The shooting is way to easy IMO...

Most of my shots are on target, most of them are low shots and 1on1 the success percentage with R2 is sky-high!!!

Just played a couple of games of the demo there and I have to say I'm really liking it. It feels like a completely different game to the Fifa demo which I also really liked. I think I'm gonna have to buy both this year. At the moment, however, Fifa is just about edging it. But then again, Im still getting used to the controls for PES, haven't played it in over a year now.

meh, providing the awful response times, buggy animations and the occasionally obsurd AI is fixed for release i may buy a few weeks after on sale or second hand. A few games later it has grown on me a little but it certainly hasnt done enough to convince me not to buy FIFA on its release day for the first time ever. FIFA is better in all respects except shooting (which PES has got a lil wrong compared to prior installments but still feels more player controlled than FIFA) and graphics from up close. FIFA wins graphically at a distance, it just looks more like a televised football game with its lighting, whereas PES has many solid colours at a distance making it abit cartoony. the faces are terrific close up as everything else is.

another thing that crept into PES09 and annoyed the hell out of me was the inability to hit the ball 1st time when it rolled or was lofted out of the area froma cross or corner. it could fall to someone like Xabi Alonso, i press shoot for a 1st time volley hoping for a screamer, instead he chests it with an awful touch and either loses possession or gets charged down. I think Konami have left too many past flaws in the last few released. the same flaws seem to appear year after year, thats what makes people think they havent done anything in the last year!

The through balls really frustrate me. They never go where i want them to,really no use of using them in the demo as I always end up losing possession of the ball (although lob through balls seem ok). I think i saw Adam from WENB saying it was fixed in his build,I really hope so,through balls in PES were always great.

I don't completely agree

^ Yea I get what ya mean mate... But it seems like the players all have the same stance when kicking the ball which I think is poor. End of the day, Torres has got a completely different type of shot animation compared to Gerrard in real life. I don't expect them to get it perfect in that respect, but they could at least have a few different types of shot. Bit of variety would not go a miss.

I respect your evaluation, but do not completely agree. Sometimes the little things escape us during normal play, but are captured during the replay.

Case in point. I was playing the PES 2010 demo as Barca. I played a nice through ball to Messi, who gained control just outside the box (on the left side). Since the keepers seem to be more active this year, I took 2 touches and shot. The shooting animation looked very realistic, so realistic in fact, that it actually caught my attention.

As I viewed the replay, I noticed that Messi had opened his hips to the goal, leaned away, and placed a neat little curling shot in the far post side netting. Absolutely fantastic.

I think the animations are present, but we just get to wrapped up in the gameplay and miss some of the little things that we would normally notice if we were watching a real game.

anyway, thanks for listening. GO MANCHESTER UNITED!!!

The animations are nothing short from brilliant!!!

I was playing with Barça and played a lob through ball to Ibra, who made this unbelievably realistic move to trap the ball...

He turned his right foot in an angled position to the inside and touched the ball forward with the back outside of his right foot!!!

I watched that replay over and over again, just sheer brilliance!!!

agreed. my main problem with the through balls is if you play one to a teammate who is close to you or behind you. in the 1st instance the they just tap the ball in front of them usually conceding possession, and if you try to play one to a man whose behind you they roll it at about 1 mph. still there's glimmers of hope it, but for the 1st time since pes2 they wont be getting my money on release day if they do eventually get it that is.

I think i will wait for friends to get it and views and opinions of the final game to pop up on here, although the community on here does seem very split at the minute, non the less if the final game is truly good all the regulars on here will say so, prompting me to buy it.

Guys i think everyone should try a suggested method of fixing the response issue to see how good the game is.

Im major fan of everything in the game but the small problem i thought were reaction speed started to become a bigger problem for me. I decided to download the game on my pc and try it out on there to see if the problem could actually be fixed.

OMG it was amazing an i urge everyone to try this because I might sound slightly crazy and i want to know if anyone gets the same outcome. it was fast everything happened as soon as pressed the buttons i couldnt actually believe it. I am quietly confident that this is what the final version on consoles is going to feel like because ill be honest, being an arsenal fan I have come to put alot of faith in the person responsible for handling matters at the top and in this case Seabass= Arsene Wenger.

If what i just played on my pc is anything like what the game is like on my ps3 when its released ill be ecstatic. the game now really urges you to think and slow down when making decisions of the next action you wish to take on the pitch with all the realistic animations added. unlike pes09 which you could do what you want, when you want, with whomever you so wished. as much as i enjoyed Playing pes 09 playing the 2010 demo with a percieved better level of responsiveness showed me that in 09 you had too many instances where R1 acted as a get out of jail card and you could run from any opponent with the faster players without encountering miscontrol and loss of possesion, and use simple "fakes" to fool defenders.

From what i experienced on my Laptop on the new demo only the better dribblers e.g messi were comfortable in possesion of the ball at speed and this seemed more down to their dribbling attributes than their speed and acceleration attributes as the same could not be said for clichy.

It is vital with players who cannot dribble that you actually calculate how much space you actually have because they knock the ball ahead of themselves in a very uncontrolled fashion as soon as you press R1 when compared to the messi's an ibra's who can to a degree remain in good control.

also the shots, with what i believed were quickened responses, were excellent as it reminded me of real life situations, on the ps3 i could not get a shot off as the slooow responses+animations were giving too much time to the defenders to get back with whoever i was using to play with. when my pc took this response problem away i was finding that the struggle really only exists with the animations and player abilities. it now forces you to find not only the best area of the goal to shoot at but the technique which issues is best suited for the time you actually have before a defender recovers. I found that with david villa and zlatan they would always get a shot off because the techniques they chose were best suited to the time they had always (probably due to their shot tech attribute) whereas n'gog in the box in similar situations was a mess and always allowed the defender a way back.

Overall i think everyone should try one of the suggested methods of fixing the response issues meerly to see how good the game actually without this response issue and give the game a good test drive. and place trust in konami that this quality will be apparent in the game at full release regardless of what HD setting or format.

Im not one for controversy but if this is what final release is like with all the new features it could just about pip fifa IMO now and thats me being impartial and honest.

Well i can't say i was over impressed when i first tried the demo but i always had "dont worry its only the 70% build" in my mind, so with this mentality (and if it is the 70% build) this has the makings of something that could be a brilliant football game, despite the slow response in game (which im hoping is demo only), the passing and shooting ball physics are superb and if online is sorted this year it will be a very solid enjoyable title. I personally cant wait :)

The thing in the demo is that now you need to constantly think about your attack plan unlike in the previous 2 years.

I know it's just a demo, but the animations are pretty damn good.

It's probably the most realistic version so far.

Game-play seems fine to me, even though it's not the finished product.

Off-the-ball player 'awareness' also seems to have been improved.

I would like to take this moment to remind people that just because PES09 is bad, doesn't necessarily mean that FIFA is good. They're both shite.

We all got robbed of an entire year of proper football.

Just a couple of little touches i enjoyed witnessing...

After doing the long stepovers, and then shimmying to one side, it now sets you up nicely for a shot on goal. Whereas in the other games it would be robotic and...not natural.

Also, I'm sure you have all realised now, you can use the replay function wherever. Just about to kick of for the second half...you can pause it, and see the last bit of action from the first half.

Pretty cool.

Unfortunately i think the gap between Pro Evo and Fifa has now grown to the stage where we're looking at then end of Pro Evo in the next couple of years. I'm not being a WUM here either, i'm deadly serious. I was eagerly anticipating the demo since the 360 degree dribbling was announced, only to discover that it's basically non-existant. The game is so angular and robotic it's untrue. Fine, the players look great close up, but who gives a fuck about that when the gameplay and the physical interaction of the players (jostling for position, shoulder to shoulder battles, goal mouth scrambles) are nearly non-existant. Konami have proven now that they've truely run out of steam. Sad day.

As long as REAL FOOTBALL HARDCORE lovers stay alive, PES will survive. Fifa is a kid-game with artistic touch.. Its not even real football.. pass pass / through ball shoot... this is not real football.. Football is thinking , setting up the game, tactical approach and everything else.. So no need to worry bro.. PES will survive... Wish to make an online match with you at PES2020 on PS4 10 years later...

I'm not sure how you can call it a kid-game. It certainly used to be that way, I used to say the same. I know this thread isn't supposed to be about FIFA vs PES, but both have gone in the opposite direction I would say.

ive spent alot of time on fifa demo to give it a chance like i do every year and dont understand people who actually thinks its good

but gr8 commentary though

and of course if you personally dont like something espicially when fifa and pes are concerned you get labelled a fan boy ..but i make my own judgement every year and fifa 09 ,10 are hollow games with fabulous commentary;)
