Does anyone know whats going on with 160GB PS3's?
Barely anyone is selling them and according to this it might even get discontinued:

The 160 GB PS3s are limited edition so once they sell out, thats it theres no more available to buy.
If I was buying a PS3 now I'd rather they added more USB slots or PS2 compatibility, not more GBs. HDDs are so cheap these days.
You won't see PS2 compatability on any PS3 model that comes out from here on in.
Sony would never bring it back as it would increase manufacturing costs meaning that the price of the PS3 would have to increase in order to compensate for the increased manufacturing costs.
This is the only reason why they removed this feature from the 40 GB PS3 and have done so with the 80 GB and the 160 GB PS3s.
It was also one of the reasons as to why the 60 GB PS3 was priced over £400.
I dont....my PS3 is fine and healthy, and has been since the day I purchased it
this is unusual for me though, because ive heard stories of 360's breaking like ALL the time, but this is actually the first time ive heard of that a PS3 has died :erm:
unlucky barndoor? me thinks yes
PS3s have problems with disc read errors - this is a lens problem.
Search Ebay for "faulty playstation 3" and you'll see exactly what I mean.
It is the exact same problem that many PS2s had as well. Except this time, they are breaking down much quicker than before.
Lens problems are relatively easy to fix. They can quite easily be repaired via a DIY lens replacement kit (which can be bought online) along with some basic knowledge of upgrading computers.
The Xbox 360 however has had much worse problems. The power supply on the mainboard has a tendency to fry on the Xbox 360 thus causing it to show the blinking red light (red light of death). This is much harder to fix. It requires soldering which only a professional electrician can do.
