Tutorial to Transfer 'Option Files' with USB stick!

Transfer Guide

You can use a USB pen drive with the latest dashboard update to transfer this option file. This is the best, quickest and cheapest method of transferring an option file. There are also several different products you can buy, each have their positives and negatives, but they all do the same job pretty much. There's no real need to purchase them if you have a 1GB USB pen drive.

A USB storage device - Follow Step 3 for instructions how to configure a USB stick for use on a 360

Before you start, it's best to have a PES 2011 save file already on your USB storage device. The quickest way is to start up PES 2011 with your USB storage device plugged in. Once the game has loaded up, it asks you to select a storage device. Select your USB device and the game will save the system settings file to your USB device.

Download an option file and use WinRar to extract the file. You will end up with something like this


Plug an Xbox 360 compatible storage device into your PC.

Use WinRar to extract the Xtaf Explorer program from the .rar file
Run the program and click File --> Open Drive
Wait for a second or two and some items should appear in the left window.



Click Data Partition --> Content and you should get a screen something like this.



The folder E0000..... is your Gamer Profile. Click the plus sign and you should see a folder called 4B4EO81D. This is the PES 2011 save folder.

In the right window, right click on the folder called 00000001 and select delete.

Still in the right window, right click and select inject folder



Navigate your way to where you saved the downloaded 360 option file and select the folder called 00000001
Give it a minute to import all the files (the program may appear to freeze, this is normal as it is importing a few hundred files). After the program has finished, your 00000001 folder should look something like this



Click File --> Close Drive
Disconnect your USB Storage Device from your PC and plug it into your 360.

On your 360, go to System Settings --> Memory

Choose Memory Unit --> Games. Highlight PES 2011 and press Y.

Select copy and choose Hard Drive.


That's it! Simple. The process should only take a minute or two :)

How big does the USB stick have to be?
A minimum of 1gb for it to be recognized by the 360

Thanks for this by the way, there's always the extra one in Daymos' thread but a newer one is always welcome.

It might be helpful if you mention the recommended USB size as well as I've seen it mentioned several times, people trying with 128MB sticks (me as well!), 2GB, 4GB and others saying 8GB is necessary so I think mentioning the size you'll need may clear up a few things as far as questions go.

I've not tried the Daymos file yet, I've downloaded it but yet to transfer it. I've only a 128MB USB so I think I'll have to head to the local Tesco soon and pick up an 8GB stick, it'll come in handy for storing university work on anyway. I just hope they're not similarly priced to Microsoft's "official" Xbox 360 USB sticks, as the 8GB is £30 and 16GB about £50. Stupid I know.

When I go to XBOX settings - memory - It only shows my XBOX Hardrive....I can't see the USB device?

I have just followed the above instructions. When got to number 3, thats where im stuck as cant see a USB device to format. I appreciate the help tho mate.

Well this is going well. :faceplm:

I now have my 4GB USB stick, and I've formatted it to my Xbox 360 through the Memory and dashboard. However that's about as far as I can seem to go really. I've copied over a few files from my Xbox's hard drive to the memory stick but when I remove the USB and put it into my laptop it shows up as being empty with no PES files on it. When I then stick it back into the Xbox 360 it recognises the copied PES files. Also I just tried transferring on the laptop the Daymos option file into the USB via drag and drop of the folder but it says I don't have enough space despite the Daymos option file folder being only about 82MB and my USB stick being 4GB and empty. I really don't know what's going on here. I've looked through several of the discussion threads and found nothing relatively to this exact problem, hence why I'm asking here. I've tried to sort it out myself (and will continue to try) but I'm just hoping for some suggestions and advice too if people are willing to help.

You sure it's in the right way? Try flipping it over because when I first put mine in it wasn't being recognised and I realised I just needed to turn the stick over and it was then recognised.

Not sure if you're talking to me, but yeah, mine is a 4GB USB stick and it was formatted with the Xbox 360 and stated that it "met recommendations" as it does on the Xbox 360. As I say I can copy files over to the USB from my Xbox hard drive while on the Xbox 360 perfectly fine - however when I unplug the USB and insert it into the laptop those Xbox files don't appear and aren't visible. Also, I keep being told I don't have enough space to transfer the option file while on my laptop despite the option file being very minimal in space and me knowing I have over 3.73GB left of space (way more than required). There's just no logic as to why it's not working, there's no real indication of why this is occuring, and that's what's frustrating as I've no idea how to correct this.

hunter= i wasnt talking to you but when u put in usb in xtaf program, you go open manually and drive to the usb there is a folder that should say xbox360 click on that.

damo=have u another usb you could try

the xtaf program is VITAL to these option files without simply we couldnt have them rep to the guys who made me lol

You might want to edit your first post mate telling people at the beginning of the post what's necessary in order to even attempt this e.g. certain size USB (as you've done), Xtaf, Xbox 360 hard drive, and an option file.

Putting a link to the Xtaf program will help everyone as well since this thread will be quite popular this year I imagine with the new USB transfer capability and undoubtedly the numerous option files to follow.
