Phoned my local Blockbuster yesterday to ask what I was able to trade in order to get Assassins Creed for £14.99. The woman's answers were repulsive, Call of Duty 4, Lego Star Wars the Complete Saga, Tony Hawks Proving Grounds and I think the last one was Simpsons The Game or whatever.

I was wishing I could trade in PES 2008 and get Assassins Creed cheap, but I guess PES is so invaluable, no shop wants it.

What a load of crap, see what seabass just said:
“It’s so far from what we wanted. In fact, we thought about delaying it but different factors meant we had to [release it]. As a developer, we’ve worked the same way since the days of the SNES. We’re simply not set up for multi-platform development”.

Excuse me seabass but I remember you saying that this version was the best version you ever created, also that you're very proud of what you did, and that it's going to be a winner no matter what. I won't be surprised if him and his fellow japanese designers delivered a load of shit the next year too.

I don't care if PES comes out every 2 or 3 years, as long as they put out a quality game that can entertain us (in BOTH single and multiplayer) until the next version comes around. I've deleted PES 08 from my hard drive because it was so boring, a mere two months after its release. Truly sad year for our favourite football saga.

I don't think the online play is that bad on the 360! The lag is only bad for me 1 times out of 5, and although the scorelines are always stupid i.e. 5-4, 6-5 etc. and the refereeing is poor, I generally enjoy playing it because it can be a laugh. Obviously it could be better but we can hope that they do something to sort it out

i hate the master league...the orginal players are much more shit considerably and playing is more stressful than ever. And the stadium edit is erm a dud.

The difference between me n u....

Is that the internet is the only place in the world where you would ever have the nevrve to tell me to piss off.

The game isn't great but it isn't so bad as u said.
So, just get out of here and go play barbie....

my advice to Konami would be... Go back to PES 5, and tweak it to perfection - eg commentary, pitch, and ball physics.

With PES 2008 I don't feel in control at times, and wonder if my gamepad is working! the players don't respond like footballers, and bunch like school kids in playground chasing a ball.

This time Fifa won. PES 2008 hasn't been around for more than a year but it's already extremely easy on whatever difficulty. So many features were removed and the game was modified in ways that make it more of an arcade game than the ultimate simulation. I've always been a devoted fanatic of the PES series but this time EA released a better game.

PES2008 isn't realistic, FIfa 08 is... Enough said

The keepers are terrible and spill everything.
Your defense can suddenly just split and get dragged off easily.
You can barely do a slide without getting a yellow card.
Penalties are given for no reason.
The screen jerks

amongst other things.

I dont know what they were thinking when making this. Stupid usability issues such as selecting someone to take a free kick. what was wrong with the old system of just selecting the player?

If anything this pro evo has taken a step back

oh and the best feature of last years pro evo where you can select 4 teams and have mix of their players has been removed.

Well, i have played a fair number of games to agree at 90% with Hunter.
I havent still decided hit or miss but mediocre teams playing like Classic Brazil (id say!!!), with players pushing to take the ball from you with no foul when at the same time a tiny push from you -if u manage to steal the ball that is- ends up on a foul 90% of the time feels awfull. No matter how good your team is the players seems a bit....unresponsive most of the time....anyways, since i play iss/pro since PS1 i have to conclude in one word....Cheats, i think the game cheats!!!...and that can be really frustrating...:(

To be honest neither FIFA or PES have impressed me. Pro Evo for obvious reasons but FIFA isnt much better, its the same old shit and feels so sluggish.

But they always seem to dissapoint me with a new version.
I think my expectations are to high with a new pro evo I always think they could do much more then they did.
But after a while I'm used to it and hooked again.

the first time i play the new pro evo i hate it, i feel like an ametuar and it feels like i have never played it before.

It's been out for about a month now and i've warmed to it. It feels like a soul mate again :)

Miss, the lag is horrible and there is nothing you can do about it, just now i played a game and had the ball in the middle, suddenly the opponent has just scored without even taking the ball away from me, yeah he deserved that goal. And how about tackling, every other tackle gets you a card(randomly red or yellow) no matter whether you hit the ball or not, this is BS.

Mostly miss. And I've been playing it for at least an hour a day since it was released.

I've bought every version of this game since the ISS Pro days on the PSX. I thought this current game is an improvement over 06, but not much. While there's still elements in the game that remind why I love the series, there are several things that drive me batty.

- The goalkeepers. They drop the ball like a bar of soap.

- The defenders. The amount of times I notice mine and the opposing team's defenders make way/flee from attackers is laughable. It's the reason games end up 5-3 in a 10 minute match.

- The referee. It seems like every single foul results in a yellow card.

- Network play. We all know about the lag but, maybe it's just me, the gameplay also seems to have been stupidly speeded up just for this mode. The result is almost FIFA-esque type of matches. Everyone places a speed merchant on the wings, receives the ball, and is able run past the entire team while your players are helpless to do anything about it or are doing their best to run away from him. I've played over 50 matches online now, and I've noticed the majority of goals I'm conceding are by the other player dribbling past my entire team from the wings.

PES 5 was almost perfection. The physics and gameplay were spot on, and dribbling past players was much harder and realistic than it is now. Please Konami, give the next game PES 5's physics and gameplay, make the goalkeepers, defenders and referees not as moronic and you've got the perfect football game.

on account of PC pes 2008

you do not have to read yet another long post. for many had already voiced their disappointment.

I have been playing pes/we since when it first started. a long long time ago. i switched to pc on pes3 and since then stayed on due to the graphic and detailed gameplay.

pes4, 5 6 one after another people complained about their disappointment. I don't. For i see improvements.

pes2008, honeslty i just played 1 game. i delayed buying because i was overseas. But first impression, it has no connection to past pes at all. the graphics, sound, the feel. totally gone.

i feel as though i am playing fifa98. now i am serious. what is happening to konami?
