Is there anyone here, apart from me, who a) likes the Elder Scrolls games and, b) is looking forward to the release of Oblivion on November 25 (for PC in the UK, Nov. 21 in the US and a week later on the XBox)?

It looks gorgeous and sounds amazing. There are great touches such as over 1,000 NPCs who all live their lives every day, regardless of whether you are in the area or not. One example of this is that a poor NPC who hasn't been able to find money for food may go out into the forest to kill an animal, come across you and attack you for money. You can pick up quests just by listening to NPCs talking about the immediate area they live in.

And, as always with these games, you don't have to follow the storyline at all if you don't want to. You can just go about your business randomly.

Information can be found at www.elderscrolls.com for anyone who is interested.

I'm an RPG maniac and this game seems to be very promising. Never really got into the Elder Scrolls series but i will definitely buy this because im a sucker for realism and this is as close to that as they come. Non-linear storyline is always a plus. Reminds me of Baldur's Gate which is one of the very few games that allowed you to more or less deviate from the main plot. Obviously these games can never beat something like Ultima Online because you are dealing with other people. How i miss my old UO clan. Waging war on the Drow and the Orcs and going treasure hunting. UO was an awesome RPG experience.

EDIT: They got Captain Pickard and Boromir to do some of the voices!!! :D

Have you tried some of the Persistant Worlds in Neverwinter Nights?

Neverwinter Nights! How could i forget that....That is a damn classic game. NWN is such a treat for Forgotten Realms and Dragon Lance novels readers. They have the best Dragons in any RPG ever in this game.
I'm not sure what this Persistant Worlds are but if its some sort of online mod or world for NWN then no. The thing with NWN is that i got a pirated copy (i know im not supposed to say that ..) so i was never able to play online. But i played both Shadows of Undrentide and Hordes of the Underdark. This is definitely one of the best comp games ever created.
But as it happens with me and this games i ended up loosing interest because there is much reading and walking to do which is boring in the end because you are doing it on your own and it becomes too repetitive after a while, the only excitement coming from killing larger monsters and finding better armour and weapons. After you have played online RPGs its difficult to settle for single player. Its time consuming and id rather play PES and CS at the network these days. I hear there is a new mod being released, Pirates of the Sword Coast, which i will certainly be acquireing just to check it out and see whats new.

Then I advise you buy real versions of all three as you can pick them up for about £20 in total. Go online, it opens a new door for the game.

Damn it looks solid. Got Icewind Dale somewhere around here, although not as good as NWN or Baldur's Gate, still entertaining.

Got Morrowind 3 on Xbox, always found it a bit of an odd game. Then I really started to get the grasp of it, I was even addicted at one point.

I hope my computer can cope with the beauty

I was addicted to morrowind for about 2-3 years on and off, well over 1000 hours, and had still not nearly explored all the map. This game was Amazing!!!!!

Now if oblivion just matches morrowind but also adds great graphics it would be Absolutly stunning.BUT i know that the radient AI system andother lil touches are gonna make this(i think as good if not better than pes)

The size of morrowind man, could u imagine walkin from south coast to north coast with out a silt rider????????Oblivion is gonna be 1.5x bigger than that!!!!!!!!!!!!

Basicallyi cant w8,and i also have it pre-ordered!!!!!!!!!

I didn't spend too long with Morrowind despite its open-ended gameplay and gorgeous graphics. Why? The interface. I couldn't take to it. I didn't appreciate the inventory management. Something just bugged me with it for some reason. I'm hoping that, having played World of WarCraft for so long (and in third person, something I used to be against) that I will now come to Oblivion (which has a redesigned control system) and think "wow, this feels so brilliant". In fact, I'll have to. I'm DEFINITELY going to play this game, and play it to a lot.

I'm going to take an assassin-type character who can heal him/herself and joins the Dark Brotherhood and Thieves Guild (and maybe fights in the arena too).

Has anyone joined the Dark Brotherhood before? If you try and leave they keep sending assassins out to kill you until they succeed.

Aye, found that out the hard way  Now I cant think of the Brotherhood without it involving Danny Crespo and Mills Malone which is a shame. Id like to send assasins after them really
