If you hate the game then this probably isn't for you as you'd hate it anyway, but there's a huge debate going on over on the other forums at the moment, Evo-Web and Wenb. I like to get a cross section of opinion on anything PES.
The crux of the argument is this -
1) Many complained that the game is now more static, that AI seems to have been dumbed down, the CPU generally looks to park the bus and games are a little bland
2) Shooting, everything now seems to go down the middle and shot control is almost impossible.
Many people have said that the game now resembles nothing like the demos, which many people enjoyed.....well here is the interesting bit, you may already know it but if you don't bear with me.
People said that when the game first came out they enjoyed it a lot more had more control etc etc, well it seems like that the latest KONAMi game patch (15mb) to bulk up the goalies and make them better has had a number of effects.
1) That the 'Active AI' has been toned right down in the latest patch, players do not move about like the demos and the game is mor static and less exciting. Almost every team parks the bus and relies on counters
2) Keepers are better?!?! Well are they? Many believe that the new patch has simply changed the games AI so that the keeper is protected more, also the shooting system in the new patch has been designed so that again the rubbish keepers are protected by having almost every shot go centrally.
So just to be clear, this is what people are saying -
**The game pre patch was far more enjoyable because of the active AI and the way the game ebbed and flowed back and forth. The keepers were just adequate to okay pre patch, but instead of KONAMI fixing the keepers they have simply introduced a patch to shield the keepers problems by having most shots go centrally and tone down the active AI so that they are further protected**
Many people have experimented with this, including me, and I don't think it is placebo!
**A few people immediately deleted the KONAMI patch and bang, immediately saw a difference. Players running here and there and generally being more active, more exciting games, ironically better and more realistic defending from the player but better build up and creativity from the CPU. Shots more responsive and harder, people being able to dribble again and take people on etc etc. AND MOST IMPORTANTLY SHOTS GOING WHERE YOU WANT THEM!!**
It seems that the out of the box game is full of the active ai and is more or less the same as demo 2 (if people liked that). The new patch kind of tightens everything up and therefore the games become more stagnant. It may only be the illusion that keepers are better because they have made defences deep and fked around with the shooting mechanics.
If this is the case, then it's SHAME ON KONAMI, if they did actually mean to do it!
For the PS3 I think it's just a case of deleting the 15mb game patch, for the Xbox I think it's deleting the cache or something, check it out on evo-web or wenb, and for PC I think it's a case of using the original pes2012.exe file, but again I may be mistaken, check it out.
I URGE ALL OF YOU DISILLUSIONED WITH THE GAME to at least try it. See for yourself and report your findings.
It seems this is the quandry right now -
1) Pre patch - the game is fluid and active AI is prevalent everywhere. The CPU builds it's attacks with cleverer play. Shooting goes where you want it, and your build up play feels freer and more open. Goalies are poor to adequate.
2) Post patch - the game is more rigid and more contained, not so much active AI. CPU defences generally sit deeper, most shots go centrally to the keeper (thus the illusion that keepers are BETTER). CPU looks to charge through the middle more and relies less on moves to get round the defence.
Note that because you have reverted to game 1.00, then playing online is not a possibility, everybody is looking into this because this may be something big that KONAMI needs to look into ASAP.
Try it out guys and report!
