Just to make LeChuck feel better my unpatched image is 721.913 KB, so it seems you re on the right track mate.
I burned my disc with Nero and.. success.

Million thanks again zyg. Your help is more than appreciated. I just managed to apply my first patch. Now, I 'm off to learn how to make more in-depth modifications with kits boots flags etc. Any suggestions on the guide to follow? I don't have a clue where to start from. (I don't know if there is a guide for detailed editing, anyway)

Many thanks to Larsson as well for the loads of useful info.

Oliver, do you want to patch PES3 or WE7?
In most cases, you can follow larsson's guide but ignore steps 2 and 5 which make the whole process a lot simpler.

No, ignore 1+2, but not 5, you cannot patch it successfully without step 5.

You know how newbies are, they take the "in most cases" as a "in every case" :p
And then we have threads like "HEEEEELLLP - I followed Larsson´s guide exactly but my game crashes after the PS2 logo" :D
one of my favorite quotes btw ;)

If newbies follow the ripping guide correctly followed by the patching guide, they should have no problems. If they do, then they can go into step 5 etc.

Probably we'll need to add a simple guide to patching in with yours. So if the simple one doesn't work, they can go on to use the full one.

Usually, they also add that they ignored one of the steps, don't they? :p

When I try to burn the image on to a cd by using the cue. file nero says that there is an error. It says "An error occured while loading the cue sheet file" It then says the filename and then it says "Line (4339)" Could you please tell me why if you know thanks.

1. Don´t use the cue, choose directly the bin, Nero can handle this
2. If this doesn´t help then use Fireburner instead of Nero

I have the "jonboyos all ripkit 28.10.03 patch".
Do I have to follow the installation guide or can i just apply the patch in ppf-o-matic?

Yes you should follow the instructions that come with a particular patch. Some require you to use CDMage to extract and DATA_E.AFS and then patch that with ppfomatic3 before importing it back in.

I have "jonboyos all ripkit 28.10.03 patch" and the instructions tell me to extract the file "DATA_E.AFS" in CDmage but it says there's an error when I try. It says "Error reading data track of the image" Could you please tell me why this happens? Thanks

Happy new year everyone!

I'm back in 2004 with more writable CD's and more questions:
According to Nero my patched .bin file which is 706MB does not fit on a 800MB CD-R.. is there anyway around this? (I have also tried using CDRwin and Fireburner without any success)

LeChuck, have you burnt the unpatched bin yet?
Doing that will get us on the way to finding out where the problem is.

No, I haven't and that's only because the recording programs won't let me.. I am starting to think that there is something wrong with my CD-RW drive?

Cheers mate, that helps. Btw did you just drag & drop in Nero and voila? 'Cause I find it pretty hard to make Nero bend my way..

EDIT:

:D After a long and devastating night I finally got it right!! :D

I have patched PES successfully and it looks so much better. It just feels like a new game!

Thank you guys! (Zyg, larsson) What I did was that I re-installed XP and Nero, took the ripping back to formula and... ka-ching!

I recently got myself a DVD-R which had a brand new version of Nero in. You never really need to drag and drop anything you just pick an option from a fancy Menu which says sth like "Burn Disc From Image", which immediately presents you with a dialog box to chose the (.cue or whatever you indicate) file.

So far I 've burned 3 discs all with success. I think the only advice I would give to anyone patching is not, for any reason, brake the rule of the slowest speed.

I have a problem launching WEModCenter. Apparently I'm missing the 'vcl60.bpl' file. Anyone knows where to download this .bpl?`

(I've done a search on google as well..)

Or:

A decent tutorial to patching with AFSExplorer? I want to edit balls, boots and boards to my liking. :)
(Most guides here and on evo-web are based on WEMod, and the AFSExplorer is only vagely mentioned)
