Basic Guide to Patching WE8:LE & PES4 for PS2 (DVD only)

Patched games only work on chipped or modded PS2s. There is a sticky thread explaining all the methods you can use to play a patched game.
The other methods are flip top lid and the slide card.

First of all you need to use your original PES4 DVD to make an image onto your PC and then patch it. And you need a DVD-burner with blank DVDRs.

1. Downloads.
You will need to use these programs

a)DVD Dycrypter,
http://fileforum.betanews.com/download/1011845169/1
http://www.dawnload.net/video_softw...d_decrypter.cfm

b)ppf-o-matic3 (also known as pdx-pom3)
http://www.paradogs.com/download/pdx-pom3.zip

c) CD/DVD burning software such as Nero or Alcohol120%.

d) Plus the PES4 patch you want to use - such as the jonboyo one found here.

Most patches come compressed as rar files so you need to check this thread to find out how to unrar (uncompress) these to give you the actual patch files which are .ppf files.

2.
Create an ISO from your original PES4 dvd game using dvd decrypter or other ripping program.

a) Put your Original PES4 dvd in your PC dvd drive
b) Open DVD Decrypter, go to MODE /ISO / Read
c) Choose your destination folder eg origPES4
d) Press the go button (dvd->Harddrive symbol)

(pic thanks to jag87)

This gives you your original ISO.

3.
Open ppf-o-matic3. Select your ISO file from above.
Select your .ppf patch file. Click Apply. Wait for the ISO to be patched.
If you also have patch update files, you can now apply them to your ISO as well using the same method. Select the same ISO and the next patch and click Apply.

Read the instructions that come with each patch to see if there are any other methods or techniques you need to use when patching. This is the most common and basic method usually used.

4.
Now you are ready to burn your patched ISO image.

I tend to defragment my hard disk at this point. Then you should shut down all other programs (or better yet, reset your PC).

Open Nero or Alcohol120% and select the Burn As Image or Burn Image option. Select your patched ISO file. Insert a blank DVDR and set the speed to be as slow as possible as this is better for the life of your PS2 laser. If you use cheap DVDR types and/or fast burning speed, this is not good for the life of your PS2 laser. Set it to burn and leave it for a while. It will take time so be patient and don't mess with your PC otherwise there is a chance that the patched disk won't run.

Once it has burned you can now play your patched version of PES4 on your modified PS2 (using either a chip or a fliptop lid or a slide card - more details on this over here).

If you can follow these instructions, you will soon be playing PES4 looking like this for example:

(thanks to jonboyo's 10th october patch for PES4).

This is a basic and simple guide to patch PES4. If you have a dvd-burner and a modded PS2 then you should have very few problems. Post questions and such here and we can try to help you.

Hey does this work the new WE8Liveware edtion...do i follow the same process ?

Yes the same principle applies to WE8:LE.
Just make an image of your original WE8:LE and patch it with the Gangsta patch (plus updates) and burn.

Please do not quote large posts. You could just write "does the method in the first post of this thread work for WE8:LE?".

All I can suggest is that you make sure your using a fresh, clean unpatched ISo. This is very important, also make sure your burning at the slowest speed. Don't know what burning program you use but this is probably the best program for making iso images and burning it's called dvd decrypter and you can get it from here www.dvddecrypter.com You said it works ok with other games so your media should be ok. Other than these things there's not much more I can say, hope this helps ;)

thank you so much for this prompt answer. i burn the game with 8x speed (nero). i try to burn it now with a lower speed. but one thing i forget to say in my posting before.

when i burn my created iso file, the ps2 will start the jap. version without any problems. but after i put the patch on the "bootable" iso file, the ps2 doesnt boot the game.

maybe its truely the burningspeed. special thanks ² billsterno1 for this nice answer

i made an iso file with dvddecrypter. the filesize is: 2,31 GB (2.490.499.072 Bytes). it is the same size from your iso file? maybe thats my mistake. who knows? i try to patch the game 3 nights ago. i hope, i can play the game today ;)

Hello people, i have just bought this game from play asia.com and im happy with the game, but looking at your PATCHES it makes me want them, so my question is, will the PATCH method (i.e. dvd encrypter etc...) work on my eMac (Macintosh) computer or does it just work on PC's???????

We8i

Hello, first post, I am an american who just purchased WE8I and am EXTREMELY interested in patching. I am curious whether this would work for WE8I and also am wondering whether Reefus 0.9 patch would work with WE8I. I ask this because all of them are for WE8:LE. Thank you in advance.

Hi, I hope some of you can help me to solve my problem. I've created a PES4 Iso from the original PES4dvd for PS2. Then I patched it (Julian 22 patch) with ppf-o matic, and I saved to my desktop. So now I have to burn it on a DVD.
I opened Nero, and I 've choosen the "create a UDF-ISO disco", so I put the patched Iso in the project. But when I have to make the burning start, my notebook says "there is no dvd in the drive", even if I have put a dvd-r into it.
How have I to do? Maybe my recorder doesn't support dvd-r, and can only burn on dvd+r? Or have I done smthing wrong?
I've also tried to burn my patched Iso with Dvd Decrpyter, and when I have to start to burn my dvd, the "dvd image" doesn't switch on, just as any dvd is in the drive.
How can I do?

i would say go to hp website and download a driver mate and also check the specs of ur cd drive while ur there to check if it does dvd-r's or not, also when u want to burn ur patched dvd on nero go to recorder and go down to burn image. If that soesnt work i would say get alcohol 120% that is more suited to burning iso's of games. Hope this helps.

Nothing to do. I've also update the firmware of my DVD-recorder (toshiba odd-dvd sd-r6252), I tried to burn my patched ISO with Easy Cd creator, Alchool, Nero, Dvd Decrpyter..nothing at all. The message I finally read is "insert a writable disc" or "no disc in the drive". Can someone tell me how to do?
I'm going crazy
