"THQ has finally revealed that the long awaited “Legends DLC Pack” for WWE ’12 is coming your way from January 31st.

The “Legends DLC Pack” includes the following wrestlers: Macho Man Randy Savage, Mick Foley, Batista and Brodus Clay. Brodus Clay is the only person part of the DLC pack who you can download for free.

Bear in mind, January 31st is the date when it’s released in North America. February 1st is the release date for those living in Europe and own a PS3 copy of WWE ’12…."

Also left as a message by THQ when you go online on WWE '12 is the following;

"The free Superstar is a retro masked Kane from the Attitude Era. Although we would love to include the latest masked Kane, the date of his debut and our model creation timelines made it impossible to include him in this pack."

"Universe Mode:

Brands can now consist entirely of created Superstars. However, match card creation still requires players to use Superstars with at least one of each crowd reaction setting ('boo' and 'cheer') to properly book matches.

The Draft option now functions properly.

Lowered the frequency of injuries in Universe Mode.

Addressed issue where Royal Rumble and Money in the Bank winners were not getting their title shots at Wrestlemania and/or the option to cash in MITB."

If that means you can only have face vs heel matches in Universe, then that is absolutely ridiculous.

Some of the biggest matches of all time have been face vs face. Plus, you can have face vs face or heel vs heel right now, so why change it?

I'm sure it means you need to have at least 1 face or 1 heel on a match card for a show, so you can have 3 face v face matches but would need a face v heel for the 4th.

If that isn't the case then so much for waiting for Universe mode to fix.

If that is the case then fair enough. But if it is what I have worries about then THQ/YUKES need to gtfo now.

They do have a history of correcting one thing, then fucking up something else that was already fine.

It's free for the first 2 weeks.

I heard the patch has made things even worse, notably the server. They really are clueless, incompetent dickheads.

I seriously think they're on the road to losing the license with the mess that's occured since the game's release. You'd have to be mad or a WWE Cena kid fan boy to pre-order next year.

Even when you head into the online Community Creations section, the message to say classic Kane is free for the first two weeks - it's still there. However, when you head into the WWE Shop, Kane isn't free, but 80 points. Obviously this is a mistake, so hopefully it'll be rectified very soon.

I've not tried a match online since I downloaded the new patch, but it seems to be more stable when searching through online Community Creations. The servers used to fail on me probably half the time, when I'd be searching through other people's creations. But I've not really had any problems this morning when doing so thankfully.

Not just that, I've been massively pleasantly surprised by a user on the Xbox 360 named Petchy. I believe he's a "hacker" of sorts, or something along those lines. Anyway, I've now downloaded from him a picture perfect Bret Hart - and I mean that, in the sense that it looks as if THQ made him, as opposed to being a CAW. Bret even has his own picture when in the wrestler selection screen:

I love Bret Hart, so I'm over the moon with this download. I've also downloaded this particular users models of Rob Van Dam, Sabu, Taz, Great Muta - and I'm also just going through some of his other creations. I believe he's only been making these recently, so fingers crossed he continues to pump out more amazing (perhaps hacked) creations along the lines of Bret Hart's quality.

Yeah Petchy is awesome, shame he's on the 360 side. I wouldn't say he's a hacker but I know he did/does import real titantrons for his caws. That's a feature we should be able to do anyway.

The people that do hack just do it to make the game the way it should be, not for evil intent. I'm sure that's the reason we got create an arena because people were hacking previous games with their own arenas.

Not doing a great job here guys! Is it not worth it, or should I just get 2011 on the cheap or something?

If you want to buy WWE '12, you'll buy it, but I suggest reading the many reviews out there, and seeing if they intrigue you/spike your curiosity.

I've not played Smackdown vs. Raw 2011, but I've been having a blast with WWE '12. The gameplay is really great, to the point where I often just like to have exhibition matches in an attempt to recreate works of art in the ring. It's really good fun - and there's no shortage of created wrestlers to download, as well as created rings.

I'd personally recommend it. I tend to sell my games in order to recoup my money, but WWE '12 is one I'm going to be keeping for a long time I think - and probably playing right up until the release of WWE '13.

It's only £25 on Amazon (Xbox 360 & PS3) at the moment, so I'd say it's worth buying for sure.

Is there any way to alter the stats of the WWE roster? I could swear I remember reading that it's possible but I've had no luck in finding out how to do it.

I have played both WWE 12 AND SVR 11 and to put it in simple terms, WWE 12 excels over SVR 11 in every way you can imagine. SVR 11 was the base sort of, and WWE 12 improved upon it and added a new technology to it, highly improved the AI to have some awesome matches and made the overall gameplay really, really, great.

Even the CAWs you make. If you do the right moves in the mov set and build your character with creativity, they look great and really do fit in with the rest. I cannot recommend it enough. Once you get your grasp with it, it's great.

I always play just regular exhibitions at the higher difficulties with my caw's and the matches that you can have are just great. Variation of moves, SUPER endings and unpredictability (to a certain point) make this game far better than SVR 11.

I can't say anything about SVR 11 since I've not played it, but you've pretty much hit the nail on the head I think.

The gameplay is really solid, and that is what is most important - yet THQ haven't just left it there, they've also got extremely good editing options, as well as even a great Road To Wrestlemania mode. WWE '12 is a brilliant game I think, and it's so well rounded in what it offers.

I had an exhibition match last night; Daniel Bryan (me) vs. CM Punk. It was a match full of back and forths. But CM Punk started to gain the upper hand, and soon enough had me in desperation mode; I was down and out, injured. I hit the comeback button and took the fight to Punk, striking him with trademark D Bryan kicks, before a running clothesline. I was really building some momentum, that was until I went for a second running clothesline - CM Punk countered and immediately hit me with the Go To Sleep...game over. I loved it though. It was so reminiscent of reality, in that I had that last ditch effort, that moment, pumped with adrenaline where I actually mounted an offence right up until the last second, in which I then had the rug pulled out from underneath me.

Indeed. I bought Fan Axxess quite a while ago. I just don't know how to edit the Superstar attributes.

Go to Universe mode > Edit Superstars and you'll find all the stuff you can change.

Enough of the positive though. They took 2 months to release a patch and it's actually made things worse. What kind of company does that? The server is shitter than before.

Create a wrestler is still behind what is was over a decade ago. Pathetic choice of skin tones, I've only seen about 3 or 4 human ones but there's plenty of reds, yellows, green of course.

They've made a mess of Savage's moveset. I had to manually change a handful of his moves to match what it was. Plus they removed his hotshot move, which I've heard has been in the game the last few years. This is after they said no moves were removed.

Most people want RTWM removed and I don't blame them. Either bring back the old season mode or scrap it and concentrate all their time on Universe, because that mode actually does have the potential to be great.

Bottom line, because this series will always be a yearly release, it will never reach the standard it should do in this era of gaming. Also doesn't help that the communication between THQ and Yuke's is poor, as proved by the 'patch'. If it was every 2 years, I could see something very good coming from it but the WWE/Vince only cares about money and knows there's so many blind fanboys out there who'll buy anything with a WWE logo on it, no matter what the quality of it is. That's what holding the series back, that's why people still bring up the n64 games.

Is it me, or have they made Savage too big? He's a giant compared to Steamboat.

No, I cannot agree. I agree that skin tones are lacking though, but skin tones alone doesn't justify the overall editor.

If you are creative enough and you can draw with paint tool, then the editor is the best I've seen in a wwe game so far. The amount of good stuff that you can do with the paint tool is incredible. All it takes is a bit of imagination and BTW, the caws finally look like they belong in the roster and blend well with the others.

Are there things to improve? Heck yes. More options in appearance would be on top of the list as well as more believable masks and more attires. But again, the attires can be manipulated greatly with the paint tool. Still, more tights or bottoms (or whatever they call them) and especially more upper body wear would be greatly appreciated.

I'm sorry, it is still behind. You shouldn't have to use paint tool to get a tanned look, which takes up layers. Your height shouldn't affect the weight of the wrestler, don't know why we can't choose our own. We shouldn't have to choose a body template to decide someone's weight class. Body morphs for caws like Yokozuna, Earthquake etc are near impossible to get realistic looking given the limitations with the system.

Yes paint tool is great but it's just a small piece of the visual aspect.
