PES6 'radically different' from WE10

Magoo true, but I should say that its the official xbox magazine, and the japanaese will probably not get 360 for pro, cause they know it will be on playstation, and they have a big preference for Ps.
His plans for the future pes are good of course, but im hoping they simply sort it out as it is now, I have enuff lag as it is.
I cant wait till pes6 just so people know, but it just dosent feel as 'new' as the old days.

Whether Seabass likes the 360 or not, he can't simply ignore it in favour of the PS3. Konami are obviously trying to tap into the US games market (with WE International in the past and the upcoming PES 2007 in january) and as we know, the Xbox heartland is America. But i agree that the 360 will never take off in Japan, and i would be very surprised if we ever see WE on this format.

Also, its hard to admit, but anyone whos played the latest FIFA on the 360 will know that its actually quite impressive and makes good use of the console's power. The FIFA series is certainly catching up with Pro Evo, and has become so successful through EA's multi-format approach, ensuring that each system recieves the companies full attention. Konami has only just started to go multi-format after all the years of releasing PES only on the Playstation (and ISS on the Nintendo before this) and perhaps this is something Seabass could learn from EA.

The only reason it doesn't seem out in Japan yet is because 'its not ready yet' but will be coming out....

Seabass also believes that Pro Evo will help shift the Xbox 360 and Xbox Live in Japan when it launches – a view backed up by Ninety-Nine Nights producer Sangyoun Lee. “I think we’ll help the Xbox 360 in Japan because our game is so great!” laughed Seabass modestly. (http://www.oxm.co.uk/articles/news/sports/seabass_england_cant_win_world_cup_without_rooney)

Knowing what most of Japan seem to think of the 360, it's could well be true that Seabass is being forced to make the Xbox games but he has got some very nice online plans for this iteration of PES which I'm salivating at....

Pro Evo’s mercurial creator, Shingo 'Seabass' Takatsuka, has big plans for the next-gen versions of his footballing franchise – specifically with regard to online play.

Speaking to Famitsu magazine, he highlighted a desire to realize 11 vs. 11 play over Xbox Live and has now revealed the next stage in the ‘evolution’ of Pro: An online Master league.(http://www.oxm.co.uk/articles/news/sports/pro_evos_master_league_to_go_live)

great link.. peeps shld check out the links.. lots of info inside for the 360s..

It's great to see so many changes, but I still haven't heard about a very important aspect of the single-player experience.

In WE9, in order to increase "difficulty," the CPU simply cheats the human player outrageously. This is especially apparent making the jump from 5 to 6 stars. The CPU has absolutely no increase in the intelligence and quality of its play.

The only way "difficulty" is simulated is through making the human player's men play far less competently, throwing all loose balls to the CPU, and generally making it quite obvious that the algorithms are NOT giving the human player a fair shake. This seems to me to come in very noticeable "waves" of CPU behavior.

How many times can you watch a top-notch winger flub a through pass over the touch line (no matter HOW he receives the ball), turning an open run down the wing into an throw-in for the opponent? How many times have you watched the cheating CPU go on a roll where you simply KNOW he's about to get a corner off of you, and you KNOW it's going to go in? How many times have you watched your goaltender suddenly have his hands fall asleep during one of these "CPU" runs, so that simple shots are fumbled back into play time and again? How many times have you tried in vain to super-cancel and make a player obey you, only to watch the CPU force him to run out of position? This is a CONSTANT factor defending corner kicks. The CPU, especially if it is one of its "CPU Dominance Phases," will literally have your men run out of the box, apparently intentionally clearing the way. How many times have you tried to develop a counter-attack, had the ball on a passer's foot, only to watch your striker(s) sprint insanely offside, running practically to the end line?

The examples are endless, and obviously hard-coded. When you play vs. an AI as much as I have vs. this one, you can FEEL how it's working - like dancing with a familiar partner - and you can tell when it's cheating you.

Anyone who has played this game on 5-6 stars is bound to be intimately familiar with the phenomenon I'm describing.

I love this game (I have played WE7 and WE9 - I skipped WE8 due to the idiotic practice-field training requirements), but I hate this aspect of the AI enough to where I will not purchase further titles until I know this has been sginificantly addressed.

One more issue regarding single-player that I would like to know about is the manner in which CPU-controlled teams play defense. Again, I'm talking about the high difficulty levels on WE9.

In short, they don't mark - they sprint toward whomever has the ball, usually in groups of two or three, in a mad attack to dig the ball out. This (on top of creating the infamous number of fouls) almost forces a fast-break, counter-attack style of offense, unless one is deliberately wishing to slow down the pace of the game and is willing to pass back unnecessarily just to slow down the pace artificially.

The CPU defenders attack the ball so aggressively that the most advantageous option is almost always to engage in hot-potato passing into the spaces they leave. I hope the notes in the scans about how it's possible to play silky or rough don't just apply to multiplayer, but that they have actually put some intelligence into CPU defensive behavior.

Thanks for the scans, and all the good info here. Ranting done. :D

Well its said PS2 reached its limit in terms of AI so dont expect anything, just wait and see.By the way there never gonna be such problems if they program for the PC,but this is not for here...

some improvements that exist in WE10 and should remain unchnanged in PES6 are:

1)Higher Speed-In my humble opinion PES5 was way too slow
2)Radically improved player response.
3)Improved passing system-Finally...passes go where they are supposed to...

Negative points in WE10 that KONAMI should improve
1)KEEPERS
2)KEEPERS
3)Did i mention it?KEEPERS...
4)And finally, maybe an improved shooting system should be considered.

I hope they improve the AI on pes6, with pes5 you could leave the controller and the CPU controlled players still struggle to score...try it, its a little ridiculous.

Thanx for the scans, mate. Especially liked the straw of hair on the last one. Looks like they've made my desired tweaks from PES5. Can't wait.

are the xbox and playstation2 versions of the current game all that different? is it fair speculation to say that when the game becomes full next-gen, it will play pretty much the same on xbox360 or ps3? i guess thats what i've been assuming... Also since i live in america, our winning eleven 10 (or rather wepes2007) release date is in january, does anyone know if there would be a similar seemingly unneccesary delay for the ps3 version?

I think its fair to assume that the release cycle shall continue with Japan = April, Europe = October, America = January. This means that the first sniff of PES on the PS3 in the US will be in January 2008.

It will at least be completely 'next-genified' by then tho. The 360's version this October in Europe probably won't be much different from the current-gen consoles.

right. so the speculation is that this demo that they're showing in Leipzig is just gonna be a slightly better looking version of WE10? hardly seems worth it...

Sorry but the true next-gen PS3 game will be far superior to the 360 game (I'm talking PES7 here). Purely because the Xbox is nowhere near as big as Playstation in Japan so they will focus on making the game first for PS3, and then porting to 360.

Regardless the 360 and the PS3 will basically be the same come PES7. Whether they build PES7 around PS3 hardware or 360 the only noticable diffrence will be in graphics like in almost any other multiple platform to come out. The mechanics and the A.I and the features; except for maybe online services; will basically be the same build.

Reason being is the cost to make games is increasing so much that a company would be totallly insane to build two diffrent types of games for the same title on diffrent platforms.
