PES 2012 Negativity thread

I have played now 50+ matches online and its a good game but i miss the pesfeeling. Its ping pong all around the field and easy scoring goals. i miss the control of defending and on the ball. The balans between attack and defence is far too much in advantage for attack...

Dont expect a Pes2011 game with fixed elements. Pes2012 is completely different. Much more a lottery in online games.

For example you will face games where you play much better and lose with 3-0. Also the other way around..

I agree. There really is no control/freedom whatsoever in this game. It's all dependent on Konami and what they want to happen. If the game has decided you will lose, there is nothing you can do.

Even the cursor you are on reacts however it sees fit. Won't let you move, run or kick, even when free.

It's quite laughable the things I have seen in this game.

There has been no improvement in the gameplay, only a bunch of animations. They are getting better trying to cover them up, but they are still there. That's why ping-pong through balls work, because everything is still on a predetermined path, and nothing anyone does will change that.

Amateur was correct when he said they are just trying to confuse gamers with unnecessary button combinations when in essence it's only a ploy to make you think you are doing something. It doesn't matter whether you hold L2, R2, X or just the joystick. The game decides every tackle....shame

The reason people are moving to FIFA (not me...I'm on my way to convince 2K Sports to do a game) despite the worse gameplay is freedom. Simple, you are in control of your player in that game. In PES, both players are glorified spectators for 90% of the match.

There has been much about this "improved a.i." I don't buy it. It's just the game allowing one team to make runs while the other stands still, doesn't press and basically walks around uninterested.

There will be entire games where I will continually win the ball only for the game to somehow switch my player to somebody else while the ball winner loses interest. Let's not forget the 40 yard "self meg" where my defender suddenly steps over the ball after waiting for it for 3 seconds. There's many more, and we all know them because they have been here since PES 2008.

Ah... The old blame the AI for cheating story. I for one think the real problem is that you still haven't got a grip on the game. If you were winning the vast majority of your games like I am, without cheating I should add, then I think you'd be singing a different tune. Give it time, have patience, and don't blame the game for your own lack of skill.

Haha, check my record. I'm a beast at this game. I'm also not naive enough to think that the game hasn't done the same thing to my opponents plenty of times.

Next time, really think about what I'm saying before you post an ignorant response.

Funny, I'm winning most of my games yet somehow I am not blind. Or does the fact that you win negate the fact that the game has the same flaws?

The fact that I'm saying this WHILE WINNING 65% of my matches should tell you something.

Now that your response has been shot full of holes, any other suggestions?

I've really been enjoying BAL but had to quit playing because it was just getting to tedious like all pes's do with retarded transfers and shocking management.Signed for Man Utd and first match nearly every player is out of position.I was playing Fulham who had Duff at right back.I just thought fuck this shit adn deleted my save.
Automated Crosses and passing the ball about using O/B button is really awful .Shooting is also a bit shit for numerous reasons .Very bad animation and pathetic ball physics.Pes 2011 might have had the floaty shot problem but last years game shooting was miles better than this years.Same goes for the other two problems i mentioned.For some reason it's not as satisfying scoring this year most of the time, because it's like someones holding my hand .I've never known pes crossing to be on the rails so muc.
What also pisses me off is the laziness with this game.Theres just so much shit what has been recycled over from previous pes's.Like BAL, sure the A.I is improved, but ffs at least put some effort into it instead of the same bullshit feedback and tactical stuff from years ago.They could of at least tried to improve the awful rating system.If i score a hat-trick and 4 assists i want at least a fucking 9.5.They recycle shit over from older pes's but they always seem to ditch positive things from previous games then create a problem what wasn't there .
Which cunt at konami headquarters thought it would be a good idea to move around the stats and make it so fucking awkard to quickly look at players stats.The layout now you feel so claustrophobic looking through stats.I FUCKING despise this new stat layout.
Well this pes maybe has the shittest crossing and goalkeepers of any pes game but i think we can all agree that it certainly has the worst soundtrack.I mean wtf or should i say who the fuck put this god awful shit together.I started a master league and i was greeted with the most repetitive sound.It was something that you'd play to someone constantly, what would eventually turn them insane and that death metal shouting song makes me want to punch myself in the face every time i hear it.

You yourself said you have no control over what happens, it's all "up to konami" whether you win or lose. Come on. So let me rephase what I said since you left out signifciant info in your original post:

My suggestion remains the same, give yourself more time to adjust, to learn the new patterns and the new dos and don'ts. I'm finding this years game has been great for me because I've been able to adjust. Those who I beat I can usually tell are still trying to play the game like it is, as you said yourself, just another "PES 20XX" (to be played the same way as 2008-2011).

That's my personal perspective on your post anyway, you don't have to like it or even listen to it. But me saying what I have may, hopefully, get you to rethink your opinion. In the long run you may thank me

Well I guess I can appreciate your honesty. If I was unclear, let me clarify: I win a lot. Much more than I lose. I am very knowledgeable about football. I do not always win. I can lose and accept it; I have many times. What I can not accept is passing/crossing still being on rails, unauthorized cursor changing (especially right when I have won the ball), players stopping dead, when I'm holding the sprint button, defenders stepping over a ball that came on the floor from 40 yards etc. There's plenty more as well.

I can see it when it is working for me, and I can see it when it is working against me. I actually like the game better than its predecessors, but you'd be wrong to think the flaws that plagued old versions have disappeared. They are very much still there.

Maybe when you have played it as much as I have you will see....and possibly thank me..

mm scripting online for 2012 doesnt seem as much of an issue as it was in 2011. I do feel like most of the time when I score that I did something right and made a mistake when I concede. There are the odd deflection goal where the keeper doesn't move while watching it roll in beside him, which drives me nuts when I'm on the receiving end of it, but it doesn't happen enough to be problematic i guess.

A major difference from 2011 is that I can really feel that when the difference in skill between me and the other player that I can control the game. I've had a couple of games where I had more than 25 shots and 75% possession.

Nice to see some positivity. I guess it's my fault for hanging around this "negativity" thread, when I generally look at the glass as half full.

Still I do have negative things to say. I agree about some of the issues with passes being on rails, and cursor problems. I just have never lost a game or won one because of it as far as I can recall. I used to get extremely pissed off with these sorts of things in PES 2011, but this year it's a much less frustrating experience. In other words, there seems (to me) to be much less of what people call scripting.

Just to explain myself, I have been around these boards and others for a long long time, since 98 really, and I for one have never believed in "AI cheating." All too often it seems to me that it's a case of people not knowing how to play the game properly, not understanding tactics, or simply complaining. I've proven it over and over (to myself anyway) so if I come off as harsh here, it's due to a deep seeded frustration with people who blame the game due to their own lack of ability and/or understanding.

One major improvement IMO for 2012 is that the attack/defense levels and strategies seem to have less of an effect on success/failure compared to PES 2011 and PES 2010. IMO a lot of people misinterpreted the massive effect that these levels (and strategies to a degree) have on the outcome of matches as scripting/cheating. Now there is less impact when the levels are adjusted, which I'm very glad to see because in the demo they seemed even more sensitive.

IMO one thing Konami are good at is fixing their mistakes. For example slide tackling was too effective in 2010, now maybe it's not effective enough? Anyway, it's all about balance, and based on what I saw happen last year and the year before, there should be a major gameplay patch coming soon which will get rid of the easy headers (biggest "on rails" problem IMO) and maybe help out with some other aspects as well - maybe even toning down the speed merchants' ability to round the keeper.

Online if you gear your team towards a teamwork style play, your tactics seems to pay off even more for a team full of unknowns. This adds a little bit of variety to the gameplay online. But ofcourse 90% of the ppl still play with a 4-2-1-3 and run around like chickens.

Let me ask you what teams have you been playing with?

I mean from demo2 on xbox there is a huge gamespeed difference when you play Inter-BAyern and the two SA teams. When you dont play with the best teams the gamespeed is spot on.

I am on PS3. Playing with a whole lot of different teams to try and find the reason. Arsenal, Sunderland, Dortmund, Nigeria, Greece u name it but it is all the same.
- Speed is unbelievably fast even in -2. I dont seem to be at control over the build up anymore.
- Player models suck...they look so jittery while dashing toward. Turns are very unrealistic and collisions are a laugh.
- Graphics are also worse than 11 imo. Frame rate is lower and color palletes are very washed out.
But the most important aspect of a footy game was to be able to play at a life like speed. PES 11 with all its flaws at least provided this on -2. PES 12 is a disaster in -2.
I truely wish they release a patch to slow things down.

Pes 2010 graphics were king.
Having played this game thoroughly i'm starting to dislike it.
My pre order has just been cancelled!!
Really started to dominate on superstar level, the key is just to rarely use the pressure button .I can't put my finger on it but the game just isn't as satisfying, sure it feels nice when using zero pass assist but the shots are awful.Seems like a very hollow and deeply flawed game.Less flawed than last years but when you zoned into pes 2011 is was much more rewarding.Defenders seemed like retards at times, but at least you felt you were in control of a physical presence and could command your backline better if you got good at the game.Just playing a champions league with Villareal and it's just ridiculous when you have players like Rossi on the ball .The game just feels cheap, the ease you can run past players with little effort and can turn on a dime piece , then get your dumbed down assisted shot off, very boring.

The longer i play this game the more i miss pes 11... or PES itself.. Its not Konami produced a bad game its just not Pes. Complete different and one big shoot out online.. I also miss the good feeling after fighting for a goal since its soo easy to score goals..

I really had hoped they had keeped the game more than pes2011 and not completely change the good defending system for example.
its typical Konami if we look at the Offside situations now. Last year it was almost ALWAYS offside, now it is almost NEVER offside.. They cant do it just in the middle..
