Resident Evil 6 [PS3/360/PC]

Yeah.... I wasn't that impressed. The Leon parts were OK-ish, but as for the Chris and Jake levels..... WTF??? That's not Resident Evil!!! It's like they've sold out to try and attract fans of the movies by making it more action-oriented, and it doesn't work IMO.

You mean like Resi 5?

Resident Evil stopped being Resident Evil to me with REmake and Resi Zero on the Gamecube.

No, never will. This game is dead to me, hoping for Capcom to announce a remake of Resident Evil 2 for the Wii U tbh.

Saw Conan "review" it and it has convinced me this game will be awful, just look at the shitty animation

I haven't bought a game for a year.

Played the demo. Hated it.

Played it some more. And some more. And I'm in love.

It's a terrific game, particularly with a co-op partner.

The best Resident Evil I played is RE4 in all honestly. RE5 was also a damn good game, but I accept the fact that the genre has taken a turn towards action.

Some of the new mechanics in RE6 are brilliant. However, I hope RE7 combines the best of RE6 and the best of RE4 to deliver a good survival horror co-op experience.

The fact the campaign will be 30 hours long tells me this game is a must buy. This doesn't even factor in the co-op replayability..

They need to fix the camera, tighten the controls and framerate for the final game though. The HUD also looks atrocious.

Wank reviews from major sites, official mags are giving high scores (with the ad revenue from capcom, who can blame them) but the likes of EDGE, Eurogamer and 1UP are my usual barometers for shit games, and this seems to be average at best.

It’s a bloated, often incoherent game, but the most frustrating thing about Resident Evil 6 is that (Chris’s focus on cover shooting aside) it’s not an unimaginative one..... Sadly, it’s a game that redefines the series as a loose collection of action scenarios with a shared theme of mild sci-fi horror. It’s a game so eager to please that it can’t settle on an identity. And it’s a game that marks a critical point in the series’ history. Resident Evil might have lost interest in pure horror a while back, but it seems Capcom would rather you were thrilled than afraid.

RE6 presents blockbuster-caliber entertainment, sure, but it also forces you to revisit rough portions of gameplay and rarely challenges a player outside of arbitrary difficulty levels and cheap deaths via phoned-in quick-time events. The unfortunate truth is that Capcom hasn't figured out a new way to terrify gamers in the eight years since RE4. While building on that game's masterful formula of stop-and-pop gunplay is a smart approach, RE6 serves as proof that too many compromises and too much empowerment can ultimately erode what makes Resident Evil, at its core, work.
Eurogamer 6/10
The game represents a tremendous amount of effort and investment and, for those impressed by such things, Resident Evil 6 may delight. But all the effort in the world won't make up for a lack of vision. This game is blind to imagination and focus. Capcom's uncertainty about the series' identity post-Mikami (and post-Uncharted) is hardcoded into its structure: four campaigns offering different, flawed expressions of that potential. And the inevitable price for this wavering is a lack of coherence. Resident Evil 6 is an unwieldy tribute to the series' past, an uneven expression of its present and an unwelcome indication of its future.

IGN 7.9/10

Resident Evil 6 might be the biggest RE game ever, but it struggles to be the best, lacking a coherent vision

polygon 4/10
Resident Evil 6 leaves players with the shell of a blockbuster game. It blusters along with massive explosions and insane plot twists, but it lacks a fundamental understanding of why action games are fun. In the end, Resident Evil 6 resembles one of its grotesque mutations — bloated, out of control, and recklessly trying to consume everything around it. Capcom has built a real monster here.

I haven't paid attention to any reviews for a year. Essentially what we have here are 'opinions' from 'other people' dictating what we can and cannot enjoy. Or at least this is the impression I get from how the 'public' views reviews.

Sure, the game has shit reviews. But it doesn't negate the fact that I've had a ton of fun with the demo. I'll buy when it is cheaper than £30.

Well they're not dictating what we can and cannot enjoy, they are sharing their opinions of their level of enjoyment; it's not stating that we can't enjoy the game.

The fact is, I hated Resi 5, tbh I didn't much enjoy Resi 4, judging by the wholhearted feel that this game is Resi 5 pushed up to 11 with GOW style gameplay, dual stick controls, QTE every 30 seconds or so etc, I know I will not like it. Review scores mean nothing, but when you read countless reviews and they all mention things I personally dislike, thats when I consider the fact the game probably isn't something i'd enjoy.

HEck, even if this game had been receiving 8 or 9's all round, I still probably wouldn't play it.

RE:Revelations on the 3DS was awesome though, return to survival horror form for the series.

Some good reviews, some shit reviews. Obviously you fall into the good camp, as am sure many others will.

Jonno394 - I hated RE5 and the RE6 demo, but I loved RE4.

Yeah RE4 was good at parts, Las Plagas started to piss me off, maybe i'm just a sentimental fool, but pre-rendered backgrounds, preset(ridiculous) camera angles, close, confined spaces and Zombies get me hard.

Haha, fair enough.

What's the best RE game for you then? I'd probably say RE2, closely followed by RE3. I loved the mercenaries challenge in RE3. I never actually completed the first game. I got close to the end (in the underground lair bit) but got stuck due to being a bit wasteful with my ammo in earlier stages.

I'll definitely get this, but maybe not straight away. The price will drop quite a bit by christmas/January.

Ali_BWFC for me it is Resident Evil on the gamecube. Absolutely stunning to look at, great hameplay additions (crimson heads, close quarter counter attacks) just a superb game, plus Lisa Trevor....Wtf man. RE 2 was my first and it holds a soft spot for me but REmake is just perfect Resi.

Haribo yeah i think i read he was a Capcom rep as well so he mustve knew conan was taking the Piss

My post was a reference to the many blind sheep which follow the herd. OH NOEZ, THIS GAME HAS BEEN GIVEN 4.5 FROM GAMESPOT. I CANNOT EVER ENJOY THIS AND THUS I WON'T BUY. If you catch my drift. :p

Yes yes and yes! Resident Evil 1 remake on the GC was class. RE 0 was also pretty good as well. Personally while I enjoyed RE4 its low on my list as is 5. I always preferred going through the unknown with 7 bullets and a dull knife and knowing that the creature off screen running at me could not be taken down with either choices. Of course I will pick up 6 but I prefer the series where it was. All this over the shoulder roided out Mountain dew shit I'm not a fan off. But thats what sells

I honestly think Resident Evil needs to return to the style of RE4.

The old Resident Evil games are simply too clunky. Resident Evil 4 was a great mix of survival horror and action.

To be honest, even Resident Evil 5 is pretty good. I don't really see the difference between RE4 and RE5 to be honest. They were both practically the same games, except the latter lacked the scare factor.

I like the combat in RE6 as well as all the moves you can pull off though. Take the best from RE6 and combine it with RE4 and I'll be happy :p

Also, am I the only one who likes co-op? I can't remember the last time I shelled out money for a PS3 game, but co-op is great. I enjoy games more when playing them with friends, than on my one. It also increases replayability.
