Heavy Rain [PS3]

Not anymore, Phat. I'm no longer a Londoner :crymore:

(For now).
Where the hell are you now then?

This is an absolute joke. The post has just arrived and no Heavy Rain. The thing that worries me the most is that there was one parcel that was too big so the postman rang the doorbell. I say postman, it was just a black guy in a jumper with loads of post and a Royal Mail trolley; no Royal Mail jacket as with most postmen. I'm also waiting for a DVD from lovefilm, even though 3 were all sent at the same time and 2 of them have already arrived.

(There are no spoilers in my post. And the link neither contains any, it simply provides a source for the official soundtrack delay.)

I got the special edition in-store at HMV, for £44.99. The standard edition was going for £39.40 to £39.99 across the various retailers. I refuse to pay full price for standard edition games, so I opted for the special edition (even at the more expensive price to that available online).

There's a problem with the official soundtrack that was to be free to download via the redeemable code, packaged with the special edition. There was a "technical delay" of one sort or another and it is not currently available. The DLC "Taxidermist" episode and the XMB theme are available, though. Anyone who redeems their code before March 4th will experience the same problem as I have. You get no official soundtrack and no real explanation about how to go about getting it once the "technical delay" is sorted out.

Completed the game for a second time to receive a different ending.

Below spoilers are regards to the two endings I have received so far.

First Ending:
First ending I got Ethan and Madison together. Before the end they had sex then Ethan got pissed off when he found out Madison was a journalist but I made them forgive. Ethan got caught by the police then Norman helps him escape. I only completed 2 of the 5 trials (driving down the wrong side of the road and cutting your finger off). With Norman I avoided the fight scene with Mad Jack by managing to get the triptocaine from my pocket. With Scott I never saved Lauren from drowning but never killed Kramer. When Madison escaped from Scott's house on fire I had her call Ethan. Both of them made their way to Shaun and Madison had a long fight with Scott until Ethan comes up and shoots him. Ethan and Madison end up together, the news praised Ethan for being courageous as well as stating that the police department issuing an apology for the false accusations toward him. Norman left the FBI since the ARI glasses and that triptocaine were fucking him up.

Second Ending:
This time I kept Ethan and Mars as distant as possible. When it came to healing wounds I would do it too fast to hurt him which ends up with Madison leaving the room. With Ethan I failed all the trials and I escaped the police on both chases. When they went to kiss Ethan backed out which resulted in Madison leaving and feeling embarrassed about the situation. With Norman I never used the triptocaine when the oppurtunity arrised which included that extra scene with Mad Jack - which I survived and Mad Jack being killed. With Scott I saved Lauren but got shot several times in Kramer's mansion that caused him to flee. With Madison I called Norman instead of Ethan. Ethan ends up helping Shaun while again Madison is running from Scott. I didn't hear if Ethan actually shot Scott (I think he did though) but I never fired again, Scott dies. Ethan gets his new apartment without Madison. Madison is mentioned in the news for her investigation as well as Norman for helping the police in their investigation. Both Madison and Norman are interviewed on a talk show. Madison writes a book (titled "Heavy Rain"). She is at a signing and a creepy guy cnamed Vincent. After taking his book, Madison goes to take a look at his face but the man has disappeared. while Norman ditches the triptocaine after experiencing some more side affects from the ARI glasses. Lauren shows up at Scott's grave who is disgusted about the truth. She spits on his grave before leaving.

Oh on a side note, during the installation did anyone make the origami? I done it which came out all deformed. :D

My origami looks great; a nice little addition to the game which takes your mind off the installation process.

Just ordered this from ebay for £28.99, making me skint. It had better deliver.

I've played through the first few parts of this, and while I'm impressed by the story and the originality of the game, a few things disappoint me.

Some of the voice acting is off. It just sounds bad. Plus, there are times when the graphics appear shaky on screen. I know that happens in a lot of games, but when it's a game which is just like a movie that you're in control of, it's a shame to see things like this.

Another gripe is when you're given options about what to say to someone. There was a time when I was talking to Shaun and I had four options of what to say. It turned out I had to say them all at some point anyway, so there was no real reason why they had to go in any sort of order of my choosing.

During that conversation, I asked him if he was hungry. He said no. I asked him something else, then it was left with "Food" so I asked him if he was hungry again.

"Yeah, I'm starving!" - Fucking kids. He wasn't even hungry about fifteen seconds prior to that. >_>

Has anyone noticed how poor a good portion of the graphics are just so that the console can handle everything? In the mall, look at the guy's wife as she's walking with him and the kids - her top, around the stomach area is made of huge square pixels!

How long did it take you to complete it the first time?

How long did it take you to complete it the first time?

I got the game on Thursday and I could only play an hour of it which I think I got up to the crime scene (the one from the demo). After work I started playing it about 10:30pm and I played it right through to 6:30/7:00am. Once I completed it I went back and selected certain chapters to do them differently. The next day I started again.

I'm currently on my third playthrough up at the point Scott Shelby visits a caravan owner.

As someone said earlier, sometimes the voice acting can be a bit off, but I do think it improves as the game goes on.

The game has a few glitches that I had to exit and load again. The plot can seem a bit confusing or inconsistent but I won't go into them.

It doesn't stop me from enjoying the game.

Fantastic game and a great story.

I'm not going to explain my ending or anything, because a lot of it involves both of Eric Clyde's spoilers.

Will play through again next week.

Enjoying the game so far. A great storyline and the set pieces are good. Played about 5 hours so far. Its one of them games you want to keep playing.

My ending because it was late and I fucked up by rushing:

Ethan killed by Blake/police after rescuing Shaun and sparing Shelby

Jayden leaves FBI and ARI behind after accusing Blake of being the Origami Killer

Madison left struggling with her demons - didn't get the address off the laptop because I started rushing so couldn't call anyone

Shelby killed by Lauren

I know where I'm going back to in order to change it appropriately.

I haven't played this yet but I was talking to my bro about it last night since he's got it for the PS3. He said exactly what requiem has just said in the fact that he couldn't put it down once he got going, and he completed it quite sharpish. I'll probably be meeting up with him in a few weeks time, and he'll have his PS3 so I'll be having a plough through the game - shall be decent since I don't usually get to play these PS3 exclusives.

I've heard it's solely option based, so if you make a decision, you have to live with it all, true? Sounds very interesting if so.

About Jayden and Mad Jack:
Seems like I'm the only one who got killed by Mad Jack

Edit:
Where the hell are you now then?

I'm in Hertfordshire at the moment. It's actually where I was born and grew up before moving to Barbados for a while.

Played the first couple of hours, nice little taster of what's in store. Really compelling stuff.

It is compelling.

I got a few trophys in my first play through. But several of my main characters died. Which resulted in a very bleak ending. Maybe my difficulty setting was too high.

I'm bricking it now because I think Jayden just died. I'm not sure because one minute I was swinging a car door at someone, the next I was face down in the dirt and being dragged off, looking very much dead. I certainly wasn't hit hard enough by anything to be killed.
