I encountered a glitch the other night which occured a handful of times, even after a re-load. This glitch would involve certain areas in the foreground having a rather large black canvas of nothing where a great deal of environment should have been. Either side of this black screen would be fine, and depending on where the player was positioned it would disappear and then reappear.

This ain't anything serious, is it?

Quick, I'm going to the game store in about 20 minutes and i don't know which game to get. It's either this or dead space. I played the demo for dead space and its quite good. One question, is this game difficult to get into?

Which of the two did you end up going for?

I've got the Dead Space demo, and have been considering adding the game to my collection for a while, too.

Fallout 3, though, is one game that I'd rate as a must buy.

Got the new DLC today, so far so good it's alot different than being in the Wasteland I somewhat prefer it.

What, so its an entirely new story and setting? Where is it set?

Erm I'll write it in white as it will be a spoiler to anyone downloading it.

SPOILER!?!?!?
It's set in Alaska(palin land) you go to a Outcast Outpost in the wasteland they then lead you down into their base where you find they ask you to go into the simulation(Alaska) and then that somehow opens the armoury in their base, I'll leave it at that.

Not really.

It's set before the nuclear bomb I believe (Though, I am actually not so sure on that..). Where the Chinese assault the Americans. They play it up as a big war in the main game, so really it makes sense to have it as DLC. Though personally I cannot wait for March's DLC the most, and when they increase the level cap. I'd say Operation Anchorage is worth the money. I enjoyed it, and you also get new gear afterwards, without spoiling anything. Here, read this:

In this DLC pack, the Brotherhood of Steel Outcasts are trying to acquire advanced military tools, and the only way to enter the vault containing these relics is by completing a military simulation only the player can enter. In the simulation the player fights in one of the greatest battles of the Fallout universe: the liberation of Anchorage, Alaska from invading Red Chinese troops. The simulation is set between June 2076, when the T-51b Power Armor was first introduced, and January 2077, when Chinese forces were completely driven out of Alaska.

Once the DLC is downloaded, the quest objective for Operation: Anchorage will be activated by a radio broadcast stating, "This is Defender Morill, any Outcasts listening on this frequency report to sector 7-B, Bailey's Crossroads. This is a high-priority message, backup is needed at our location. Any personnel listening on this frequency please report at once." A marker will appear on the world map but the player cannot immediately fast-travel to the location to begin the simulation. The DLC can be played at any time after the player exits Vault 101 at the beginning of the game. After completing the simulation, new equipment will be unlocked for the player to use in the rest of the game.

In the simulation, the player is stripped of any equipment and weapons and be forced to utilize the resources supplied throughout the simulation's environment. The Chinese Red Army is everywhere, and the player first has to secure the surrounding mountain side and then fight their way into the Chinese base. The player has to use a lot of their standard combat skills, along with several new tools that are only available in the DLC. These include interactive strike teams under the player's command as well as unique armor, weapons, and other exotic gadgets. Throughout the simulation various pieces of intel are also hidden, yielding the Covert Ops perk.

Fallout wikia, tbh <3

Bought this the other day for £20. Im not really a fan of RPG's, my friend told me this was more if an action game :/ but he bullshits me into buying loads of crap all the time. However I wouldn't say this is crap, I like the idea but it's just a little boring at the moment. I hope it gets better.

Should have got it on PC.

Don't worry, the more you play it, the more you'll get into it and want to find out what's going on exactly in the Wastelands. I've never been a fan of RPG's, never, but I'd struggle to put Fallout 3 into that category because it's such a versatile game. I hadn't played on it for about a month, then came back to it the other day and after a few hours play, I'm back into it and want to know more about the story, it's just that sort of game.

Only bad point that I could pick out, is that I haven't really a clue what I'm meant to be doing. I've got about 5 quests to complete, with around 4 of those having no "pointer" on the map, so therefore I've no idea where to go, or how to go about completing them. I'll just do what I always do and wander about for a bit though.

I'm around Level 8 and a half if anyone is wondering.

PS: When abouts do I unlock the ability to create my own make-shift weapons ? (You can put the answer in white just in case it will spoil it for anyone)

I didn't find much when Google searching keywords. But it seems there are certain random encounters in the game, one of which involves a secondary alien crash that can occur in a select number of areas, if not any area, one of those being the Super-Duper Mart. I'm not sure what wreckage is to be found, if any, but in the aftermath of said crash there is a scattering of Alien Power Cells, and the Firelance, a varient of the Alien Blaster.

I just now remember when on the game the other day, a large explosion happening in the distance followed by a cloud of dust blowing into the air. I can only assume this was the Alien encounter! Problem is, I can't remember exactly where I was at the time of this happening, so if I'm going to investigate, I'll have to trudge through a lot of the Wasteland. I believe though, that the explosion may have been somewhere near Arefu in my game since I've primarily been around that area for the last few hours of play. Hmmm....

Playing and loving this right now; i shat myself when I first came across a supermutant while being at level 2 and high tailed it the other way.

Loving the fell, ambience and music of the game but don't really know what i should be doing lol. I think this could be one of those games where there is actually too much to do and see without any real clear direction apart from "head to the galaxy radio sation".

I was wary of buying this, especially as I thought the VATS system sounded wank, but in action, it is perfect =]

Good to hear man. I love this game, one of my favourite PS3 games defo, however I never get round to playing on it :faceplm:, I'll have to go on it sooner or later.

I'm also wondering whether I should get Elder Scrolls Oblivion, I heard it's like Fallout but set in Medieval times? Anyone have Oblivion? How good is it compared to its brother Fallout 3?

Oblivion is good but Morrowind, its predecessor, was superior in a few ways. Oblivion's shortfalls are not limited to its item:level scaling (when you're a high level, even crap enemies drop top quality items which is an awful scenario) and repetitive environments (though these can in part be explained away by the area of the gameworld this particular edition of the series is set in).

That said, Oblivion is an excellent game and I played it a lot more than Morrowind. Both, in my view, would have been better games had they been PC exclusive as its pretty clear to see where console considerations have altered the way in which certain programming objectives have been achieved.

If only they'd release a bug-free version of Daggerfall, Morrowind's predecessor. That game was utterly amazing but had hundreds of bugs due to its size.

Currently doing the "blood ties" quest. After reaching arefu i go to inbestigate three locations at the dead of night, i get to an outdoor cinema and start sneaking round, wary of who or what may be around me.

Suddenly, i hear a whoosh behind me, i'd been ambushed by a supermutant brute with a rocket launcher and blown into chunks.

This game is so awesome.

Been really getting into teh "history" of the fallout series, and having it returning to the west coast could bring some really good things back to the series, like brothels, the mob and a much improved and strenghened BoS.

I need to finish 3 though first =]

I got it the other day for a fiver. Its not my type of game, at least thats what I thought, but for a fivber I bought it anyway, to add to my collection if anything.

Been really liking it everytime I play. I basucally just been fucking about, but Im following my Da's footsteps at present. I was at GNR when that Super Mutant Brute ambushed us, but I managed to toast him, eventually, with my Flamer because I forgot that I just picked up the Mini-Nuke.

Great game, cant wait to get my dog but can anyone tell me if there is any other means of transport?
