Okay some people are really confused.......

*All ps3 games will be on blu-ray REGARDLESS if they use all the space.

*The ps3 version of pes will not be better than a 360 version. All that is bieng said is that they wont drastically improve the game, or change the game engine, untill they develop for the PS3.
Sony consoles are the native plartform that the games are designed for. They are made specifically for sony consoles, and then ported to xbox ones. This is because winning eleven is not on the xbox, and japan are not buying 360's, its doing badly over there.

*Most 360 games will not use 2 disks, some may in the end of the life time, but there will never be a space problem. Sony have only put in the blu ray drive to make sure that it wins the next format war.

*If a game on ps3 uses more than one disk its because they are using either very sloppy compression, or they have bonus features as is now done on games that use dvd.

Games do not need all that space, games like oblivion which can take 100 hours to complete do not fill a dvd9 disk. Pes will not use the more space, they dont even use half the disk space now.

Thats basically the way it is in a nutshell. Again, its the PS3 fanboys who are using the 'bigger/more is better' argument again, even though they hated Xbox owners using this to slate their PS2s.

Again i have to agree. The PS3 is late because Sony have made a right hash-up of it. It was supposed to be released around the same time as the 360, which says to me that the technology was meant to be on a par. Sony were making boasts about the superiority of the PS3, that they're struggling to keep.

All I have to say is, everything being said here is bull shit and we've got to wait for the Leipzig show to find answers.

A bug that got me mad in PES5 was the problem in the corner kicks. The centre-Backs never were there, trying to score, only when the match was ending and the team loosing...Anyone knows anything about this?

Spot on really.

If indeed the 360 had caught on in Japan, WE games would be developed with both consoles in mind. It's just that circumstance has dictated that the games are developed for the Sony platform over any other. This does not make the Sony version in any way better/bigger/faster/stronger.

If only Microsoft released the 360 in Japan with a good lineup of Japanese games....things would be different....christ, even dead Rising might be delayed until 2007 there :(

For some reason, my CB(usually Hyypia) does come up on corners. I don't know what I do to make him commit, but he does. And yeah, I do hear many people gripe about them not contributing to the attack.

PS3 games are not using blu-ray as of now. Maybe in the future.
PS3 games will still be in the standard DVD format. Same thing like the Xbox 360 games.

Putting it on papers, PS3 is more powerful than Xbox 360.
But on performance wise, the graphics will be almost identical.

Remember how Sony showed us screens of PS2 games before the console launches?
Until now, the PS2 never achieve those high quality graphics.

wrong on both. blu ray will not be used on ps3 straight away it will be introduced gradually, and the hd-dvd will be used for games as it will force a better graphic quality + blu-ray enabled.

I think there's some truth to your statement.

If I remember correctly, the PS2's first games were all on CD-ROM.

The DVD-ROM games were only introduced after the first year of the PS2's release.

I'm sure that games such as GT3, PES1 and GTA3 were all initially released on a CD-ROM. I'm guessing that it must've been from 2002 onwards where all PS2 games were stored on DVD-ROM.

So it's not so unlikely to see the same happening for the PS3 and the Blu-ray discs.

My guess is we probably won't see PES on BD-ROM (Blu-ray) until PES7 or possibly even PES8 is released.

No thats exactly true. They are using blu ray from the get go, I thought most people knew? anyways even amazon points it out

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0009VXAM0/104-1459478-4325529?v=glance&n=468642

Also they have not decided the price of the disks, which may be more expensive the even xbox360 ones are right now.

http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3151823

The price of blu ray disks because they are new, is quite expensive, pushing up game prices using the format.

No you are 100% correct, they definetly used cd rom first. But this time things are diffrent. No one needs blu ray, unless they want hd movies, and to have that you need hd tv, which cost about a grand. And sony know it too, but sony wants blu ray to win BADLY. They have invested everything in it, and they need it to take off now. There are many resons why they have done this, firstly blu ray has a lot of protection on it, all those swap magic users who dont pay for games eats sony revenues, ps2 games are easily pirateble, and that takes alot of money from sony.

Secondly, blu ray is thier format. That means that they dont pay licensing costs to use it, but other companies DO. Therefore sony dose not still want to pay for dvd, now they have thier own format, and with a format war with hd dvd, they cant afford to lose.

Thirdly, unlike dvd the only people who can make use of blu ray need a hd tv. The sales of hd tv have been poor, so if the tv sales are poor, the format isnt gonna sell a lot. Also it serves as a pre emptive strike. Many people dont have hd tv's, but they do want one. So if they have a ps3, they have a next gen format video already. This means when people do have one they wont go out and get the cheaper hd dvd.

Lastly, unlike last genration, no game will ever really need more space. Unless your square who will use some of it, as long as developers use good compression techniques, they wont have a problem. Sony knows that, so if they give companies the choice, they would rather use the dvd disks as they cost less, and sony gets no money.
Besides whats the worse that could happen? Games come out on 2 disks;)

This time thier is a format war, and sony needs blu ray to win, they have invested everything into it, thats why they are using playstation, and its fanbase to take the hit finacially, to be a ps3 owner its gonna cost a lot, and if you just only care about games, I dont think its worth it (yet)

^I agree :). I just wish ps3 would hurry up now, PES7 needs to put that 'spring' back in the series step, plus next gen graphics are gonna be crazy. I have nothing aginst sony, but I do feel the price is way too high. I just want next gen PES as quick and as good, as possible.

I know the PS3 is going to be expensive when it first comes out but after a year or two, I can see the price dropping to about £200 (which is within my price range). :)

I remember Sony doing the same with the PS2. Sony just weren't selling enough PS2s around 2000/early 2001 and so; they decided to drop the price to £200 and guess what? They had a HUGE surge of sales at the end of 2001 (which was documented in the national newspapers at the time).

I can definitely see Sony doing something similar with the PS3 because at £429 (the rumoured RRP), no one in their right mind would spend that kind of money on a games console/DVD/Blu-Ray movie player.

The fact that most people don't have HD TVs to get the best out of the Blu-Ray movie playback doesn't bother me one bit. When the PS2 came out, I didn't think the DVD movie would take off. :shocking: But it did take off and I then promptly went out and bought me some set top DVD Players. :D

If the Blu-Ray movie takes off like the DVD movie did, then buying a HD TV won't be a problem for me. I usually upgrade my main TV every 5 years or so anyway.

But they are already making an loss for every ps sold.. currently, it includes lots of technology that haven't been intergrated to everyday living..

But the price drop strategy may really be in place, where it probably will take 1 yr or more when the technologies such as blu-ray have been fully introduced to the consumers. The huge demand will results in mass productions and reducing the price of components inside the ps3..

the one thing i dont quite understand here is the notion that a game developer would sit back and wait to develop the game for playstation 3.. maybe i just don't know that much.. can someone give me an explaination on why konami is waiting for the ps3 other than "they're japanese" or its "the native format".. you know.. something that makes business sense.

There's futureproofing and then theres the PS3. One step too far. I never thought I would say it but I think Sony could be about to lose it all when it was easier to win.

My 360's on its way.
