It's the first PES game I've been utterly disappointed with.

I'm not a great player at these games but never have I struggled to win or even draw on any of the other versions on regular difficulty because of the cheating AI. Nearly all tackles miss or just kind of stop my player and the AI manages to instantly recover the ball but I lose the ball from the weakest of challenges. Referee's are biased I accidently catch Ai's foot...yellow card, I get pushed on my face...play on, it's a fucking joke.

It really baffles me how the demo had such a well balanced difficulty, had good tackling and referee's didn't get a card out everytime I took the ball. I mean I managed to beat Brazil 2-0 with France on Pro difficulty and I could hardly ever do that on older versions. How did Konami manage to completely fuck the full game up?

I just hope they make amends next year or people will just lose interest.

much better dan pes 6 meaning dat it is always going 2 b a success. frame rate and lag are issues but once these are sorted in the form of patches den it will be amazing. duno y people are complaining so much, people want more but how can u get more from near perfectn.

Class! (ps3)

For the 360...

Pros
-Better edit mode than the last one.
-Improved 'keeper shot-stopping
-Able to quickly throw the ball with 'keepers now.
-Slicker animations
-Still allows a solid game of football
-Top player is almost challenging for a change.
-Team vision seems to have brought a marked improvement on AI.

Cons
-Woeful tackling system.
-Defending against a 'top side' is almost impossible. No matter how well you track runs the AI still seems to drag them out of position by wandering aimlessly up the pitch.
-Slides are almost obsolete.
-Slowdown
-Referees are ridiculously harsh and award freekicks and even penalties for absoloutley nothing.
-Red card shown for any challenge from behind, but almost nothing else.
-Removal of the advantage rule resulting in a booking for an earler foul.
-CPU being too good at dribbling.
-'Keepers being hopeless at dealing with crosses.
-Corners seem to be almost impossible to defend... put the ball in a certain position and it'll be an unchallenged header at least 2/3 of the time despite your playing being marked by two massive centre-backs.
-Shooting feels like the ball isn't inflated.
-Long balls ridiculously fast
-Gameplay ridiculously fast
-Still too easy to score from the classic 'run it to the by-line, cut inside and short pass it across the goal' method.
-Almost all the starting XIs are completely wrong.
-Online is almost impossible to pkay due to the massive lagg.

To conclude I reckon it's much more of a hit than a miss. I thought the last iteration was much better in terms of gameplay, only really lacking in the options, replay saving and editing... etc. This one seems far too arcadey, gameplay is much too fast and the cons I've listed above can frustrate to no end. Having said that, it's still possible to play a fun game of football with a mate, which is all I really use Pro Evo for anyway, but I still think it's a step in the wrong direction.

I think my all time favourite Pro Evo was 5 (I think...) the one where gameplay was extra slow and you had to pass it around much more. This game is too centred around exploiting the weaknesses in Pro Evo gameplay, and when I play the CPU on top player I find it neccessary to resort to the 'cheapest' tactics... ie spraying ball to a good winger and cutbacks. Which don't really make for good gameplay.

Good points, except the bit about the advantage, and reds given for every tackle from behind. That doesn't happen on PC.

Pretty much agree with every single bit said. I'm currently playing my ML on Top Player, and I'm finding it incredibly difficult with the default players bar one or two. It isn't the fact the game itself is difficult, but the fact every computer opponent is on steroids, as well as their CB's having the ability to dribble like Diego Maradona. Not to mention the fact they get every decision, with me getting carded everytime, as well as the computer choosing my passess to go astray at crucial areas in attack. It's such a frustrating game to play in single player, words can't describe it, and until they fix the Online out properly, it's not really worth having to be honest.

The ML has always been that frustrating though. The COM wins almost every challenge, regardless of how bad the other team is.

@ din3sh ...say what ?

people try to hold X button as long as you can and the tackle will be ... well just try ... when the opponent is near by !!! so when you want to take the ball just press once and hold it :)

If anybody said that FIFA is rubbish please try FIFA08. PES2008 and FIFA08 have a same gameplay. They copied each other. What a hack of this but i love the PES2008 graphic. Very Outstanding!

After having played pes2008 for ps2 and pc, I'm quite surprised how many differences we can find. I didn't like the ps2 version, as many of it's mistakes are kinda the same as pes6. I still don't understand why, when playing against COM, COM players are almost always faster than ours, and almost always win the ball in a duel... even in an intermediate level. At least they improved, in my point of view, the referee's actitude against COM. In PES6, rarely did COM receive a single yellow card for doing a tackle from behind, now this happens more often. Even so, it is, for me a relief that PES2006 in PC is completely different from the one I play in PS2, kinda slower and technical, but far more realistic. I hope that the PS3 version has the same playability as the PC version. It is far more enjoyable, in my POV

Strangely enough I like the gameplay, the speed of the game doesn't bother me and Fifa on Next Gen is very slow so I give it a thumbs up.

that's because a player is slower running with the ball than without it.

i like the game, it's just the same as pes6...

pes will never be worse than fifa, that's for sure.

(First Post)

After 3 weeks of playing it on PS2 Im fairly happy with the game. The Master League had no effort put in apart from the new popularity thing which I dont really understand.
World Tour is great. So is the community for whenever friends come over. Gameplay pretty much the same with a few minor tweaks.

If this poll proves one thing....

It proves that 48.5% of the general populace are either 12 years or younger......or stupid fucking arseholes.

PES2008 = Fake Football Game.

How the hell can anyone possibly say it is good?

This is the problem with the PES community. People are content with the sub-par game Konami is putting out. Even if you don't like FIFA series, you can admire that they are actually getting better with each release. If you want a greater game next year, you're going to have to convince them to get off their arses and produce.

Very good although the slower gameplay takes time to get used to. Improvements have been made and its a HIT! :D

I think people should realize that they have to get what they paid for. Not just an update of an update of an update of pes2.
