, two new partners have secured extensive rights packages.

Electronic Arts, since 1998 Partner of the Bundesliga, receives the license rights in the area of match simulation for the four seasons from 2018/19 to 2021/22. The match simulation remains exclusive to Electronic Arts. In addition, Electronic Arts' rights also include the E-Sport division, which will allow the company to offer national and international competitions such as the official "TAG Heuer Virtual Bundesliga" or "FIFA Ultimate Team" competition. In addition, the company secured a partially-inclusive rights package, which includes the development and worldwide distribution of manager simulations in all languages.

The two traditional Japanese companies, Konami and Sega, purchased similar, exclusive packages, but limited to one manager simulation each. Konami has been successful in manager simulations for many years, especially in the Asian region. The Football Manager of Sega is a classic football manager simulation with extreme game depth, for which Central Europe is a core market in particular.

"Match and manager simulations have a special significance for us, because they make the Bundesliga even more popular worldwide - especially in young, football-friendly target groups. We are therefore delighted to continue the successful partnership with Electronic Arts and the world's leading product, FIFA. With Konami and Sega, we have acquired two providers who also support us in this goal, "says Jörg Daubitzer, CEO of the Bundesliga International.

All licenses are valid worldwide and for marketing in all languages. In addition, the Bundesliga International has, for the first time, created all rights packages in a technologically neutral manner due to the establishment of new and the fusion of existing technologies and platforms.

Rights were awarded in an open, transparent and non-discriminatory tender procedure. Silence was agreed on the license sums.

LOL, after the Beta was suppose to be LIVE, Konami announce 1.5 hour delay to tweak the servers.........Once again Konami being Konami...........you would think they would have started the tweaking 1.5 hours before the launch of the Beta.

And what makes it even funnier is that this Beta is suppose to test online.

FAIL right out the gate. LOL. This is Konami and I expected it. Matter of fact, I told my son that Konami would do this and they proved me right.

So the beta had a date and time for launch and they postponed it 90 mins the day before launch? That could be a random hiccup, although it does bring some flashbacks from previous years.

LOL, NOT day before launch.........They delayed it 15 minutes after the Beta was supposed to be live. FAIL. 15 minutes after suppose to be live, they announce they were adding final tweaks.

Still haven't been able to play 3v3.........NOt sure how long it is taking people, but after 15 minutes, I cancel it.

Averaging 8-9 minutes just for 1v1.

The Dude, it's about the timing of it.........After it was suppose to be live. Had they delayed before launch, OK, but it's typical Konami behavior. Year after year, Konami always pulls stuff like this.

Yeah that's not postponing, that's damage control. And a poor attempt at that,

Anyone know what leagues are part of FIFPRO?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FIFPro#Members

Most leagues then. Japan is included (so there goes any kind of argument for not having J1 in the european version), but China, Germany and Turkey are not.

Edit:

These are some high quality faces.

I find the J League the strangest one. It's actually IN Winning Eleven, their own game!! Why isn't it in PES as well??? It doesn't overly bother me because I'd probably never play it anyway but I just find it odd.

Just tried the online beta.
Played two coop matches, scored one goal, but let me tell you.
This game is hilariously bad.
It's not like this is the first online football game ever.
EA got the online right.
Who the hell thought putting colored triangles instead of names was a good idea?
Worst of all, these triangles switch in the last second so anyone can pass the ball and it suddenly turns into a guessing game.
Also, there is a half a second delay for everything you do.

I thought that as well, it was all a bit messy. I'm pretty sure you can (or will be able to) change that in the settings though when then full game comes out. The actual playing of the game I thought was pretty decent though. Player models etc look better, new animations are good.
