I'm sorry if you suddenly seem I am a Fifa Fan Boy.

But to be honest, you know nothing about me. Plus the fact that I don't give two shits about what anyone thinks of me on this forum.

But I have been a lover of PES since......before I can remember. But this year Fifa is better.

I wont even both buying PES this year. The gameplay is horrific, it feels terrible, and looks as though there is a team full of robots playing.

This year is a REAL let down. But thankfully, EA have made a top quality game. I think Fifa 09 can be considered one of the best football games to be made.

Still, I will look out for the next PES and hope that it improves drastically. Here's to hoping.

If people are going to prefer one game over the other by creating a thread at least explain why you like the game? So far I've only read generalizations of why. Which usually leads to arguments. I have been neutral between FIFA09 and PES2009 but found some differences between the 2. Here is why I choose PES2009 over FIFA09:

-Game play is more suited for my taste.
-Ball handling, dribbling and some of the control aspects are intuitive to the game for me.
-Better ball physics. The ball doesn't give the impression of floating while in flight.
-IQ is better
-AI's reactions appear more life like in both offense and defense.
-AI players look more life like. For example: taller, fuller, etc w/o the camera being close up on them.
-PC version is similar to the console version
-More noticeable challenge when difficulty is increased
-etc

Now these and many more reasons why I found PES2009 more enjoyable over FIFA09. I have to be honest here. Although some like FIFA09 more I find it hard to grasp why a person can't specifically explain why.

Been playing FIFA solid for a week now. Very entertaining, good game, a lot of variation. Unlike previous versions, where you can score the exact same goal time and time again, this is different. I get into the same positions sometimes, but I might only score 1/10 chances from that position over a period of games. It is pretty unpredictable now and you actually have to play pass and move, rather than kick and chase. Well, I do anyway.

It still lacks responsiveness though, still pretty sluggish, especially when you want to quickly flick the ball past a player, or knock a quick square ball to a team mate etc.

PES demo is good, not quite good enough for next gen in my opinion.

PES has slowly been chugging it's way through year after year. Having played it for the last7/8 years. It's now shockingly clear which game has better gameplay, and please forgive me god...

...but it's FIFA.

Remember chaps - COMPETITION IS GOOD! If it wasn't for Pro evo, FIFA wouldn't have had to up their game so much! Maybe one day the power will swing back to PES but unfortunately this year, it's FIFA for me.

It does make one wonder if there is some ulterior motive here. If you notice most have very few posts.

Thats right it's all a huge conspiracy against Pro evo mate!

I am a Pro evo player that is giving his opinion that FIFA 09 is better - i'm sorry if this hurts your soul!

Actually no it doesn't. If you read my previous post adding some substance to your post shouldn't be to complicated. Or maybe I am asking to much?

Ok no worries dude:

> Player balance i.e. body shape, technique.
> Feels like you are engineering the chances/goals rather than running past everyone with a pacey winger.
> Goalkeepers are better/more realistic.
> Shots need thought (i.e. balance/angle/placement)
> in my opinion - the ball physics are realistic (modern day balls float)

all of course, in one humble man's OPINION.

nice debate

yeah this is a good point.

Why do we even need this argument on a PES forum? we shouldn't even be comparing the game we all love to FIFA.

If you wanna argue over the two games then post in a neutral forum somewhere like the PS3 discussion boards.

In my opinion anybody who posts on this forum has the right to say PES is great, the best game etc. Same will go for a FIFA forum about their respective game. But to be honest this is where we should be discussing the pros and cons of PES against other versions of PES, not against other football games.

I don't even understand why fifa fanboys sign up to this forum in the first place? I mean, i wouldn't sign up to a FIFA forum just to say PES is great!:erm:

Hmm thanks for the info. What you find as a con for PES I found as a plus. For example:
-The players on FIFA09 all look the same to me. Regardless of camera angle. PES2009 players look distinctive to me at distance camera angles.

-Upping the difficulty in PES2009 causes me to use more stragety then run pass defenders. With FIFA09 AI defense is all the same: get the ball, AI will always attempt a steal/tackle first then run with you. This is regardless of difficulty.

-Goalkeepers in FIFA09 block more shots but do so at the cost of realism and proper animation. For example, they seem to be able to hop along from one end of the goal pole to the other if you up difficulty. And, I notice a lack of proper animation (and time) when going from prone on the ground to standing position. Also, maybe it's just me but I don't see enough deflections vs. grabs.

-Shots need thought because it's very likely the GK will take the ball. IMO there should be more 2nd chance opportunities through deflections. I found this more frustrating then a proper challenge.

-I found the ball physics to be a bit slow and floaty when the ball is kicked hard. I notice this most when kicking goals, GK kicks and corner kicks. Maybe that explains why the GK is able to grab more goal attempts (because the ball appears to travel slower then normal for my taste during hard kicks).

PES murders Fifa

Hi,

I have downloaded both the Fifa 09 PC demo and the PES 2009 PC demo.

Fifa was just a complete waste of time utter rubbish. The graphics were just pointless the ball physics adn camera angles were wrong.

PES 2009 on the other hand graphics look awesome and ball physics are realistic. It is much harder to score on top player now defenders close you down quickly

PES 2009 has officially murdered K.O Fifa

On PC only. The 360 and PS3 versions of FIFA 09 are entirely different so we can't make easy judgements.

I've played FIFA09 on the console and found the fundamentals of game play similar to the PC. On the console it may look better but using the same game pad on both the PC and console game play is similar. What game play did I miss that made the console version better then the PC?

What is actually better in fifa
My thoughts exactly. What did I miss on the console that made game play so much better vs the PC? We all know that the PC is using a PS2 port but, what game play make FIFA09 on the console better then the PC version of FIFA09?

Face it guys. PES fans are telling the people who like Fifa this year to "fuck off". Well, if you look at the official Fifa thread, there's many established members of this board that have bought and really like Fifa, myself included.

Why are most people on here so protective of their chosen game? Some people like FIFA, some people like PES - ultimately, they're both football games and neither is going to go away any time soon (hopefully), so what difference does it make if someone prefers the one you like less? If I decide to buy FIFA this year (which I probably won't, because even those who like FIFA largely admit the PC version is crap) and find it to be better, I won't be afraid to admit I was wrong. Why is it so hard for people to admit they're wrong on an anonymous forum?

Why buy Fifa? Why do you not want to play free flowing football with realistic faces, exiting gameplay, weather effects, a ball that flies through the air rather than a ball that plays in slow mo.

Fifa is so unrealistic that i cant take anyone who loves it seriously. Its not opionon its just gaming fact that Pes is better and the 1 thing which proves it catagoricaly is when you ask a fifa fan "Would you choose it over pes if pes had all the lecenses?"

Oh for feck's sake. That goes beyond missing the point. Getting the wrong end of the stick is one thing, but you've gone and grabbed a brown snake in a blind attempt to latch onto anything brown and stick-like.
