Been there :smug: Old Olney's just easier to get to and a few mates of mine haven't gone there as there is bugger all to do, apart from tear a few deathclaws a new one.

:chanlaugh: Reminds me of my first encounter. I headed south from Megaton to begin with (rather than follow a mission I just went for a wander), into the DC ruins. Bad move early in the game when your puny little arse can get shafted by a single mutant  I vivdly remember the screen going quickly greener as this big ugly fucker came charging at me with what i later found out was a nailboard. It might've been ok had I not used up my 10mm ammo on scorpions and was left with just the bb gun :faceplm:

I remeber the fist time I met them I was sent on a mission to the ruins and met them at the bridge over to the ruins, I knew I was beat and jumped clean off the bridge into the water. I figured radiation is better than death

Yah I prefer the enclave armour to the brotherhood armour. Most times I don't even bother with armour, I usually where Eulogy Jones' Red Jacket and my Shady Hat.

Yeah I never really bothered with the armour, too bulky for my liking. I had the shady hat and some sort of long coat, I stole them from the women that wants bad guys fingers

SPOILER

I thought you got that talking medical power armour from old olney?

Thats a great reason to go there :\

Yeah thats the one ;)

Other than finding caps in containers, or safes, and on dead enemies (usually Raiders), my other avenues of income were via selling scrap metal to ol' Walter at the Water Processing Plant in Megaton, and through hoarding every single piece of apparrel, and every last weapon I came across, and storing it in the lockers in my house (in Megaton). I later repaired those weapons, and the apparrel, to a decent condition (for more value) when my repair skill was capable enough, before selling it off to Moira Brown, or the travelling traders. I would then buy as much ammunition, and stimpaks, as I could afford. I would of course keep the weapons I planned on using, for future repairs.

You should sleep in every available bed you come across out in the wastes, as it really saves on stimpaks and food (which - in relation to food - keeps your radiation level down).

I don't know how far into the game you are, but a few early quests that I would suggest are the "favor" for Colin Moriarty, which involves looking for a woman called Silver, and the quest tied to the bomb in Megaton, as well as the quest from Moira Brown which involves going to a Super-Duper Mart which has it's fair share of Raiders and containers within. Those quests saw me come across some much needed caps early on.

Oh right, cheers mate  :)

I'm not really far into the game, just creaping up to Level 4 and there's 2 quests open for me to do at the minute; 1) get to GNR 2) Deliver Lucy's message to Arefu. I also have that Colin Moriarty cunt, saying he'll tell me where father is for 100 caps. But I don't believe him.

After luckily finding a Scavenger in the Wastelands and killing him, I got some handy stuff, including 100 caps. No Rad-Away to cure my Radiation though.

Now I have a decision to make: either pay for a bed, pay for the Doctor to cure me (the bar is about a quarter of the way right, so I guess I'm not that desperate yet?), or to keep wandering the Wastelands in the hope of finding people with decent apparel, and killing them. I have about 20% health at the minute.

Hmm, not sure what to do...

I've only ever been over-irradiated twice. And one of those times it was on purpose, for the sake of a quest which saw the radiation cured for free afterwards. And the other time was from exploring a damn bunker that was irradiated to hell and back! That one cost me 100 caps to get cured by that ignorant tosser Doc. Church. I'm now going to stock up on Rad-Away, and Rad-X, and purchase a Radiation Suit. I believe I saw Moira Brown selling one with 30% Radiation Resistance, although that specific item may only be available after doing a quest for her, I'm not sure. It doesn't weigh a lot, 5KG, I think, so it can chill in the inventory.

Don't worry too much about radiation. I've been irradiated to the stage that my Rads was hitting upwards of 700! Even 800! It does hinder your S.P.E.C.I.A.L stats at varying levels, Endurance most of all, but only temporarily. It's a pain, but it won't stop you in your tracks unless you were to completely max out your Rads level, I believe. I eat the various irradiated food, and drink from fire hydrants on occasion, to save on using Stimpaks, then knock back a few doses of Rad-Away (not always enough to cure me completely) when I come across it.

No need to pay for a bed, mate. You should come across one sooner or later on your travels. Where there are Raiders there are often digs to sleep. And so long as you have done away with all nearby enemies you'll be able to catch a few Zzz's. 1 hour is all that's required to see you return to full health, with the 10% XP bonus for being well rested.

Excellent once again mate :)

I'm up to Level 4 now. Really close to Arefu, which is where I need to deliver Lucy's letter. Just tussling with this Mirelurk. Bloody annoying things!

Aye. Mirelurks are a pain. I actually never came across a Mirelurk until I was around 20 hours into the game. I guess I'd of been level 7, or thereabouts I was underground, beneath a train station, and upon sneaking around a corner expecting to find a Raider, confident with my Combat Shotgun in hand, I see this gaint crab-like bastard with fuckin' immense body armor, for skin! I fired a few rounds into him, before going into V.A.T.S. when he was closer, and putting two more rounds straight into its face. The next one I came across took a sneak attack critical Hunting Rifle shot before he knew what was happening. That evened the playing field!

They can soak up a decent amount of damage, though. Them and Radscorpions love to eat up my ammo.

I came across my first Yao Gaui last night. I just about managed to end him before he was on top of me. He was leaping through the air, clawed paws ready to smash into me, gaping maw ready to rip my throat out, as my final Shotgun Shell thudded into his frame, leaving his lifeless form to fall back to the earth. The next one I came across was again closing the distance on me in record time, as I bring up my Chinese Assault rifle and unload the entire clip into the onrushing beast. Well, I had two bullets to spare before a reload would've been called for, leaving me in a world of trouble I'd rather not experience!

I fought my first Super Mutant Behemoth the other night, too. It was a bugger of a contest, but I didn't die, which I was expecting to. I used a good few stimpaks and a fair share of ammunition, though. All in all he went down to a few Frag Mines, a handful of Chinese Assault Rifle clips, and a lot Combat Shotgun reels. I was running around a hell of a lot, mind, because when he hit me I sure as hell felt it.

I'm doing good so far. Now nearly up to Level 5. And I met Moira in Craterside Supply, Megaton and took up her quest, helping her with the book she's making. I've now got to go into Minefield and go up to the Playground and bring her one of the landmines (optional).

I went into Minefield and I'ts a good job I saved it beforehand. Bloody manic!! I think I may need to level up before going there again.

Mind you, I've just discovered the Scrapyard next to it. And found Dogmeat :D So now I have a companion. So far, he seems handy.

Excellent once again mate :) Just tussling with this Mirelurk. Bloody annoying things!

Go for the face whenever possible. Serious weak spot. My fave trick if one is facing away from you is to fire a single shot into it's back from range, then when it turns, use v.a.t.s to get as many rounds with an accurate weapon to it's mush. If you have Ol Painless, or better yet Lincons Repeater you're set. (I tended to avoid the sniper rifle early on as I could never find them oftern enough to keep it in good enough condition for regular use.)

Dogmeat is a liability. I didn't bother with him until near the end & only then just so I could satisy my curiosity. In sneak mode the bugger blows my cover far too often, so he's sat in my Megaton house, keeping the place tidy...

I'm not sure, but I think targeting their limbs inflicts more damage than targeting their torso. But the face is indeed their serious weak spot. If I can't get a clean shot at their mug, though, I choose a limb and riddle it with bullets. Their torso is the equivalent of a fuckin' armored tank!

I've yet to come across a Mirelurk Hunter, or any of the other variations of the species. My mate has, though, and said the Hunter was a right bastard to put down.

And you're exactly right with regards to the Sniper Rifle. I'm over 40 hours into the game, and in the early stages of level 10, and I've came across maybe three sniper rifles. I just gave in and had Moira repair it for me once, at a hell of a price. I've still to get my hands on one of the unique hunting rifles. But a regular one is doing the job just fine, for now.

I've left Dogmeat at Vault 101. I have went back for him to take him exploring with me a few times, but it's just a hassle with this (stealth) character. I do wonder at times if he is going to run into some enemies, such as Talon Company Mercs who I've found often walk that road, and end up snuffing it.

Mirelurk kings are the bastards....The hunters aint got shit on them!

I only met them after I was seriously levelled up, so have little problem with them. The ones that keep annoying me are ther giant radscorpions, especially in the grassy areas of the wasteland. Difficult to get a good lock on them with them being so low. More often than not I'm having to wait until I can get a lock on their stinger with it being the highest point. Buggers always travel in pairs as well.

Anyone know if it is possible to get onto the roof of the Super-Duper Mart? There's an abundance of Alien Blaster ammunition up there and I can't get at it!

I think this is a random encounter, so it may not be there for everyone. I was just passing the Super-Duper Mart on my travels, when a critter came up on my radar, to the South wall of the Mart. Never one to pass up a little experience and loot I veered in its direction to sort the blighter out. Turned out to be a Giant Ant. Crusing the fact it wasn't a Radier I turned to head off, again, but then I caught a glimpse of something glimmering in the darkness just a few feet away from the lifeless bug. To my surprise there lay an alien power cell! I found five, in total. They were all lined up like a trail of breadcrumbs. And that trail of breadcrumbs keeps on going, on top of the fuckin' Super-Duper Mart, where I cannot reach!

 Not come across that one before!

I might have to check that out. It's been a long time since I was last near there.

I tried stacking the emptry trollies on top of one another in a bid to make a sort of assending stairway, but the slightest miscalculation in jump has the whole lot collapse! It could be possible, if there are enough trollies, and one has the patience to persevere, and a good slice of luck, perhaps. Other than that, I see no way to get up there.

I didn't find much when Google searching keywords. But it seems there are certain random encounters in the game, one of which involves a secondary alien crash that can occur in a select number of areas, if not any area, one of those being the Super-Duper Mart. I'm not sure what wreckage is to be found, if any, but in the aftermath of said crash there is a scattering of Alien Power Cells, and the Firelance, a varient of the Alien Blaster.

And sod it all, mine seems to have fallen onto the roof of the Super-Duper Mart. Curse you, you incompetent developers!

That reminds me of the tower that is surrounded by walls, I first came across it on the opposite side of the gate and went about jumping over the wall. There is one area its possible but I still ended up doing the quest at the gate later on so all my jumping got me in but was worthless in the long run

Quick, I'm going to the game store in about 20 minutes and i don't know which game to get. It's either this or dead space. I played the demo for dead space and its quite good. One question, is this game difficult to get into?

Anyone planning on picking the DLC up tomorrow then? I'm waiting for a review before I buy it, but I'm buying the points tomorrow regardless.
