I hope EA make a separate World Cup game next year. And it better be a stand alone game like the last one and not the WOAT Euro 2012 extension. FIFA World Cup 2010 game was fun as hell and it captured the atmosphere really well.

I just couldn't get Barbados to the World Cup though :jt2:

I still haven't hear any info about this but I would expect an add-on like the Euro. Not sure how well selling an entirely new game will work these days.

Pretty cool trailer. Very big emphasis on the crowds though. Don't know what that's meant to portray.

It's supposed to distract you from the PS3/360 port. FIFA 15 should hopefully be a lot better on PS4/X1.

Looks like Bale's off the cover too.

Hopefully they (EA) are still going to put a lot of effort into FIFA14 for the PS3/360 i.e. give it the same features as they will on the new consoles that they are bringing out, especially online features.

Would really suck if EA turned out and said "oh sorry, we're discontinuing the Matchday Updates on the PS3 as that's old gen"

so much time, money, and energy put into the stuff that we X through regularly. I know they word hard on the game but very few errors in the walk-in, but plenty on the actual game play.

I enjoy playing against the CPU, it is the only way I can play league matches, not an online match where I can only get and english team versus a central/south american side.

Because of this, here are 5 items that must be fixed when playing the CPU for '14 in order for me to enjoy the next installment

1) Eliminate ball magnetism. Its as if the ball is on a tractor beam between cpu players. This results in the following issues
----Automatic passes from cleared corner or emergency clears that target directly to the CPU player. Even headers on a cleared corner magically go directly to a cpu player 100% of the time
----Automatic passes to a cpu player when I tackle the ball away from from the cpu. This is really unbelievable
----The invisible forcefield on the side and endlines that prevent a CPU clear from going out of bounds so they can retrieve it, whereas my lobbed balls pick up speed after bouncing so I can't possibly catch up to it. Most of the time the ball is lobbed with enough height to the sideline that a CPU fullback or outside midfielder has ample time to run out there before the ball ever lands. If it does it magically bounces inbounds versus falling out.

2) Horrible player switching. If the ball is tackled from me, or if I deliver a foolish pass that is intercepted by the cpu defender in front of me, I am suddenly switched to another player away from the ball. Amazing that FIFA13 had this problem, its 2013, this should have been worked out 10yrs ago.

3) Moving my player away from high balls such as a deflection after a shot. I have watched my player jockey out of position from where the ball lands. I can't control this player because as #2 suggests, the horrible player switching moves my control away from the ball.

4) The crawl after the ball is tackled away from me. Suddenly my player seems to be accelerating in sand after possession is lost, or when chasing a deflected shot in the opposition's 18yard box

5) Even out the time it takes for a player to stand up if fallen to the ground. This is similar to #4. If i fall after the cpu tackles me, or typically after I take a shot in the box, my player will struggle to stand up. However, if the cpu player falls after I tackle the ball away they stand back up in time to chase down the free ball before I can even get to it.

I will be buying FIFA14 without question to play clubs. But if these items are not fixed I foresee myself also buying PES even though I absolutely despise option files.

Players can also disable the initial transfer window upon their first year in Career Mode, to allow for accurate, real-world squads. Afterwards, regular transfer options become available during the January transfer window.

That's good.

Sheff Utd better have a good budget to play with, from the start! Wanna sort the mess out. I also hope they've improved the realism too. Can't be doing with signing some quality Chelsea midfielder on loan in my first season, or signing Kaka' in my third season. Would never happen in real football.

that's why i only play one season and start over. Even with transfers turned off to start, i fear January will make up for it.

I only played 4 games last night but here is a mini review

Matchyday Live - it appears as if they eliminated the season component to matchday live, where in 13 you could play the next 4 games of any club's schedule. Maybe that was redundant since you could just pick them but I thought that was the best and most useful feature of downloading matchday squads and playing in this mode.

I chose the manchester derby as my first fifa14 game under Matchday Live. They had some boner for Fellaini because he was shown in every cut scene, talked about by the commentators repeatedly. First commentary was how disappointing that in his first game for his new club he went out with injury, even though he was in and healthy. Then, they congratulated him on his first hat trick even though the score was still 0-0.

Drop In Match - this was hilarious because it i played 3 matches, 5 v 5 or 6v6. No one knew what they were doing with the new feel.

You certainly cannot run up an down the pitch like you are playing basketball anymore. I am very pleased about this. The new play demands back passes but no one does this and I don't expect that will change. EA did us a big favor in slowing the game down and clogging the midfield better.

Joel, dreadlocks are locked. My VP started as an 80, not sure if that is tied to 13 or they just start you off stronger. I chose a playmaking DMF, and I noticed the value of stats categories were a little higher than where we started in 13.

Overall - I loved that the game play was slowed down. I played on "slow" setting offline and thought the pace was perfect. Online, this carried over well and didn't feel a big pace gain on Clubs Drop In.

You can no longer abuse the sprint button. I wouldn't hold the sprint button down to receive the ball unless plenty of green space in front of me because the first touch is a little more exaggerated than last season. Protect the Ball on clubs was nice.

Momentum is so much better. You have to plant a rear foot before starting up or changing direction. I imagine this feel is what angers most speed addicts but i love it. Perhaps a little too exaggerated but still, it is more realistic. EA most certainly just didn't give us only new kits and squads. At first, I thought it looked choppy, as if there were frame rate issues, but once you get a feel for what is going on it looks more natural.

Through balls feel different. I felt like you could put a ball on through in space for a winger more realistically. You can pass a ball between the LB and the keeper to have it end up deep in the deep corner for your running winger. In 13, the CPU would always unrealistically intercept this. But it is not a spam action, because even though you receive the ball, you won't be able to just turn it towards goal as the LB will cut you off. Seemed more realistic.

Overall, I felt the CPU allowed you conduct actions you could not do in 13. A lobbed ball is always met by the CPU head, but no more. There is better balance in cpu defensive ability. Less of a cheating feeling. It was noticeable in a few minutes of playing. But don't take this as weak CPU defense because they clog the hell out of the midfield.

I like this version. I am sure I will start griping later but I enjoyed what I played after my eyes got used to the differences.
