well theres many great games out for ps3 and i just think getting it for mgs is just another good reason for me to get it, as is the thought of next gen pro evo

Came across something very interesting a few minutes ago, and I'm sure it will get everyone talking about the multi-platform rumours again.

HMV is now taking pre-orders for both the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of Metal Gear Solid. But the 360 version isn't due until five months later...

Here we go again. The latest 'MGS4-going-multi-platform' rumour is interesting for two reasons. Mega entertainment retailer HMV is taking pre-orders for the 360 version right now and the firm even dates both versions of the game.

Metal Gear Solid 4 will apparently be available from April 18, 2008 on PlayStation 3 only according to the listing. Then, just over five months later, the Xbox 360 will be blessed with Solid Snake's presence on September 26 (one year exactly after the launch of Halo 3, trivia fans).

Pre-order the 360 version of MGS4 here. But for a limited time only we reckon. It'll come down as soon as word gets out, which it already has.

It would save me about £500, so yeah, I'd be willing to wait.

I reckon it's just a mistake though tbh. If it was to come out on the 360, we'd have to wait at least a year.

HMV were also the ones to state that Final Fantasy XIII was out this September, and Unreal Tournament 3 as a 360 exclusive. :huh:

The fact it's just HMV and no other companies whatsoever makes it suspish.

Yes, it is. It'll remain a PS3 exclusive until Konami announce it for 360, obviously. And there's no guarantee that will happen. I reckon Kojima's a bit of a Sony fanboy, myself, and he'll try and keep it on PS3.

I'd probably say it's a PS3 exclusive, so far at least. But I do believe that it may very well come to the 360 if the PS3 sales don't pick up over Christmas like hoped for.

yer seems quite possible cant see thousands of people without ps3 buying it for mgs4, althought i am but for many other games too if you havent guessed, im a bit of a sony lad myself lol

I'm 50/50 on it coming out for the 360. The main reason I think will, is cos this is Kojima's last game as Metal Gear producer/writer/or whatever it is he does, so he'd obviously want to make as much money as he can on it and with the 360 having sold about 11 million units, he'd be daft not to release it. Although Kojima has apparently said he's having trouble fitting it on 1 blu-ray disc. Which made me lol.

Oops, it sounds like UK retailer HMV made a mistake and caused quite the fanboy frenzy this weekend. Yesterday, HMV started taking pre-orders for a yet to be announced (or even confirmed) Xbox 360 version of MGS 4, which in turn caused a lot of fanboy arguing and excitement that a retailer was actually acknowledging the game's existence on the 360. But fanboys, it was all a mistake. This morning GamesIndustry.biz caught up with the UK retailer to talk about the MGS 4 listing when HMV admitted that the pre-order page was created in error saying that,

"In his enthusiasm, one of our online games team indicated that hmv.co.uk would start taking pre-orders for MGS4 on Xbox 360, when, in fact, he simply meant to ask customers if they wished to receive an alert in the event of this title one day coming out on this platform."

So, there you have it. It was a simple admin mistake and now we know that the retailer didn't have any insider's information. We guess it's time to restart our countdown clock and wait patiently until the next "MGS 4 is so headed to the 360" rumor surfaces. We'll give it another two days.
