Skyrim

When playing yesterday I learnt that taking a swipe at a mammoth isn't the cleverest thing to do. Dead with a single headbutt or whatever it was he did.

I decided to go up to Solitude to do the "Join the Imperial Legion" quest rather than meeting the Greybeards as I fancied exploring the Skyrim world a bit more. Upon walking into Solitude I come across a guy who is about to be executed. I tried taking on the guards and got killed but is this the wisest option? What are the consequences of me killing these guys rather than leaving them to do their job?

I think it was a bit daft to take on the guards. Did anything happen when you saved him? Since you decided to join the Imperials, I don't think that taking out a traitor (to them) is the best idea.

I'm still undecided whether to join Imperials or Stormcloaks, but at the moment I'm thinking of going with the Stormcloaks. And yes, taking on a Mammouth at a low level is a terrible idea. Same with bears and sabre cats.

I haven't actually joined the guards just yet; I'm still working out how to actually do that. I didn't end up saving him yet either as the guards killed me each time I tried. I left the game saved at the point where I walk through the doors of Solitude with the execution about to take place a few yards away.

The mammoth was next to a couple of giants who I managed to evade successfully so I was feeling a bit cocky and thought I could take out what appeared to be their mammoth. A rather stupid idea

What's the deal with Fort Dunstad? I came across it on my way to Solitude and it seemed to be full of bandits charging at me. I didn't go inside as I was getting attacked by several archers from all sides while also having to take on a few bandits on the ground. I shifted round the side, staying close to the wall.

Some of the PC mods are seriously jizz-worthy. Downloaed a 1.28GB HD texture mod which sits on top of Bethesda's HD DLC. Once I get around to installing it, my graphics card is going to cry.

A number of forts have been taken over by bandits or much much worse, a bunch of necromancers.

Giants are normally quite docile, unless you get too close.

Anyone know if there'll be any additional DLC for this?

Yes, definitely. Plus at least two major expansions in the next two years.

The next batch of DLC for PC was due in April but has been pushed back to May. I believe the consoles are slightly behind the PC as far as DLC is concerned though don't quote me on it. I know that's certainly the case with patches.

EDIT: Right, just downloading the 3.1GB official HD texture pack, then I'll apply Skyrim HD (mod) to it and tweak my existing mods for ridiculous levels of detail.

In the stats section, it's got a stat for investing in stores.... how do I do that?

When some random stranger comes up to you, gives you a weapon and asks to hold on to it.... do they ever come back?

Weird. I spoke to a mate about it, he's played the game quite a bit and he said the same thing. It's happened 3 times to me!

A guy gave me his weapon before, and some other guys came to take it from me, so I gave it them, and gave up the guys location, and watched them kill him for stealing their weapon

Bit of news to add to this...

Skyrim's first DLC revealed by Bethesda
Aaron Birch

Is Skyrim just not big enough for you? Well, get ready for the new DLC that's on the way...

Published on May 2, 2012

Although there's not much info save this rather nifty image of the Dovakim looking mean and moody, Bethesda has revealed that the first bit of DLC for the phenomenal Skyrim will be called 'Dawnguard' and will debut on the Xbox 360 this summer, with PS3 and PC versions to be released later.

More information will be made available soon at E3, but if the Internet rumours are true, the expansion will add a new race in the form of the Snow Elves to the mix, along with crossbows and possibly other new weapons. Of course, a host of new quests, dungeons and NPCs will also be added, expanding Skyrim's already considerable size even further.

Looks like the 360 first then :smug: Not too much to go on, but if the rumours are true, I'm really looking forward to using crossbows.

Mods > DLC :>

Sucks to be playing this on a PS3 for those that are given the general flow of problems since release though.
