Ok I loaded everything and got the 'data failed to load...different version' like most people on here. What MasterM suggested just above my previous post doesn't work either.

May have to do what 'leesaw' has suggested unless someone knows a better solution.

For anyone else experiencing the 'load fail...version' problem just follow the instructions from the previous pages. Go to system settings in PES 2009 and select download. Download the update but don't save when prompted afterwards. Then go to EDIT and load the VON OPTION file. Hey Presto!

You need to have an internet connection though and must be resgistered with playstation. You can do that from the playstation main menus.

I am a newbie here and I have patiently scanned through the 132 pages of this forum because I encountered the same problem as u guyz: Data failed to load because its from different version. Pls download content...

Like everybody else, I copied the files painstakingly one by one only to realise this and in my fear of corrupting the system data, I had to clear the files one by one again. Torture. It was only two days ago that I finally solved the mystery.

What everybody who tried to help stated were correct except that perhapps its not so clear. Let me try my best to put it in an orderly manner for those who still did not manage to crack the mystery behind.

1) Download version 1.06 and unzip using rar.
2) The unzipped file should have 2 folders: PS3 and MUSIC
3) Copy both foilders into USB flashdrive
4) Switch on PS3 and your internet connection and load PES2009 Disc
5) If its the first time, system will prompt you to download a patch [This is not the v1.2 patch that everybody is talking about here]
6) After downloading it will auto install
7) Now go into PES2009 system settings and search for 'DOWNLOAD' option
8) This is where most people encounter problems. Make sure your internet connection is on and click download. IMPORTANT NOTE: You must first register on playstation network in order to download. There will be an error message prompting you to sign in to playstation network if you have not registered or sign in yet.
9) Once you have registered, you will be able to donwload this Konami v1.2 patch. There will be a message stating that 4 more Spnaish teams are being licensed etc. Install the file after download.
10) Another crucial turning point here. System will promt you to save edit data or overwrite existing edit data (if you have any). Click NO.
11) Now quit the game and plug in your flash drive.
12) Go to 'Games' - 'Saved Game Utility' - 'USB Drive'
13) Press triangle and search for the copy option and click copy
14) You have to do this for all the files one by one. 200+ if I am not wrong.
15) When you have done that, restart your PES2009. When edit data loads, there should be no more error message. Just to do a quick check on whether you have installed the official patch, ensure that Bischoff is in Arsenal or Rafael and Fabio are in Man Utd.
16) Go to 'EDIT' and 'LOAD DATA'. Load up the newly acquired data (Von option files) and SAVE the data in EDIT mode. Tata...!
17) For MUSIC file, go to 'Music' and create playlist: KONAMI_PES. Ensure no spacing at the end. Using the triangle method, copy all chants one by one into the newly created playlist.
18) Go to PES2009 EDIT mode, choose any of the BPL teams, Rangers, Celtic or England and go to cheering stance. Load data from MP3 Files and select the appropriate chant...Tata...!
19) When everything is done, save the edited data again. (Overwrite previous saved version)

Hope this helps and everybody will get to play with the real kits and transfer updates over Christmas. Ho Ho Ho!

THAT MEANS THAT YOU HAVEN'T DOWNLOADED THAT OPTION YET.
first you download that additional option so you can download updates and patches for your game.
so just download the option(the option to download updates) first and than download the update that's available for the game ok.

I did wat Leesaw suggested before i first posted the problem, so neways here is wat happened, when i put in the cd it asked me if i wanted to download a patch so i did it and i knew that there should be a "Download" in the PES2009 System Settings....so i went throught the PES menu to the system settings to find that still there is no " download" button/menu(or wateva it is), and i kno howit looks like wehn its there as i own a WE2009 cd too, but i preferred the PES2009 due to the large edited files available....neways why cant i still see the "download", i have already installed the intial game patch......so any ideas guys??? :-(....

as i am having trouble with this OF (being an offline gamer and what not)
I have mixed two option files together using this OFs Chants and player faces and i must say it is the business
but i do not have a clue in who the players faces are for most of them, i know the obvious ones like Agbonlahor, Davies, Friedel, Navas, Vela etc

but can someone post the list of players faces that appear in order thanks.

btw can someone upload more players faces such as MG Pedersen, Ashley Young, Ramsey, Fabianski, De Ridder, Glen Johnson, Bendtner, Zaki and alot of other quality players without preset faces.

excuse the extreme n00bness of the question, but i've read a good deal of these 133 and pages and cannot find anywhere if this will work with the NTSC/USA/North American version of the game or is it just the PAL/Euro?

No, it isn't possible I don't think. You could try downloading V1.0 and using the edit data, that might work. If not though, it's not possible

thanks for option file, I've gotten to V.1.04 and just dl to 1.20 konami update, hopefully the rest will work . so far its awesome & are you gonna be making more updates any time?

hey guys, wonder if someone could help me out, i have copied the option file onto my usb mp3 player and connected it to my ps3, however when i access it, it says that the usb is empty, please help

sloughins you need to download either winzip or winrar off the net search on goggle both are free and unzip the file before you copy...

paolo im having the same problem as you all the kits ogos and music etc savs over fine but when i try to load the edit data i get the msg

"load failed because data is from a different version.
download content and update data"

what does this mean someone please help me cos im losing hair over this...
