Trailer looks good but they need to show some gameplay.

Wasn't that bad.
It still has a lot to do if it wants me to buy the game.

Wow graphics look awesome, the driving looks a little stiff though, the shout outs looks pretty fun.

Just under a month until release. Surprised there isn't more hype surrounding the game.

I think the hype died down after the many release date changes and the game being pushed back cosntantly to be honest. You only need to see that this thread was created over 2 years ago to realise this. Personally though I'll probably buy it since it comes out towards the back end of August (my birthday is next week so I'll obviously have extra cash injection). I'll probably wait it out a bit though and purchase the collector's edition once it drops in price (quite like how all the collector's editions drop quickly in price now).



Tell me that doesn't look nice. I'm quite an appreciator of artwork and drawings so the art book is a really nice bonus for me, I loved looking and reading through the art book from BioShock 2's collector's edition. I'm still yet to really immerse myself into the BioShock 2 game (I've only played a couple of hours of it!), and the similar goes for Batman: Arkum Asylum! So I've got some really good games to play through, and I'll no doubt begin them once I've completed Lego Harry Potter which I'm loving at the moment.

Demo to be released on 10th of August.

Must admit I'm kinda looking forward to this. Have read that the driving is still a bit naff having not improved much from the original, but I live in hope.

Haha. The demo is alot of fun to play. This might be a must buy.

Driving is really awful but everything else seemed alright.

Just downloading this at the moment, and it's really taking a long time, I never usually have trouble downloading demos, ah well. It's been downloading for around 15 minutes (currently at 77%).

I didn't know the demo was already out!! I'll have to download it tonight.

Mafia is still one of my all time favourite games

Anyone tried the PS3 version? I heard the graphics weren't up to scratch and it suffers from some bad slowdown in places.

I prefer playing third-person games with the dual-shock and there is some exclusive DLC for the PS3 version, but if there's slowdown I'll have to get it for the 360.

Yeh the driving is terrible. I dont really like the massive crosshair either but other than that it seemed pretty good. I like how you can run up to people and get a quick punch combo on them.

I thought it was pretty fun, but like others have said driving was a bit dodgy and the shooting is rather generic.

I don't know where all the complaints are coming from about the driving. If you drive like a maniac over 60mph, then of course you're gonna suffer from out of control handling and such. It's realism. This is a 50's car.

I speed down the roads that I know are going to be long straights, and when i'm going round the suburbs i stick to around 40 and have had no problems.

Anyway, I love this demo. I have played it for around 2/3 hours so far. Found all the playboy centrefolds, had various shoot outs with the black gangs, been called a whop and dago, been fined for hit and runs, bribed 3 police officers when randomly shooting fishermen.....the list could go on.

The soundtrack is superb, the acting is top notch. The only negatives are the no swimming and the fact that trains aren't in it =[

edit - oh and here is a very good thread with any answers to questions you may have. It explains why things like public transport (mobsters wouldnt have used PT, always drove there own cars/with others and looked down on people who used the subway, plus would've ate up loads of memory...) swimming, blind shooting and bailing from cars were left out (

The more i play it, the better it gets. As Jonno said, the soundtrack is great. Driving isnt as bad as i first thought, its just that im used to playing games like GTA where you can bomb it round streets in top notch cars. I love the little sports car you get in your garage at the start. Ive spent ages just driving round in police chases, having shot outs in burger bars and i can only see this game getting better when the entire map is unlocked.

Getting this on release day.
