PC Troubleshooting Thread (PES 2008 ONLY)

Hello everyone. I am so desperate to play this PES 2008 on my laptop. Last year I was able to play PES 6 and it ran so smooth. I know that my graphics card isn’t good enough because PES 2008 just keeps telling me that then crashes. I have tried kitservers and trying to reduce the resolution but I just cant get them to work. If somebody can please tell me how I can do it. I don’t mind how crappy the graphics are I just want the gameplay so I can enjoy it. I live in the united states so it doesn’t come to the US until next year.

I am also getting very poor performance on the following:-

BFG 7800 GSOC
Pentium 4 3.6 GHZ
2.00 GIG Ballistix Ram
XP

Regardless of settings it is piss poor.

Wondering if my 22" widescreen is causing this due to the bigger viewing space creating more work on the g.card?

Depends what resolution you're playing at. A 22" can go to 1680x1050 and your first test would be to try the game at 1024x768 and see if performance improves (and considering your graphics card, I'd expect it to). I'm sure it is a graphics card issue as the processor is fast enough and the RAM is adequate.

Your probably right with the g.card which pisses me off when i paid £240.00 for it last year.

It is SLI supported so may buy another one and slot that in there.

Your right i do play at 1680 x 1050 but other resolutions look extremely poor and unplayable.

A 512MB 8800GT is retailing for around £150 at the moment and outperforms the existing 640MB 8800GTS. New GTS cards are out next month but nobody is sure of the price. They are expected to be better than the existing 8800GTX.

That said, don't buy a graphics card until you're certain it is the issue - which means trying to run at 640x480 just to make sure there is an improvement and that it is the graphics card struggling and nothing else.

Problem with master league

I ahve abit of a problem in the master league...well two problem really but i think they are related. One none of my players have gained any experiance after 5 matches. I'm a PES newbie so im not sure if this is normal or not. Two every time i try end enter the development screen the game CTDs on me. Any suggestions or work arounds.

My PC is:

Athlon XP 3200+
1Gb RAM
Geforce 7800 GS
Windows XP

Thanks again don, as i have a 7800 GT OC SLI, does it have to be the same g.card you match up with or can you put a different model in next to it?

SLI (nVidia) and CrossFire (ATi) only work with two identical cards side-by-side. For me, not enough games utilise SLI and CrossFire and with the market moving so quickly at the moment it tends to be cheaper to buy a single card one or two notches below the peak (i.e. never a GTX) unless you don't play a lot of the latest games. The way I do it tends to give me a bit more of an opportunity to upgrade more regularly as my initial outlay on a card isn't too bad.

We all have different requirements though so just consider yours carefully

Loading Option File

How do you load the option file? It does not load automatically like in the previous games. Its the edited option file, with the new kits and the whole sheabang. My original directory didnt even have a save folder. Any help will be greatly appreciated. I dont get the same feeling without the real United kit on my PES. Sorry if this noob question, didnt bother to read through. Sorry about that. PC game btw. Thanks

Edit: Okay, feeling quite stupid now bu i reread the first page about the save directory location. The problem is i still cant find it either in the KONAMI\ nor KONAMI\Pro Evolution 2008\ directories.

So created a save folder in the KONAMI\ drectory and copied both the PES2008_EDIT01.bin and the PES2008_OPTION01.bin into the folder. Started the same, went to Sys settings and loaded and it loaded fine. Went to Edit and load data, and it loaded perfectly again. But when i go to select team, then kits, its still the bland, original fake kits for United and the rest. Even the stadium names havnt changed. Cant think of anything else to do.

I'm having the same problem, my Track Records are also not saved - they all got reset to 0 every time I restart the game....

Why can'tI make PES2008 full screen on my laptop? Everytime I try to it says "This resolution not applicable to full screen mode." I've tried it at all resolutions my laptop can handle.

8800 Gt crashed when playing pes2008

hello,

ive got a problem when playing pes 2008 with my new 8800 gt. I asked nvidia n they said, it might be a patch issue. anyone know about this?It is only for pes 2008 other games such dirt bioshock run smoothly.

Master League Issue

Hey people, I guess PES2008 is working ok with me, but I simply can not start a Master League game....when I select New Game it keeps on loading and loading for minutes without something happening..anyone who knows THE PEOBLEM?????????

USA purchase options

I'm in the USA and would like to get PES 2008 for the PC. I don't want to wait for Konami to release over here.

Does anyone know what my best options are?

Can I just buy via Amazon UK and have it shipped? Are there regional encoding issues?

8800 GT Pes 2008 crashed

So, anyone know why pes 2008 crashed in 8800 gt? I believe other people is also facing the same problem with this card..

I fixed my problem.

My processor was overheating like hell (had an idle temperature of around 74 degrees celsius in the BIOS!!)

I removed it and applied new thermal paste, blowed out the dust and installed it again..now it is idling at around 50 degrees.

I overclocked my Nvidia 6800 128mb card to have a core clock of 370MHz and Memory Clock of 800MHz

Running at 1024x768 High at 75Hz refresh rate:
With VSync enabled and frame skipping enabled, around 50-60 FPS.

With VSync disabled and frame skipping enabled, around 30 FPS and slows down to 20 something during replays.

With VSync enabled and frame skipping disabled, around 45 FPS but players feel like they are moving in slow motion.

With VSync disabled and frame skipping disabled, around 30 FPS but the slow motion effect is even more worse!

Anybody has an idea why disabling Frame Skipping causes this?
