Is anyone actually getting excited about either game this year? Or have the years of lies by both companies scarred us so badly that we no longer give a toss until we play the damn games. Reading the forums it seems like the buss is no longer what it used to be, apart from WENB where you have to buzzing to take any shit that you read on that dump seriously.

So far this year, Ive seen a video of PES 2012 where AI controlled defenders are running away from the striker allowing him a free run on goal, this is part of the new and improved AI which apparently sets it apart from pes 2011 (I'll fucking believe that when I see it lol)

Other than that, there are a few screenshots of Robinho looking like he's about to get an angina attack on field and Wesley Sneijder looking like he's gonna force one out right in the middle of the san siro. NOT Impressed.

The next SHIT im seeing people are talking about is this ''impact engine'' in fifa, saw the video when it was leaked online, felt like taking a long leak afterwards, endless video of a bunch of cunts realistically rolling around on the floor aint gonna make me wack out another 40 pound on fifa 11.5, no mention of bug fixes, and increased player indviduality from what I can see, and to be honest, even if they told me that shit was in there, I wouldnt believe them.

So, does anyone still give a toss about either game? Anything to be genuinley exicted about, or are we looking at a bunch of turd's ala 2010?

I suspect dear boy this could be a contender for thread of the year if it sparks the debate I expect it to.

I'm fairly apathetic about PES2012, for everything I like about PES2011 there are issues I just cannot stand. I said last year if PES2011 wasn't the bees knees I wouldn't bother with the series and yet I've persevered. I don't really want to have to do that with PES2012, if its just PES2011.5 as I've read then I think I will stick to playing it round my mates house and that'll be that.

Like Smink, I have a major apathy towards PES. 2009 & 2010 really killed any love for the series. I do hope that 2012 brings a return to the quality gameplay I know and still love from the earlier versions, but I find it really difficult to believe it will.

I actually used to be excited about oncoming PES games, not anymore. Its probably to do with the fact I'm older, and more cynical about life in general, but after all the false promises and hype, I'm like "I won't believe it, until I actually play it". 2011 was a step in the right direction, a lot of the major cobwebs were blown off, but some stubborn grime still remains.

PES has become like England before a major tournament. Lots of hype, how this year is going to be the year we blow you all away, and when it comes around, its a bit of a disappointment.

More excited about FIFA for the first time.

PES movement and passing animations is still looking fucking horrible.

This year more than ever, im finding it difficult to get interested in this whole football game malarky. Whether you like fifa or pes, both companies have done a downright DISGRACEFUL job on the new hardware, no wonder people are still fucking with PES 6 options files, they ought to be ashamed of themselves, you dont play Call of Duty Modern warfare and then think about playing Call of duty on PS1 instead cos half the shit that made the game good in the 1st place is missing.

And after all this, Konami think that Im going to get excited, cos they showed a pic of robinho as a crack cocaine addict?

As for fifa's impact engine, I dont give a shit if the physics are so realistic.. John Terry's balls swing when he's hitting his team-mates wife from behind....who gives a rats ass about that, sort out the fucking bugs, sort out the scripted gameplay, the 50 1 on 1's per game, add some goal variety and some indivdiuality.....fuck sake.

Bang on. At home, I have a PS3, that me and my brother share. Since I've been living away from home because of uni, I brought the PS2 console and some games with me, as he's not going to be using any of them. I'm playing PES6, and actually enjoying it more than 2011 and all the other next gen versions. That worries me.

I think Konami and EA have severely exploited the fans by only offering gradual improvements each year. Its like a small handout to keep the consumers coming back for more.

Its akin to selling E tablets that are cut with paracetamol, you're not getting the buzz you were expecting ... ok maybe not as that's a bit out of context ... ok, its like FOX fleecing fans by only releasing portions of Family Guy on DVD to squeeze more money out of sales for one series.

When I see the graphics and gameplay on games like Mass Effect it makes me question how the game engine for PES is still so primitive, surely the hardware is capable of offering more ... or working properly so cursor switching works. Maybe my expectations are just unrealistic, perhaps I ought to wait until the PS8 is released and PES will be a VR game.

What some people seem to forget is that sports simulation with an expected yearly release is it's own worst enemy.

Take the Madden series. At first it was a breath of fresh air, then that air stagnated as all we seemed to get was a yearly roster update and a few gimmicks. Then a couple of years ago, they changed something. Tightened the gameplay, added better control features. Better collision detection and animation and added a new minty freshness. Madden was rebuilt.

Perhaps the same should now happen to PES? Perhaps a year without PES might be a good thing. Time for Konami to take stock. Rebuild. Replace. But most importantly, get back to what it did best. Be playable.

Great thread, humerous as usual with a real relevancy to the point still.

I used to get really hyped up about the release of new PES info and screenshots and be excited on the day new information was said to be released. I've not even bothered to look at any PES 2012 info yet, and didn't even realise any had been released, such was my lack of care. It says a lot when, as pointed out by you Tech, that we all overlooked opening up the PES 2012 section purely because of our dying interest in the brand.

Obviously as we get older we stop playing, or may reduce playing time of games, so this is another possibility. Even with PES 2011 I did enjoy it for the first few months without a doubt, but obviously it became tiresome afterwards and I went back to the better game more worth my time (COD Black Ops).

I'm more than disillusioned with the PES franchise now, and the FIFA series is ridiculously dull when it comes to single player and career. Nothing can beat the PES Master League structure, it's just a shame Konami can no longer match that structure with gameplay to make it worth playing for longer than a couple of months.

You know what ive seen people asking for.....2K sports to make a football game, now I dont play 2K games because im not into american sports, but fuck me, the newest nba 2k looks fucking awesome, it looks like a fucking broadcast for real and apparently its quite a stats driven game (?) anyways a few people now have said 2K sports could bring out a game that could murder fifa and pes.

Personally, If anyone wants to lend me 100 million and some programmers, Ill make ''tech_skill soccer '', mark my fucking words, I could make a game that would fucking DESTROY the cunt games of today.

'' He's in on goal, one on one, He's fucking missed it!!! What a fucking knob, 5 yards out and he missed it, I wouldnt trust this guy to finish his dinner, let alone a chance like that"

Or as I exclaimed the other day during a PES league with my mate

"Why in the name of Fuck did he fling himself at the ball the useless cunt?!? He only had to stand up and volley it! TWAT!"

I actually use Jon Champions commentary for real life scenario's

"He'll take some stick for that!"

I am a lot more interested in watching the behavior of the fans in the home page of PESGaming or in WENB, than in the actual game. I have well and truly replaced PES with other means of entertainment, and therefore could not care less about PES12 nor about FIFA12.

The fact that a d-pad video game such as the latest version of Mortal Kombat is much more playable than PES11, says it all really.

And PES11 initially wasn't all that bad, but it's just that when you make the jump from PES5 on the PS2 to PES11 on the PS3, you notice that the game is essentially the same old bullshit.

It's now gotten to the point where fans are actually excited by nets and by weather effects, the vast majority of fans no longer give a fuck about gameplay, and that's because the vast majority of fans who bother playing PES11 are a new generation of fans who never played ISS nor PES5, etc.

The bottom line is that $60 on a yearly basis is a sweet deal, and things will not change if Konami continue selling more or less the same amount of games on a yearly basis.

The honest truth is this, the future of football game in my eyes is the following.

Basically, the nucleus of the game is the code which controls the AI, Physics, Player abilities, graphics etc.

You create this and sell it, lets call it Soccer Version 1. This is the code which defines how objects in the game interact.

You then allow the visual aspects of the game to be fully customised and I mean everything from the music, to the opening screens, to the scoreboards....everything.....by the user. That way, people can update anything visual as they choose.

Instead of releasing a new 'game' every year, when sufficient improvements have been made in the core code which defines how the game behaves, you sell the updated code which people would buy in droves, the code changes the game play yet still allows users to completely implement any visual changes they see fit).

I bet you were shaking your fists in a comedic fashion when you read all these post

I'll admit, I liked MLO, but it needs work. God damn cursor glitching and being raped by Arshavin
