The Steam Thread

Figured this needed it's own thread.

Anyone who games on a PC needs this, and if you haven't got it, do so now.

At the moment there is an Autumn sale on, which has incredible reductions on some top games like LA Noire, the Total War series and some Fallout games. The sale prices are staggering, and i've just purchased Fallout New Vegas for £3.74. I also downloaded Team Fortress 2 (which has recently been made FREE) and am having a blast on it. It's a fantastic multiplayer shooter, with some of the biggest and strongest modding and social communites in gaming today.

You should all get on this and check out the sale. Steam is also house to a lot of indy games that never see it into the high street shops like Game etc., so it also helps the industry a lot in getting new publishers out there.

Anyway, here is the link to get Steam, or at least, to check it out.

You can thank me later.

Thousands of years later, when aliens invade the internet, they'll look at that and kill the remaining human prisoners they have taken, and then we'll be extinct, because of how stupid it was.

Well done Bammers, you killed the human race.

Stop ruining Dales thread guys. It's the first decent one he's made since his last bender.

Now 777 vs. Jonno will come in here to let off some steam...

Oh god

Anyway, I saw you bought the Total War Mega Pack, Phats. It does come with a (steaming) shit ton of stuff doesn't it?!

The only reason why I stopped playing Total War was because my Laptop at the time couldn't really handle the battle scenes. Now I have a better laptop with a much improved graphics card, i'm going to reinstall it and see how it copes.

My PC is too shit t play 99% of what is available on steam, but it is made by the guy's that did Half-Life so it must be amazing

A few guys I know are always going on about how many games they bought during sales and I die a little inside.

Funnily enough, this reminds me, for the sheer hell of it, I bought Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee and also Exodus from Steam several months ago now for a total of about £2. I've not even played them yet, but I guess they're on my account so they won't disappear.

I "never" game on the PC, but I am aware of how amazing some of the Steam deals are. Quite remarkable really. The likes of the Rockstar packs which include all GTA games and content for about £40.

Crazy.

It is happening again

I bought the ps1 classic versions from the PSN store a while back. Fantastic games.

I took advantage of the great Total War pack deal as it was too good to ignore. I doubt I'll play it for a while but I definitely will try it out some day. Will this Steam sale be happening again today with different games?

I enjoyed the Rise of the Samurai download. I think the prices are pretty reasonable regarding downloads and so forth. CA will never release another expansion pack on disc like they did in the past so Steam is a suitable way to release it I suppose.

Yeah Mike, the deals start again with different games in *checks Steam* 35 minutes and 40 seconds.

EDIT:

New deals are up! Patrician IV is in, sweet. I was going to buy this for full price the other day  Glad that I waited now!

What's it like compared to 2012? Not sure I wanna buy it as I don't think I've got enough time to play it. Still got numerous games to complete too :/

In-game layout's a bit different. You can also appoint a Director of Football and give your members of staff certain responsibilities to fulfil, for example you can ask you D.O.F to make offers for young prospects and/or first team players, so then you'd only have to click whether to confirm or cancel the deal.

The main addition which wasn't in 2012 is the Classic Mode. This is designed for people who can't devote hours and hours to their life, and it provides a more streamlined approach to playing Football Manager. In that mode, there's no team-talks, no training to take care of, and there's also an Instant Result button. So yeah, in Classic Mode, it's a lot easier to get through the seasons. Personally, I like to play the 'Full' version and take care of everything.

I'm tempted to get FM13, what is Steam like if your laptop messes up and you have to re install everything. Do you get to re download it for free?

Once you've bought it, it's on your Steam account and is in your games library or whatever they call it.

You can access your Steam account from any computer.

Sweet, thanks.

I think the price is putting me off a little bit at the moment. Thought it would be £19.99 rather than £29.99
