Have you also tried Inzaghi instead of Crespo? His positioning rocks!!( and that's hard to admit due to the fact, I hate Pipo!)

About the manual bar, you really should give it a try, works for me.
Use the same defending tactic with your defenders as you do with the dmf's.
Hold him up and let the reinforcements arrive.

One-two's are defendable. Use R2 + running to walk along with the player who started the 1-2.
Use the pressure button to defend the other player.
Also, when somebody uses 1-2 near yoy goal area, let the keeper out early, to intercept.
And the offside trap, both manually and in tactics are useful against 1-2's, so keep the offside trap at A.

Off topic; You;re Dutch right,Han?
Are you gonna compete at proballer? It's a major tournament!

Good advices; makes me change my way of playing though, so it will take some time to do that, especially the way you describe to get the 1-2 out of the game.
Yes I am Dutch :) Proballer is that big off-line tournament they hold in the Feyenoord stadium, right? I think the chance is very little to win and compared to that the sign-up fee is in no proportion, pretty high, so that's why I do not join it.

Yes, you're right about proballer. But still, I'm gonna compete, just to see how high the playing level is in Holland. I consider this as a nice day out with fellow PES-lovers.

You should also check www.pesgroningen.nl for tournaments.
You can win good money prices, that ARE in proportion with the sign-up fee.( cheaper then proballer).

On topic: hope my tips help and are compatible to your playing-style.

Question for you: how do you defend against players who are good in dribbling?

Mine is to let the cpu player pressure the dribbler while I stay behind with my player.
This is not a 100% working tactic though. I'm curious if there are people who use different methods.

The sign-up fee is pretty high, and then I have to buy a ticket for the train so it would be even more expensive. Besides that, I think I'm a reasonable PES player but perhaps I suck big time, it would cost me a lot of money and maybe I would lose my first match, how fucked up would that be.

About the tournaments: I organize a Dutch one and those from PES-Groningen are amongst the players. I just wrote a PM about it, so check your PM ;)
I defend by just keeping a bit distance and try to be in front of them. At the right time I try to tackle, but that is hard timing if you have some lag on LIVE :)
(My host is good, but when joining it sometimes is a pain...).

-->Nacco, first I thought I am a pretty decent player, but I have second thoughts now :D

Try and replace Cafu, you have enough fire power going forward try a more defensive sideback.

Some might call it cheating but a friendly foul while the opponent is still in his own half shouldn't get you a card and hopefully stop a counter attack, but some people may frown upon that :D

Another option would be to play something like 3 4 3:

------------ Dida --------------
---- Stam - Nesta - Maldini -----
- Gattuso ------------- Kaladze -
--------- Pirlo ------------------
--------------- Kaka -----------
---------------------- Serginho -
---- Shevchenko ---------------
------------- Crespo -----------

Use Shevchenko to run at defenders, Crespo as support, always ready to latch on to a cross or through pass.
Sorry, tried this out, but I lack support in the middle. Pirlo and Kaka are on their own this way and I was overrun all the time overthere. I tried moving up Gattuso and Kaladze, but that made the defence too weak, epsecially at the wings. So this did not solve my problem :(

Wew, inter milan, you want the 5-3-2 formation team from the left.
Toldo
J.zannetti
Mihalivic
Materazzi
Coco
D.Stankavic
Davids
Kily Gonzalez
Adriano
j.Cruz

Play adriano on left wing if kily not available

Shouild play Martins or Vieri( Vieri would be best) for Cruz, and Veron to replace either Coco or Kily.

Hope it helps, i know jMz can do this better, but im trying. :)
This is an early version of Total Football that Ajax played in 1970.
Total Football isnt easy to work out in a footie game, because players wont switch positionss with eachother, unlike the usual Total Football.
Even the attackers often helped defending

I thought total football was like this:

--------------------GK

--------------------SW

----RB--------------CB--------------LB

----RM--------------CM-------------LM

----RW--------------CF-------------LW

?
Ah, i dunno.
Just play bloody 4-4-2 innit......

Could be, but as i said it is an early version of total football( say 1970) played by Ajax.

Still i prefer the 3-4-3 formation instea of 4-4-2 :)

inter should be playing 4 - 4 -2

Cordoba sweeper, materazi stopper. with j. zanetti and coco pushing forwards as fullbacks

2 dmfs in the middle zanetti and cambiaso/davids works well - or u can put veron in there as well for his long passing abililty.

Have 2 omfs wide left and right (note. can even set as wingers) - alot of options here. Emre/Recoba/kily on left and van der meyde/veron on right. Are your best bets.

then vieri and adriano up front with vieri low defense and forward attacking arrow, with adriano in behind him slightly to the left. high defense and forward arrow also.

alot of your play should be through adriano who can then either turn himself or distribute to the wide men.

When you attack in this formation with a good positive build up it effectively turns into a 2 - 4 - 4.

there seems to be a big 'hole' in the centre...and Zyg's one just like an ordinary 4-3-3....
where is jMz when i most need him.... i want to play Totaal Voetbal!

The website mentions 'centrally positioned' midfielders. In PES language that would be CMF! Also they work from one sideline to the other. I guess Haan and Neeskens are CMF's having attacking arrows to the left AND the right then!
It's fun to tweak around and get 'totaalvoetbal' to work in PES! I think, however that it would be difficult to get it to work because you need eleven versatile players!
I also feel that a 4-2-4 formation in PES is bound to fail against skilled human opponents. But, on the other hand, if you keep possession of the ball, it might well work.
Rinus Michels, rest in peace

i like 2 set up like chelsea wit the 2 flankers cuttin in and makin a 3 up front wen u have the ball

ahave you tried 3-4-3. you score loads but are exposed down flanks. Works well with inter, AC and Brazil. You need 3 class defenders.
