i'm not sure if white hart lane or st james' are in 2008. If they are, they definitely aren't called the correct names. Mole originally speculated that they'd be in there & some ppl took it as gospel, but he has checked and they arent there... yet. so doesnt mean they wont be, but is unlikely if wembley has already been added.

St James Park' was in the PS2 version of PES2008, but it wasn't called St James Park' it was called 'Magpie Park'.

And White Hart Lane wasn't even included in the game.

Just been reading through an old PES forum I used to visit which was a PES League site (www.pelluk.co.uk), and it seems some information has been leaked. There is several pages in the thread so I've gone through it and picked out the information from the source. Note: I'm simply copy and pasting what the source has stated, but putting it in number order to make it easier to read:

1. Man Utd & Liverpool are the licensed teams.
2. Spanish League has not been axed. Same leagues as PES2008.
3. You CAN use Master League teams online!!
4. New Game mode entitled "Become a Legend" more on this later.
5. There is NO Official Licensed Champions league mode. Despite the rumours. More to follow.
6. 19 Stadiums including Wembley. Ps3 version though so could be different.
7. No Bayern Munich.
8. The team replacing Bayern is Zenit St Petersburg, with an improved Arshavin.

Here is an interview the member of the PES League site has done with his source, this shows some extra details:

I think the diving option is a dumb idea and a waste of a button cause that button could be used for something more important!

Right then guys (& gal if she's still about), after the initial leak on tuesday of some juicy info & an interview with "mole", the interpretation of the info has spiraled somewhat across the web so I thought it best to clarify a few things, and consolidate all the info we have so far into 1 post. No one expected the news to spread so quickly that within 24 hours the whole online PES world had the interview, most featured on their frontpages. Had i have known that, we'd have tidied up the forum, locked up Jamie & i'd have used the spellchecker before posting it perhaps even put a bit more thought into the questions

Winning Eleven Next-Gen Blog have brought their podcast in early this week and although it is 45 minutes! i was shocked at how quickly it went by, it was a good listen and worth it if you've got some time spare, as long as you can excuse the over enthusiasm in their voices Click Here to download it. They cover almost everything i have mentioned, and go a little further on some of it, which mole has also confirmed so they are speaking the truth & if anything this should bring more credibility to this info.

There are however moments in this podcast where moles comments are brought into question, but to be honest, it's more a result of misunderstanding rather than incorrect info & the guys over there acknowledge that. It seems to have stemmed from the very first question where i asked about the gameplay. The reply was "The gameplay is PES2008, the way it should have been". The question was asking whether it was closer to PES6 or 2008, so he answered 2008, but with all the things that are wrong with it, put right. This is a very broad statement and i'm shocked at the number of people who read it as "a repaired version of pes2008". Further down the interview he says that the shooting is totally different, and you can no longer run past players with players like Messi, hardly the mark of "a repaired version of pes2008".... He has also told me that the through ball system is also quite different. The point he was trying to make was that it is NOT a new game engine, as some were expecting, it is instead 2008 but with all the bad features improved, like the ease of scoring, poor accuracy of through balls, running through whole teams with 1 talented player. He has also since mentioned that it does run slower than 2008 & that the infamous RT shot now invariably floats into the keepers arms. There is a whole section in the podcast relating to how mole thinks the graphics are the best he's seen in a sports game, but the truth is he never said that at all. He said they were similar ffs, but that the lighting effects were the best he'd seen, not the graphics on a whole, and again this is just his oppinion, + he hasn't seen fifa09.

The guys over on WENB are under embargo on a lot of things so are not allowed to put stuff in writing, but i have signed fuck all so I will attempt to colate the things revealed so far.

The game features fully licensed clubs with kits & club names from Spain, France, Holland & Italy. The game features non licensed clubs from England as usual with the exception of Liverpool & Man Utd who are fully licensed. Carlsberg does not feature on the liverpool shirt. Now the only thing here that should be noted is that although the spanish league has fully licensed clubs, the league itself is not licensed. Meaning it will be called Spanish Division or something, rather than La Liga.

Bayern Munich are no longer in the game. They have been replaced by Zenith St Petersburg, exactly what it says on the tin really.

Adam (in the podcast) touches on a new control system for manual passes in 2009 on the podcast, and later last night let the cat out of the bag on the WENB forum, so i'll just clarify here for u PELL UK'ers who probably haven't been arsed to go over there to look. Manual passes no longer require you to click the right analogue stick to make them, u simply point the right analogue stick in the direction u want to pass and it does. Hold it for longer and it's harder. Simple? yes, a fantastic alteration in my oppinion. But what about tricks I hear you asking... well, all you do is hold down RT and your normal analogue stick (or D-pad if ur xquis1te) turns into a tricks stick, much like the right stick is normally in 2008. Superb!!

Become a Legend Mode, or a total knock-off of FIFAs "be a pro". You start off with a trial match you dont get to see your personal stats until after this match. The better you play, the better your stats are to start off with. After the trial game you get offers from various clubs & once you join you play for the reserves in training against the first team to see if u can force your way in. Really really good idea & a bit of a variation on FIFA's offering, I think it could be the way forward. Obviously from there you begin your career, the better you play the better your stats become.

Online Play. There is no confirmed info from me for online play. There is a strong rumour for 7vs7, but this is far from confirmed. Playing master league teams online is also not 100% confirmed, but they can be used outside of the master league just like on 2008 so for them not to be able to be played online would be completely illogical & stupid on konamis part.

Wembley has been added to the stadiums list, and looks awesome!! Anfield & Old Trafford are NOT in it, despite moles speculation that they might be.

Recently used teams. Something that was announced last tuesday but didn't get picked up on was the addition of a "recently used teams" section on the team select screen. Does exactly what it says on the tin really. Is a useful option in my oppinion

Champions League. Is it in is it not? Lots of people seem awfully convinced it will be in there, and from what i'm told they have good reason to be. However mole confirmed that so far there is no sign of champions league at all in the code of 2009 they have. It has been suggested that it could be incorporated into the master league. If this is the case, then it would feature in season 2, which mole has not reached so cannot confirm or deny this. It could also be added in later code, COULD being quite a weak word in his oppinion.

Team Editor. This is where myself and mole have let you down slightly. We have no real interest in the editor in 2008 or 2009. I asked him about it, and he said, "looks pretty much the same as before", now when this was questioned by others in the know he's looked into it more and there are a few additions. This says it all really "i hardly looked at the editor. Bored me to be honest." & i personally agree with that statement. There are additionally licensed boots and balls along with a fuck load of shirt options for all u editing bods to drool over.

There is an option to import chants into the game in the form of mp3 files, these can then be asigned to specific clubs. WEBN seem to think this is unique to the playstation versions of the game, which could well be the case. How exactly you get a file to sound like a crowd chant i have no idea, but i would imagine there will be an array of different files available once all the option file editing goons get their hands on it.

So far NO pictures or Youtube videos posted of the menus are authentic.

There have been no "slowdown" or "framerate" issues reported from anyone who has played the game. & online is running spot-on.

Master League appears not to have been altered at all. Colours and fonts etc have been altered to match the new interface, but the general menu layout etc at first glance would appear the same.

The key thing that mole has been impressed with is the collision detection. Gone are the days where you make a perfect sliding tackle that gets the ball then the man, only for it to be called back for a free kick & yellow card. The physics just work.. for once.

So there you go, everything that has been leaked so far, that I stand by & believe in, in 1 thread. We have an improved PES, a working online, improved gameplay, a new fascinating game mode & the simply scrumptious possibility of more than 1vs1 online!!!! How can this not be great news??

With all this in mind, Season 5 for PELL UK will truely be the best yet with the board drawing on experiances during seasons 3 & 4, & building on them to produce the best format yet, messy forum or not, Total Football Management is here to stay!!

Bring on October!!!:D

Am i the only one really looking forward to PES Now? Become A Legend sounds fantastic, if they have improved everything wrong with PES2008, I can't help but imagine that KONAMI have been listening to us and maybe PES2009 can be better than FIFA 09

I know I am. Last year's was awful by their standards but it was still enjoyable for the most part (though I finished with it at least a good month or three months or so earlier than I normally do for any Pro Evo), after hearing the last podcast on WENB I gotta say they've got me excited for this one.

I'm also looking forwards to PES09, because (even though it is ridiculously outdated) a version of PES6 with good Graphics will always be an enjoyable game.

However, I would really appreciate it if Konami introduces a few New Player Attributes -or- replaces some Old Stats with New Stats.

For example replacing the Old Passing Stats; Short Pass Accuracy, Short Pass Speed, Long Pass Accuracy, and Long Pass Speed -with- Short Ground Pass, Short Lobbed Pass, Long Ground Pass, Long Lobbed Pass, Short Ground Through Ball, Long Ground Though Ball, and Passing Technique.

I would really like to see some aspects improving, for example ONLY 2 Stats determine a player's Dribbling Ability.. So, I would just like to see a PES with more Depth and Substance in every aspect -and- in order to do that Konami needs to introduce some very important Stats that are currently missing.

And again, by plain Logic -in- order to make a better Football game, one must include more Stats and Special Abilities -so- that the game becomes more about Team effort.

Who's the better Defensive Midfielder?? What type of player fits into your Tactical scheme?? This are the things I would like to see in future versions.. the kind of things (questions) that are unimportant now -because- you can effectively place a star-player in ANY Position.

I mean, something that must be improved in current Football Sims is their Tactical Awareness.. How a player reads the game from all different Positions in the pitch.

For example, Juan Roman Riquelme is probably the best player at reading the game (and moving according to it) from the Attacking Half of the pitch. On the other hand, Makelele (although NOT as good at reading play from more Advanced Positions) is just as good at reading play from Deep Positions such as the Defensive Midfielder role.

I would like to see those BASIC differences in future versions of the game.

It is that feel of indifference that really bores me -the- FACT that the Stats and Special Abilities are too Limited to properly cover many BASIC aspects of Football. I would really appreciate it if Konami can turn PES into a more realistic Football Sim.

But anyways, I'm also looking forwards to PES09.. hope it's a decent game, something new and different.

^The abilities and stats really bother you do they? Well you're not alone. I hate it because they're so outdated.

^The abilities and stats really bother you do they? Well you're not alone. I hate it because they're so outdated.

It bothers me because it just feels so INDIFFERENT.. everyone haves the same Dribbling Moves, any star-player can be successful in any position, Michael Ballack is better than the likes of Riquelme and Zidane, there's no Stats to cover for Shielding, etc, etc..

I mean, the Passing Stats are very outdated, just 4 Stats to cover for Passing?? Passing and Movement makes Football -and- as such Passing and Movement should be a priority.

And what about Finishing Stats (in this case Shooting Stats)?? Not even a Stat for Chip Shots, or Long Range Shots.

And Dribbling Stats?? Dribbling Accuracy and Dribbling Speed? Call me crazy, but 2 Dribbling Stats just doesn't cut it for a PS3 Football Sim. At the very least, future versions of PES should include Dribbling Stats such as; Shielding, Cutting the Ball ability, Dribbling Technique, and Body Feints.

Examples are endless, but I won't bother you with that now.. The point I'm trying to make is that PES6 was good for it's Time, but for a PS3 game it is very Outdated; the Stats and Special Abilities are outdated, the Controls are outdated, etc, etc.. The whole game is outdated because it is merely a touched-up version of the previous installment.

So Bottom Line is that even a version of PES6 with good Graphics and some subtle Tweaks -haves- plenty of room to improve, and some obvious things that must be done in order to improve is to include a system of Stats and Special Abilities that covers all the many Different Aspects about Football.

A Next Gen system of Stats to cover all the many faces of Football; Strength, Pace, Technical abilities, Tactical abilities, Passing abilities, Finishing abilities, Shielding ability, Defensive abilities, Attacking abilities, First-Touch (Trapping) abilities, etc, etc..

All the many Different Types of Skills (and Players) that make Football a Team effort -rather- than a sport run by Individuals.

New boot licenses: http://www.winningelevenblog.com/forums/topic/695

Or for the brand name impared...

"There seems that there is a possibility of being able to select your boots, which in-turn opens up a window of a variety of different colours for each brand."

Seems a logical guess. I would've loved to have seen some Nike Talaria IV and Puma v1.08 FG though. Ah well, still an early build and overall a nice selection.

^That's cool. Seleting your colour is definately an awesome editing option.
Amateur you're abseloutely right. The whole game is outdated.

Ok, i would just like to talk about what a system analyst does, when he integrates a new system into the old one.

First of all, to introduce a completely brand new system its time consuming and costs lots of money, thus you would be waiting for a new copy of PES for a good few years.

What i think Konami are trying to do is, slowly break away from the old system while introducing new aspects to the game. A complete overhaul all at once is way to risky, due to reputation and playability of the game. There is no guarantee it will play like games of old. So you have to try and understand the stance of Konami and the way PES is developing for the next gen console.

Personally i think its a sensible approach to what is already a big franchise, adding teams doesn't really matter to me, but the overall experience of PES that we all have come to know.

finally konami pulling there finger out a bit and getting some new licenses this is good news.

Excellent news about these new boots, I honestly would never have expected Konami to grab these licenses for the edit mode. Hats off to them. I would have been elated with just 16 slots and Adidas and Puma boots, but also to include Nike is top draw. If we're able to further edit these slots too, then it really does seem like Konami are throwing a lot into edit mode once again. Again, the licensed balls is also excellent news.

Obviously the gameplay is the key element combined with the AI, but just having so many options in edit mode such as the 80 kit templates, 16 boot slots with added licenses etc will just make the game that bit more realistic. Every player will now have an added sense of individualism and it's also the little things that count.
