Right then guys (& gal if she's still about), after the initial leak on tuesday of some juicy info & an interview with "mole", the interpretation of the info has spiraled somewhat across the web so I thought it best to clarify a few things, and consolidate all the info we have so far into 1 post. No one expected the news to spread so quickly that within 24 hours the whole online PES world had the interview, most featured on their frontpages. Had i have known that, we'd have tidied up the forum, locked up Jamie & i'd have used the spellchecker before posting it perhaps even put a bit more thought into the questions
Winning Eleven Next-Gen Blog have brought their podcast in early this week and although it is 45 minutes! i was shocked at how quickly it went by, it was a good listen and worth it if you've got some time spare, as long as you can excuse the over enthusiasm in their voices Click Here to download it. They cover almost everything i have mentioned, and go a little further on some of it, which mole has also confirmed so they are speaking the truth & if anything this should bring more credibility to this info.
There are however moments in this podcast where moles comments are brought into question, but to be honest, it's more a result of misunderstanding rather than incorrect info & the guys over there acknowledge that. It seems to have stemmed from the very first question where i asked about the gameplay. The reply was "The gameplay is PES2008, the way it should have been". The question was asking whether it was closer to PES6 or 2008, so he answered 2008, but with all the things that are wrong with it, put right. This is a very broad statement and i'm shocked at the number of people who read it as "a repaired version of pes2008". Further down the interview he says that the shooting is totally different, and you can no longer run past players with players like Messi, hardly the mark of "a repaired version of pes2008".... He has also told me that the through ball system is also quite different. The point he was trying to make was that it is NOT a new game engine, as some were expecting, it is instead 2008 but with all the bad features improved, like the ease of scoring, poor accuracy of through balls, running through whole teams with 1 talented player. He has also since mentioned that it does run slower than 2008 & that the infamous RT shot now invariably floats into the keepers arms. There is a whole section in the podcast relating to how mole thinks the graphics are the best he's seen in a sports game, but the truth is he never said that at all. He said they were similar ffs, but that the lighting effects were the best he'd seen, not the graphics on a whole, and again this is just his oppinion, + he hasn't seen fifa09.
The guys over on WENB are under embargo on a lot of things so are not allowed to put stuff in writing, but i have signed fuck all so I will attempt to colate the things revealed so far.
The game features fully licensed clubs with kits & club names from Spain, France, Holland & Italy. The game features non licensed clubs from England as usual with the exception of Liverpool & Man Utd who are fully licensed. Carlsberg does not feature on the liverpool shirt. Now the only thing here that should be noted is that although the spanish league has fully licensed clubs, the league itself is not licensed. Meaning it will be called Spanish Division or something, rather than La Liga.
Bayern Munich are no longer in the game. They have been replaced by Zenith St Petersburg, exactly what it says on the tin really.
Adam (in the podcast) touches on a new control system for manual passes in 2009 on the podcast, and later last night let the cat out of the bag on the WENB forum, so i'll just clarify here for u PELL UK'ers who probably haven't been arsed to go over there to look. Manual passes no longer require you to click the right analogue stick to make them, u simply point the right analogue stick in the direction u want to pass and it does. Hold it for longer and it's harder. Simple? yes, a fantastic alteration in my oppinion. But what about tricks I hear you asking... well, all you do is hold down RT and your normal analogue stick (or D-pad if ur xquis1te) turns into a tricks stick, much like the right stick is normally in 2008. Superb!!
Become a Legend Mode, or a total knock-off of FIFAs "be a pro". You start off with a trial match you dont get to see your personal stats until after this match. The better you play, the better your stats are to start off with. After the trial game you get offers from various clubs & once you join you play for the reserves in training against the first team to see if u can force your way in. Really really good idea & a bit of a variation on FIFA's offering, I think it could be the way forward. Obviously from there you begin your career, the better you play the better your stats become.
Online Play. There is no confirmed info from me for online play. There is a strong rumour for 7vs7, but this is far from confirmed. Playing master league teams online is also not 100% confirmed, but they can be used outside of the master league just like on 2008 so for them not to be able to be played online would be completely illogical & stupid on konamis part.
Wembley has been added to the stadiums list, and looks awesome!! Anfield & Old Trafford are NOT in it, despite moles speculation that they might be.
Recently used teams. Something that was announced last tuesday but didn't get picked up on was the addition of a "recently used teams" section on the team select screen. Does exactly what it says on the tin really. Is a useful option in my oppinion
Champions League. Is it in is it not? Lots of people seem awfully convinced it will be in there, and from what i'm told they have good reason to be. However mole confirmed that so far there is no sign of champions league at all in the code of 2009 they have. It has been suggested that it could be incorporated into the master league. If this is the case, then it would feature in season 2, which mole has not reached so cannot confirm or deny this. It could also be added in later code, COULD being quite a weak word in his oppinion.
Team Editor. This is where myself and mole have let you down slightly. We have no real interest in the editor in 2008 or 2009. I asked him about it, and he said, "looks pretty much the same as before", now when this was questioned by others in the know he's looked into it more and there are a few additions. This says it all really "i hardly looked at the editor. Bored me to be honest." & i personally agree with that statement. There are additionally licensed boots and balls along with a fuck load of shirt options for all u editing bods to drool over.
There is an option to import chants into the game in the form of mp3 files, these can then be asigned to specific clubs. WEBN seem to think this is unique to the playstation versions of the game, which could well be the case. How exactly you get a file to sound like a crowd chant i have no idea, but i would imagine there will be an array of different files available once all the option file editing goons get their hands on it.
So far NO pictures or Youtube videos posted of the menus are authentic.
There have been no "slowdown" or "framerate" issues reported from anyone who has played the game. & online is running spot-on.
Master League appears not to have been altered at all. Colours and fonts etc have been altered to match the new interface, but the general menu layout etc at first glance would appear the same.
The key thing that mole has been impressed with is the collision detection. Gone are the days where you make a perfect sliding tackle that gets the ball then the man, only for it to be called back for a free kick & yellow card. The physics just work.. for once.
So there you go, everything that has been leaked so far, that I stand by & believe in, in 1 thread. We have an improved PES, a working online, improved gameplay, a new fascinating game mode & the simply scrumptious possibility of more than 1vs1 online!!!! How can this not be great news??
With all this in mind, Season 5 for PELL UK will truely be the best yet with the board drawing on experiances during seasons 3 & 4, & building on them to produce the best format yet, messy forum or not, Total Football Management is here to stay!!
Bring on October!!!
