Had no idea the switch the play accomplishment was so literal when it says switch the play from left to right because I always tried it from right to left and it never worked (my players right footed).

Shaun7 I agree, I have enjoyed fifa for the past few years but as an offline game its embarrassing and thankfully(despite some idiotic flaws) I love PES 11. If you play online I can see why this is a good game, I personally care about gameplay and fifa fails miserably in this respect, it lacks the fundamentals of what makes football. When playing offline fifa is like controlling 11 generic robots against 11 robots on steroids, you could play messi at right back on fifa and it wouldn't make much difference as individuality is almost non existent.

Funnily enough when I first bought 11 i said it was the first football game to surpass pes 5, I realised a week later I was horribly wrong. The only good thing about fifa is manual play, even that has been dumbed down to almost semi assisted levels.

Bah, more accomplishment woes. Found it really difficult to score volleys because the AI is so tempermental with whether a half volley goes towards the tally or not, but finally got the 20 (25?) volleys accomplishment, and eventually the 15 penalties.

It took 7 penalties to get to the 15th one, seems the games against me. All top corner shots as well, bar one hitting the post. Keeper just went the right way all the time :/

So now I have all the shooting accomplishments done, gonna get started on defending

Oh, and is it just me, or does the game monumentally fuck up more when you drastically change teams? I've changed the England team into the U21 team and it has suddenly crashed so many times I've lost count. My VP is a free agent #10 (so he doesn't change the numbers on other teams) and out of nowhere he's #9 in the arena, and on the edit page for him he's playing for Arsenal as number 1, with some weird texture replacing the 1 on his shorts (like missingno on pokemon). Oh, and it just did it again, when the ball goes out of play on the pre-game arena it all freezes but the camera still moves :/ Oh, and when I don't kick it out... The game doesn't load and freezes anyway. What a joke.

Oh god the scripting is so bad in this game. I actually think the scripting ties in with the accomplishments, too. I've realised I've never got the two backheels in a match accomplishment and I've found I can never get the second one no matter how hard I try (seriously, it's just holding back and pressing A, for god's sake). The other one is the 3 cross assists two games running.

Now, don't hate me for this, I'm playing against one of those boosting teams in a 10 minute each half world class game. All the players are a 1 overall and the smallest you can make them. Now for the life of me (I'm in game 2 as well) I have no idea why Terry or Ferdinand can't win a header against them. They either get outjumped (obvious scripting) or they simply back away from the ball. I understand that "easy" games have to be somewhat challenging but it takes the piss when an overall of 1 team can outjump someone much taller and stronger just because the game decides it wants to. Time after time after time...

Fuck it, I might go back to PES. Then come back to FIFA because PES is just as shite, and then back to PES because FIFA is just as shite... Jesus, when did football games go so downhill?

The middle of February I'm guessing. That's roughly what time it came out last year for FIFA 10.

So ... is there a patch out yet? I downloaded the 'latest squads' but they're still the same old teams.

Someone just answered their own question.

EDIT: A google search told me that EA have confirmed the 23rd Feb as the release date. And the update is free, of course.

Anyone fancy a game? I'm on PS3.

Just downloaded the latest update which was required, got all excited that the transfer update had come early (sad, I know), but to no avail.

The transfer update will come as a patch, rather than a "squad update," I would imagine, for the offline play. Then we'll be prompted to download the updated squad update, which will include the new transfers, before playing online.

What's the new patch for?

I hope it's to sort out the EA servers because they're terrible. I'll be on Ultimate Team and I'll get signed out dozens of times in 1 session.

Got that squad update yesterday. About time, too.

And I'm finally patching together a solid run of form in Career Mode. I'm notching more wins and more goals. Dare I speak too soon, but, gone are my days of 0-0 and 1-0 marathon sessions.

FIFA 11 must have been the longest learning curve (Legendary Difficulty) on any football game I have ever owned. FIFA 10 took a while to adjust to, especially with coming from a decade of Konami's Pro Evolution Soccer, but FIFA 11 has been ridiculous. I see the importance of patience, player individuality (especially with the more crisp passers) and organised defending with properly timed tackles. It's a lot more of a "thinking" game than I was ever used to. Some teams quite simply shut up shop with everyone behind the ball, really well organised, and nothing other than a piece of creative brilliance is going to get you that one gilt-edged chance to make the difference. Brilliant.

I'm in the exact same position as you. It's only over the past couple of weeks that I've started scoring more goals. I also agree with your comments on Legendary Mode. Something else I've noticed is that the computer seems to learn your style if you play the same formation and tactics for too long. I tend to change it slightly half-way through the season, which has been working a treat recently.
