I've got it on PC.

PC Gamer gave it 93% (saying one little annoying thing with repetitive dialog between NPCs stopped it getting 96%), the American version gave it 95%, and some website I read earlier gave it 97%.

Having played it for about three hours myself, I must say it is brilliant.

My dark elf assassin has been busy fighting in the Arena but has made mental notes about the location of the Thieves Guild leader. The graphics are superb, it runs brilliantly on my PC and it is much better than I thought it would be.

Barry, my dad has a 5700FX (128MB) and I had to buy him a 6800GS (256MB) yesterday on next-day delivery because he had absolutely no chance of playing it. He tried, turned settings down, and still found it absolutely abysmal. Don't know if it'll be any better for you, but I think not.

I'd also strongly suggest you double your RAM ;)

Everything else will be fine.

EDIT: I know you don't have money yourself...the graphics card is by far more important than getting more RAM. Unfortunately, prices reflect that.

Hmm, its quite a bad card yes. My mate has a non-Geforce card, and all his games look absolutely gorgeous. I can play most games though, be it on low settings.

Almost all of my mate's games look better, but PES 5 seems to be an exception, whenever he puts cameraview on "Wide" it starts to slowdown major.

S'pose I have to give in to my brother and buy an Xbox 360 ;)

I got it on saturday, great game it's all abit complex for me mind all this leveling up and what not. I had to put the difficulty right down because it was unreal, i couldn't even kill a elf  i've only put in 6 hours so far mind.

I find it much easier to play in third person perspective (World of WarCraft moved me away from first person).

The key to combat in Oblivion is to generally take your time. Don't go on all-out attack, feel free to block and move around in order to dodge. Look at what your character's major skills are and base it on those. I picked an assassin and kept on getting involved in melee combat which was causing me difficulties. One day I finally used bows and I'm doing three or four times as much damage with bows as I was per strike with a sword as my strength is only 50 and my agility and speed both over 70.

I reckon i should Bump this up a bit.

I just got this game the other day, had hardly heard of the Elder Scrolls games, or what they were about. But i must say that i'm loving this. I've only had it a few days, but have been playing for quite a few hours. I was flying through until i got infected by a Vampire and am now trying to get a cure. Have done most of the collection that the Witch wants, and now i just need the blood of a lizard man guy and to kill the 'hard vampire'.

Two things. For anyone who has done the Vampire Cure Quest, how can i get the blood of a Lizard man on my 'enchanted dagger' without causing the guards to chase me down and take all my stuff. Half the good stuff i've got in my inventory is stolen out of display cases n such. Most of my Grand Soul Gems needed in that quest i think are stolen, so i don't wont to lose them. Where does anyone know of that i can kill one of those Lizard guys? Do any of them ever come up as bandits if you walk the roads??

Also, does anyone know what potion i need for in future to prevent me catching anything from Vampires. I know (or guess) that if i go to an Alter in a Cathedral in any of the cities, i can fix myself, but that's only before i sleep once after contracting the desease, but is there not a potion that can just wipe it out before i accidentally forget to spiritally heal myself? I'm only level 8 or something, a bit of a newbie, Redguard i think. All about the guns *kisses biceps*

I can't answer any of your questions :( I'm not aware of a potion which wipes it out, but that doesn't mean there isn't one. Yes the altars will heal you, although my eventual attempt is to become a daedra worshipper, if the game allows it and to that end the altars will not heal me once I've "converted".

Glad to hear you're enjoying it although I wish it was more like Morrowind in terms of landscape etc. but to be fair, they had to have the landscape and towns as they are due to the storyline and the fact this area of the world is meant to be more Roman and unlike the Morrowind region.

I did get it to work a while ago, but it was damn near unplayable so I decided to wait till the X360 price drops and then get the game.

hhmm okay, cheers for the responce.

So sweey, you're one of those idiots in the red cloaks that shout "i'm not affraid of death" whilst they try and throw tiny fireballs at you, and i'm smashing you in with my Massive War Hammer??

Does everyone do the same missions or not? Are you currently trying to stop oblivion gates from opening, or are you one of us heros that is trying to close them all and get Martin Septim on the thrown. I'm gonna say it now rather than later. But i don't trust this Martin Spetim guy.. i have a feeling that he is like that Cameron guy (the evil guy). No one spoil it for me, but at every point where i could have either gone with Martin, or gone against him.. i've always felt earged to go.. "A HAAA, this isn't Martin, but the enemy trying to get a hold of something." *ripping off his mask*. I don't know why, it's just the way he can't keep a straight eye on you.. he looks around all the time, like 'ya classic lying to ya face guy'.

Anyone else have these suspicions??

And also, anyone completed the Vampire Cure Quest and know of a good Lizard guy to knife??

No, I'm an assassin. You don't see me, then you die.

lol okay fair enough. I was thinking of that Cult, the Mythic Dawn or something. I had to go in there to get the Amulet of Kings (which they get away with but you find an important book or something). But before i went beserk on all their skinny asses, i had to speak to some guy, there was a choice where i could give them all my possesions and join them, or i could persistantly smash his head with my Warhammer, bust on through his crap door and play skittles with their crews heads. I wondered how different the game would be if i joined them, or whether or not i eventually had the chance to leave their crew and get all my weapons back. But they did Deadric magic, so i presumed you were them.

So what do you actually do as an assassin? Just guild quests, or do you have a story line?
