How long should it take to download the 3.15(?) update? I tried yesterday and after about 5 minutes it hadn't even reached 1%.

anyone getting MAG? 256 player online shooter ;)

I aim to rent at some stage. Better not have a mandatory install like the beta, otherwise I'm never playing. If it manages to stay relatively lag free and have anywhere near 256 players, I consider it a success.

Are there any other headsets that's compatible with the PS3, other than the Turtle Beach P21? I'm looking for similar features -- game sound + voice chat.

I've been getting mixed reviews about the P21, and some people are having problems with the static. It's also only a stereo headset. For that, I feel that it's too expensive.

God of War III E3 2009 Demo out on USA Playstation Store.

Downloading it now using my USA PSN account, which I set up just for demos like this. :smug:

You mean the demo that is also on the EU store? :faceplm:

I checked the Europe store earlier, but couldn't find it. Did you use the search bar to find it? I didn't bother searching via that. I just went onto the US store and it was there on the home screen.

Sony's PlayStation Network has been hit by a glitch that has left users on all continents unable to connect to the online service, the company said Monday.

The PlayStation Network is an Internet-based service that connects PlayStation 3 consoles to online stores, software downloads and is used as a platform for some multiplayer online games. It has about 38 million users worldwide.

The problem appears to be affecting only the older PlayStation 3 consoles and not the newer so-called "slim" models that were recently launched, according to messages on Twitter.

First reports of the problem began appearing online late afternoon on Sunday, U.S. time, and acknowledgement came from Sony's U.S. unit in the form of a blog and Twitter posting.

But as of time of writing, around 3 p.m. on Monday, Japan time, the company still hadn't determined the cause of the problem, said Makiko Noda [cq], a spokeswoman for Sony Computer Entertainment in Tokyo.

"We're narrowing down the issue and continue to work to restore service to all. Updates as soon as we have them," the company said on its @SonyPlayStation Twitter channel.

I can't change my Heavy Rain ending :<

A theory is that all non-Slim PS3s have a problem and slim ones don't - my date was set back to Dec 31, 1999 and the time was messed up. I presume that's the same with virtually everyone else.

Yeah mines buggered as well. Fingers crossed it'll be sorted soon.

Was watching a simpsons dvd, took it out to see that annoying little box in the top right hand corner pop up to tell me I had been signed out. Bastards.

Can we still play games offline or won't they load? I've heard if we do, it can mess with the trophies. :/

I hope they fix it, unless they find they can't and offer an upgrade to a slim unit for a nominal fee, and by that i mean dirt cheap like £25, to everyone experiencing this problem.

I'm sure it'll be a case of releasing some sort of update that fixes the problem, or as one article I've read says, "fixes itself" at 6pm central.

EDIT: Said article...

Everyone READ THIS PLEASE.

Here's what's going on right now: something with the PS3's internal clock has borked in some pre-slim models. This is not a PSN issue; it has to do with your PS3's clock. This clock is NOT related to the OS clock. It seems to be a leap year bug. Setting your clock ahead will do nothing. All PS3s around the world were affected at the exact same time.

Does this affect me?

-If you have a Slim PS3, you're good to go. Continue playing it as normal.
-If you have a "fat" PS3, you may be affected. Some fat PS3s have worked ok, but it seems a good majority have been bugged.

What does this bug mean?

-If affected, your date and time has been set to a random past date. This prevents you from signing into PSN, playing any PSN games, or using any DLC. Your trophies will also not display correctly or be able to sync.

How do I fix it?

-You can't. Even if you don't sign into PSN, it won't help. This is a hardware issue.

So, what do I do?

-Wait 24 hours. Other products that have had similar bugs have corrected themselves after the "bugged" day. On Monday around 6pm central time, all PS3s will automatically correct themselves...maybe.

-If that doesn't work, we'll need a firmware update from Sony, which should be a pretty important priority for them right now.

Did I lose my data/themes/etc?

Your save data/games/dlc/themes are fine. They'll be fixed when the PS3 is fixed. Trophies are uncertain right now, but they'll be fine if you've synced them before the PS3 was bugged. Unsynced trophies are an unknown right now.

Original?

My decision to sell my first PS3 to raise some cash and then purchase the new slim PS3 further down the line? Golden.

Anyone for clubs... oh wait!

On the other hand while they're there perhaps they could make the damn thing more reliable.
