Have the throw ins been changed back to the original or just the Pes3 version? I like Pes3 throwins, but Pes4 throw ins make me go slightly mad.

Do the keepers still watch slow balls hitting the post? Many argued that real time keepers often just stand and watch the ball go into the net but it really looks dumb on Pes4. The only game who did this perfectly IMO (where the keepers just stand and can't do anything about the ball flying in) was Pes2, oddly enough. I know ashmufc already has a video of silly keeper behavior, I just want to know if it's still so common.

Refs giving cards after the ball goes out of play is brill!!!

v.good, much for difficult, easier to score 1 on 1 but u rarly get an opening to shoot. players much more harder to control. Cpu passes better and overall a good improvement upon PES4.

shooting is much more fun, you can get low hard shots. AI still dumb, though improved, i guess you can only make them so good before you move from realistic to impossible. dribbling a little different, though not much, i think the side step isnt as quick anymore, but still effective to dribble. Free kicks remind me back of WE7I, which I think was easier. I had a hard time with free kicks in WE8, except with Beckham, but now I scored on my first free kick and hit the post with my other, so it felt good, and the computer scored one on me also with a free kick, which never or rarely happened in WE8. Overall its better, but not that much, i wouldnt say go buy this one if you own WE8, unless you are in Japan for the online, which is really what I want. Anyone know how well its working, like lag and servers?

Online also works outside Japan, however you need an unmodded Japanese NTSC console and the original game.

In this game is it no longer possible for example: if u are playing your mate would it be no longer possible for them to just run around with the ball on the edge of the area & then run towards the corner line & do a dragback & pass the ball into the centre of the penalty box to one of their players somehow completely unmarked for a tap in? my mate scores identical goals like this against me the whole time & its such an ugly style of play & very annoying & I hope konami have removed it for this game or for at least PES5! He has used this tactic since PES2! I think PES gamers call this type of player a wriggly worm!

this game seems brilliant....Dribbling is harder,but more realistic as the players first touhc isnt always good....shooting from outside the box is more realistic as you can actualyl have a good 30m shot thats on target one problem though, it still has the lag at corners when you cross the ball into the box overall though far better game-pity the Japanese....do you thjink they'll bring out a WE8:LE internationaL???

I doubt they'll bring out anything else until WE9 and PES5.
There is a bit of slowdown for some people and none for others. Try turning off the stadium effects and reduce the crowd. Might help.

I am preferring the old-style pes3 throw-ins. Hope they don't bring back the PES4 throws. They suck!

I have a PS2 NTSC made in Japan. Does this mean that I can play the game. Sorry, if this a stupid question but I do not know anthing about technology. I just play.

baru - yes you should be able to play the original game just fine.
Depending on where you are and what kind of TV you use, your game may appear black and white on your TV but this can easily be fixed by using a good quality PS2 scart cable.

Liking the new animations too. I went in for a slide tackle and just touched the dribbler, he jumped over the slide and carried on.
Keeper went to clear it, Ronaldo closed him down and as keeper kicked it, Ron jumped and turned his back on the ball. This is a new animation right? Looked coolio anyways

First impression: The 'first-touch' thing, using R1 or R2 when receiving the ball (to trap & move the ball in the direction you push the d-pad or left analogue-stick) is a bit like aerial control in previous games, but works on the ground now.

Takes some getting used to, I kept pushing the ball the wrong way at first, but once in synch it's very handy for sneaking around the first defender...so long as their isn't a second one waiting behind him.

The commentary only. The game text is Japanese unless you patch the game.
PLayer names can be in different languages but are English by default and can be changed to english in edit mode.
Or just download Scorpio's option file which has all player names in english as well as transfers done.

I must be the only one who thinks the throw ins are exactly the same as PES4. In PES3 you moved the recipient in WE8, PES4 and WE8LE you move the thrower

Personally, I think the CPU "cheats" way too much in this version

You're right about the throws. I guess they just work better in WE8:LE. Maybe I was confused since I play 2 vs 2 most of the time these days.

But I believe that the CPU cheats less than in PES4.

Who can do a flip flap? I know about Ronaldinho, Ronaldo, Ibrahimovic and sb from Classic Brazil (I don't mind, because I don't play classic). Does sb know how to give to player abilty to do a flip flap? If it's possible please tell, because I give many more people in the game flip flap, as C. Ronaldo, Robinho, Quaresma and more... Because if sb has got a flip flap it's harder to dribble, because if you want stepovers you have to press only twice, if you press triple you do a flip flap, in pes 4 you can press x times, and you always do the same... I hope you'll answer my questions, greetz ;]
