Version I'm playing is alot different to the demo. Something to do with passing has been toned down. Only played a few games on All Pro but seen some dodgey shit. 2 seconds ago managed to make the Bucs punt on their 1 yard line, he fucks the punt right into Ninkovich's hands on the 13 yard line which was run straight in for a TD. Seen a few of the Buccs players celebrate when I score a TD, Hightower was Playing in two positions according the formation thing that pops up on the screen.

Nothing too major so far, the Career mode is looking good. I got slated on twitter for cutted a player :'(

Btw Gronkowski is awesome ;)

I had a feeling Gronk was going to be unstoppable. In 12, it can be a bit of a steal to throw to the TE all game because the inside seam route is very hard to stop. Once Gronk's stats were upped for this version it was going to be tough. Then again, he terrorized real defenses all season long so not that off the mark. But I just hope I can't glitch someone with a low end TE.

I will have to put Polamalu on the Gronk all game long. Maybe double him with the inside backer. After all, not going to hurt me with the wideout.

Why can't they get the celebrations correct? This is minimal and never ruins the game for me but why can't they get it right?

that punt thing is weird. In the end, Madden never pisses me off like PES can, so much more enjoyable of a game. I generally like to play 12min qtrs offline, so FIFA can dominate my playing time because I don't care as much if I have to stop a match and that can happen quite often, but I hate stopping a madden game at the half.

The game seems a lot harder than the demo, unless it's just cos I'm tired. 4 games into the season with the redskins and it's my first win. Monster game for my D. 8 sacks on freeman and 3 interceptions which were all user picks :smug: finished 35-17 was 17-14 at HT

Must admit I'm really enjoying it thus year. Need to learn a lot though!

Wish I could watch more NFL just so I can get use to players, teams etc.

Had a chance to mess about with maddencareer.com which is pretty good for comparing stats etc.

You can also attempt to trade with other teams that have players on the trade block or you can sign free agents. You can also release your own players.

One of the better things, IMO of course, is that you can upgrade your players from this. Your players earn XP as they perform better they get more XP, the higher the players OVR the more XP points it takes to update certain parts of there game.

I've just done my entire team and it didn't take long at all. The fact you can view latest news and 'twitter' is a plus as well. Pretty awesome stuff really. I cannot for the life of me understand why people are calling this game shit, granted it's not perfect but what is?

Edit:

BTW can we edit the title of this thread to just 'Madden'

It sounds like the game modes have been given a proper overhaul this time. I've played 1 game on the demo, thought it was pretty good. Might actually get this once it gets cheaper.

To avoid disappointment Bish don't get this game if you like the fantasy draft in Franchise mode. They've also taken out the edit player mode in the career but they're thinking about patching that back in (which I hope they do).

Lots of small niggly bits to be patched too but it's an EA release so what do you expect?

Stupid game substitutes your Punter out automatically without me realising meaning punts on both sides go about 15/20 yards If I'm lucky......

Some irritating shit happening that didn't happen in the early release version of the game. :|

still haven't played but sitting in box for later tonight. not getting this punter thing, so on 4th down punt formation it is replacing your punter with another player?

Yeah pretty much. Not sure if it's a glitch or it's a stupid substitution being made by the AI.

Finally won a game in pre-season (3rd game with Redskins) 32-27. 2nd and 3rd stringers aren't great. No run game, WR's dropping every fucking pass and CPU catching alot of INTs not dropping a single one, where's as my CPU likes to swat away easy catches.

Gonna be a loooooooong season.

Ok Apps, help me out here.

I see Franchise is now "connected careers". This might be a deal breaker for me off the start but perhaps you have found a work around.

the problem: I refuse, absolutely refuse, to play full seasons with rosters at the whim of CPU decision on player movement, or even depth. I hate this about FIFA careers and if they did the same to my Madden I will be very pissed. I only play realistic rosters. None of this b.s. where a star WR is suddenly traded (akin to watching Lescott and Kompany being sold in FIFA every career season).

In every previous version we were given the opportunity to control all 32 teams, this way if the real NFL roster had a personnel move I could emulate it. I only played one team but I could also emulate the real depth chart of all other teams and simulate their games, so if Russell Wilson (from Richmond, VA) takes over as starting QB for Seattle, I could control this. When I guide my steelers through their season I always play against the starters the actual Steelers were pitted up against. I usually follow a season by playing this game the weekend after it was really played. I have been doing this since the first time I every bought madden on PS1.

It seems to me now that we can only choose 1 coach for career and will be at the whim of the CPU for it to decide the fate of every other roster move and depth position.

Tell me this isn't true. This seriously is a madden ender for me.

I won't even play it. Just shut it off without starting a game.

:'( Unfortunately it's true. Hopefully they'll patch some stuff.

For me Ignorance is bliss :smug:

I admit I got annoyed with the game last night but it was due to sheer frustration of how shit my O-line is and how my 2nd/3rd string recievers were constantly dropping the ball or the other team getting insane interceptions.

I am still so disappointed over not being able to control 32 teams.

I wonder what the difference is between online vs offline Connected Careers. Online you can play by yourself. I wonder if this will track roster changes of opposing teams? Even so, you would not be able to go back in time and "relive" a season through 32 team roster changes.

Started a CMode coach, played one-half of a preseason game. I see what you mean about 2nd string receivers. My 2nd string qb went 0-9 in the 2nd qtr because the wide open receivers kept dropping the ball. So I shut off. Will have to go to regular season and skip pre.

I think the punter sub problem is only because of preseason. In the 2nd qtr my punter was subbed by my placekicker. Madden has never got the preseason subs right.

also they have never nailed down special teams lineups. My starting ROLB, MLB, SS, and CB should not be on the kickoff team. We used to be able to select our special team lineup back in PS2 days.

I really like the in-game play, that is from snap to whistle. Hugely disappointed with game modes as stated above.

some glitches. CPU Punt returner called a fair catch, even Jim Nantz announced fair catch, so I let up.....PR then ran with the ball for a big return. Earlier the CPU called a fair catch and my defender auto slammed the "defenseless" returner to the turf. should have been a penalty. This used to be penalty back in Madden 09.

The shards of green glass (that's right glass) that comes up from the turf from our shoes digging in look bad. Last version it was flakes of grass that looked great. Don't know why they changed it. small thing.

not sure if a 5 second playclock warning but a few times the screen became blurry or low definition right before the snap and then reverted back to normal at the snap.

Online is better as it saves automatically, applies patches etc automatically. They just change stuff server side and it changes for online CM whereas offline CM you have to wait for the patch to be released through sony/xbox.

Yeah it's fine during normal season just annoying during preseason when your opponent only punts 15 yards......

Strongly agree. Bit of a shame really as the gameplay really is the best I've played in my (short) Madden playing career.

That's weird... Not had that happen to me :S

the Infinity engine does provide some great physics on tackles. I wish they would fix momentum. Just as last year, too many safety or linebacker tackles that just stand up your running back. In real life, most of the time a RB gets another yard when tackled from just falling down and gaining their body length, but time and again routine stops in Madden look like highlight film bone crushers.

I mentioned this during the demo, but the control of defenders is vastly improved. My favorite play in Madden is using the inside linebacker to scrape across the line of scrimmage when a run goes to the other side of the line from him, then pop the gap to drop the running back 1 yard deep, usually from the side on a waist high tackle. I find that so gratifying and this looks and feels beautiful in Madden13.

We can't use customized rosters in offline connected careers :shocking:

2 decent 83+ ovr recievers in S. Moss and Pierre Garcon and yet they still drop open catches. Really annoying especially as I have no running game because my O-line isn't the best especially at RG + RT. No blocks, no pass protection and when I do get to through they always drop the ball.

Time to look into different slider settings.

that is a problem then.

Interesting you went skins over pats. hmmm

Notice my edit above - you can't use customized rosters in connected careers - even offline mode. wow - they really through us a dud of game options.

This will really hurt me after the season because in April I create all the big draft picks and play them in a season, but won't be able to anymore. that is why they probably did it, to force us to buy the new one....but I already do, yearly without question....until now.

Wanted a challenge but this is rediculous. Saying that I'm 2mins away game time from going 2-0 in the season  Struggled like fu... to score against the Rams!

Punt returned for TD was a highlight though.

Ok I beat the Rams 21-12 alot closer than that though... 2 TD's in the last 2 mins for me thanks to some RGIII magic

Punt return for a TD???????? That may be the first time I have heard of that since Madden 06. I am not kidding. KR for sure, but PR.

Possible work around the 32 team control in careers...not the best but something. If you go to EA Madden13 forum you will see me cussing them up and down for removing this feature (swanndoggy)

OK, here goes
1)retire from your coach after you played your game that week
2)sign up as new coach you are about to play the following week
3)sim that new coach's week (unless you want to play that game), reset depth chart
4)retire from that coach
5)sign on as your original coach

not the best and too hard to gain full 32 team control, but it would allow me to gain control of the team I am about to play against which is most important for me. I am just a stickler for authentic play (why I went to 4-2-3-1 in Fifa). Liked the PES demo II btw.

Yep. Punt return. Never done it before but it was awesome. Spin move followed by me breaking a tackle then round and up the sideline.
