If you believe EA and their friends in the media. I say that as a long term FIFA player. I just think there are fundamental absences in FIFA that are always in PES such accurate momentum/inertia of players and realistic defensive positioning.
Although I always throw the "Fifa is #1" bit around a lot....it does not mean that Fifa is without problems. It simply means that they have found a way to grab the attention of the majority of footie fans....
and trust me it aint no damn advertising shit.
Inertia is not present at all in PES ...be clear of that. NO momentum either ....run fast shoot hard ..thats it. hardly any back passes needed.
PES 2013 has some improvements but it seems pretty arcadish. Passes are way too easy .....shooting is even easier
:erm:bit off topic, but i had to share it...

This could have been legit and true until:
Trust me on this one. Marketing and strategies are the reason for over 75% of the selling. The rest is split into other things, but marketing is where the selling mostly happens.
That was true until pes 13 introduced the R2 slow dribble that actually works unlike the gimmicky feature in pes 12. However, I agree that the transition between instant stop and acceleration to full speed is poorly done in Pes. No arguments can b said against that. Mostly the animation are to blame for this.
However, you cannot say that back passes aren't needed without looking at the competitor. The thing is that Pes needs to actually improve pressure and it needs a better pressure system where teams like Juve (who play with pressuring forwards) can actually pressure easier on the front and can have more success.
My brother played Fifa 12 right after I was playing Pes 13 and to be extremely honest, Fifa 12 is way faster than Pes 13 and you can pull off instant passes and 1-2's with anyone and any team with the greatest of ease. So both games have passing problems.
Shooting in pes 13 is not far from real life. However, it needs 1 thing. Pressure doesn't effect shooting that much. It needs more effect and sometimes, the ball is hit too hard. What I mean is that there are situations where it wouldn't be possible to shoot like that in real life with that amount of power. So yeah, it needs toning down but ONLY IN CERTAIN MOMENTS, because in other situations, shooing is actually well done. OH AND THE POWER BAR NEEDS TO RISE UP SLOWER.
New pes 2013 trailer is available here : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sXG8L3TzvF4 , they have also revealed that there is going to be 35 club teams and 6 national teams in demo 2 and I think that they have already improved commentary for the new game!
Konami also confirmed that release date for pes2013 is going to be in September!

I've found a system that has pretty much eliminated AI wonder through balls. I've changed all my sliders to 5, bar pressure which I set to 7 and set my Change Atk/Def levels to defensive.
I'm using 5-3-2 with a Sweeper. Its actually the old Sao Paulo formation from PES6, the full backs are pushed to the half way line with a compact 3 man midfield and two forwards pushed back.
I'm obviously susceptible to through balls down the wings but hard to breakdown through the middle. As soon as I lose the ball my team gets behind the ball. I'm actually finding it easier to create chances as well playing this way.
The one thing I've noticed playing with two centre backs and a sweeper is that I can still play offside without my fullbacks playing the forwards onside. In a 4-4-2 I noticed the real issue with through balls, wasn't just me rushing to squeeze play, it was that my full backs that seemed to have no positional sense. With my fullbacks now more or less wing backs and pushed so far forward my centrebacks mark the space more intelligently and its easier to play offside.
I appreciate it won't be to everyone's taste, but playing defensive works. Although I'd call it more of a tiki taka defensive strategy as I'm playing as Internacional of Porto Allegre.

Only being able to play 5 minute matches is off putting though, or at least it wouldn't be if you could save your tactics/strategies so you didn't need to setup them up each time you go into a friendly.
