GTA IV Official Thread - not that it needs one now there is an entire section

Having GTA in London Manchester and Birmingham would be awesome - just to hear the accents as you run over people in your Mini Cooper.


Anyway, I got my first taste of GTA IV at a mate's house today.

It's good. I certainly enjoyed getting pissed then crashing and bailing allowing Little Jacob to blow up (then dying myself when trying to see where he was in the car). And when I got pissed with Roman, trying to drive the car over the river via the ramp was cool - I bailed too early and died off a building mind.

Steering however isn't as good as in Vice City (although it's probably better than San Andreas) and braking with the back buttons feels dirty and wrong. Also, despite it not being technically steering, trying to guide Niko through doors while running is impossible, as he has the turning circle of a lorry with a drunk driver.

Gunplay is absolutely excellent, and the detail is amazing. Very funny too - call me immature but I found Roman and Niko talking about titties in a car hilarious.

Didn't change my life, I still want the game loads, I shall get it when it goes down in price, but I really enjoyed it. I didn't get to sample the online play, which sounds like where it's at.

Finally settling with the game, today oppened up the second island and discovered i can take friends to the strip club and you hook up Niko with other dates

Anyone noticed a train crash yet? I didn't think it was possible but on one of the bridges between Algonquin and Kings today I noticed two trains had hit each other and derailed. I haven't heard of this happening. If they could derail above the streets, just imagine the carnage......

Well I finally got the game, couldn't be arsed to wait, and so far its great, but i've only played for about 20 minutes. Cant get into it at the moment and I wont be able to try online soon as Orange need 3 weeks to change my details. Cunts.

Turns out it was scripted, and just for that mission only to stop the bikers. A real shame.

I wish they put in the Twin Towers, however I heard somewhere that's why they didnt include planes in the game.

They won't want sad people doing reconstructions of the disaster. still, it would be fun :biggrin:

I would love it if the next GTA was in England around the 70's or 80's. With all the skin-heads and football hooligans. Could be missions where u have to plant a bomb in a football stadium or help the riot police capture the fans in police-missions.

Would be awesome if the islands were: London, Manchester, Birmingham, Liverpool, Sheffield.

Maybe Belfast and Glasgow aswell once you get further in the game.

I would think that islands being London, Birmingham, Liverpool, Manchester and the mighty Sheffield would be prefectly in line with Rockstar's own personal geography... hardly inch perfect is it?

In that mission for Dwayne, did you let the girl live or die? Usually in them situations I don't think twice and just shoot straight away - but I let the chick go on that one. What about you lot?
