I just had my first match. This game is really good. I was The Rock vs Cena. Match was just going back and fourth. Tons of reversals, kick outs and big moves. Cena kicked out of three of my finishers and I kicked out of his. I got beat by a really shit move in the end, cause I was battered.

One thing I like is that you can really feel the momentum that you are building up. At one point I was just hitting strings of moves and there seemed to be nothing he could do to stop.

That's really reassuring to hear. It seems like their could be some weight to the scores of positive reviews the game is receiving then.

I can't wait to get my hands on this come Christmas day hopefully. I'm definitely excited about it.

I love the sound of the momentum build ups. It would certainly imitate the real article, so that sounds like it'll get a big thumbs up from me. You'll have to keep us in the know about your matches Joel brother.

Have you run into any of the glitches yet or the server problems on CC?

Keeps fucking around. Keep getting server is down message. Hopefully it will be fine for tomorrow, since it's the official release date.

So far, I'm impressed. Matches just feel more fluid and it's a real challenge. I played two other games after Punk (me) vs HHH and Bryan (me) vs Rhodes. Won both of them. Kind of dominated as Punk, but got lucky as Bryan. Had to reverse a finisher and put Rhodes in two Lebell Locks, before he tapped. He dominated most of the match, but I just picked my moments well.

I don't think people will be able to win in minutes anymore, as wrestlers don't pick up damage quickly like before.

Trying to sort out Universe now. I've put WcW Nitro on Mondays and I'm moving Raw to Fridays. Got rid of Smackdown.

Got rid of the Spinner title, replaced it with the Attitude title. Got rid of the current (well not so much anymore) IC title and replaced it with the classic title. Those are for Raw. World title and US title are for Nitro. Got rid of the current tag titles and replaced them with the World tag titles (the ones that were on Raw). Got rid of the Divas title and brought back the Womens title.

The only thing I hate is that you can't vacate titles in the Universe mode. It sucks, as you have wrestlers showing up with titles you don't want to see. So, I'm going to just make a random CAW and put all the titles I don't want to use on him and never use him, so I won't have to see the shitty Champions of Champions title and the others I don't wish to use.

What's play.com delivery like?

You should get it tomorrow.

It is a bit amateurish I have to say, especially as they were bigging up their new server to correct the problems in the past. It better get sorted. If I can't download caws and arenas, this game will offer very little to me, despite the gameplay improvement.

Sounds like you have to do a lot of management to get the universe you want. Heard it's impossible to have a completely caw universe, which contradicts everything said before release.

Sorry for the double post.

So far what I've played it's been/ feels great. I like the new grapple system how they changed it around it really ties down.

Mind you I'm still getting use to this new grapple/control system. Had few matches, finally they got rid of, when you beat a opponent within a minute or so. Still have to have few more matches before starting RtWM.

Overall really good stuff.

How would you guys react to the idea of a WWE vs WCW game ever being released.I was talking about it with a few mates and there is definitely the potential for it to be a good game but we were all a bit worried about how it would be executed.

I really like this game. I mean, yeah it has some unnecessary annoyances, but overall, it's a solid improvement especially in the AI and how he reacts. last year, the AI destroyed the experience in many situations, but now, it's much better. They reverse more, and overall, are more unpredictable than before.

Extreme positives are:
Finishers and sigs and how they work out.
- if you reverse a finished, you have a super finisher and more momentum too
- the cycle can continue if your opponent reverses your super finisher. A total WWE moment.
- 5 star matches against the AI can finally be made - like a finisher from both superstars and a near fall, and then all of sudden, you can strike with another unpredictable finisher that you had stored some time before. An awesome feature.

Positives that can still improve:
- the grappling system is much better this year, but I feel that it can react faster in certain situations. Maybe a patch fix?

-Jumping moves. Seriously, sometimes the AI will never face you, it's annoying as the move won't hit if your opponent is not facing you. I love the timing that they added, but I hate how sometimes the AI responds to it.

-AI reversals. I feel that they are sometimes a bit predictable. They reverse almost 100% after 3 hits, strikes or grapples. They need more unpredictability and THEY NEED TO PAY MORE ATTENTION TO THEIR MOMENTUM METER. It is an improvement on last year in this case, but I feel that it can improve more.

Oh and customization is AWESOME. The CAWs look much better. Painted tattoos are blended better if you are creative with colors.

Overall, this game is a solid 8-8.5/10. Easy. Because it is really fun.

BELIEVE
This sounds very promising Shaun, thanks for the review. :)

I've been hearing really great things about WWE '12, and how it's an improvement over recent years. It's been getting great reviews everywhere I look, except one place - the one place I usually trust more than anyone; Gametrailers. Their video review however looked very poor in terms of depth, and they seemingly skimmed over a lot of the features, and even branded the AI as 'too difficult' in terms of reversing your moves. What thankfully eased my mind though was the outpouring of comments for the Gametrailers review, with the majority saying that the review itself appeared incredibly rushed (it was only released last week!), and that it didn't go into great detail...about anything.

IGN gave WWE '12 a 9/10, which I think sounds closer to the mark than Gametrailers 6.2 or whatever it was.

I can't wait to get this for Christmas, as it's my main present that I've asked Santa for. :D

^Yes, the AI does reverse your moves alot more now and sometimes it may get irritating, but again, this year, it's all about the timing. You cannot just keep pressing the reversal button as it won't work. You have to press it at the right moment. Oh and if the AI reverses your moves, you can counter it back if you are good and reverse their's. ;) So it's not a really big deal, if you know what you're doing and if you watch WWE in real life. This game is all about momentum shifts.

With momentum, you have a bigger time window for reversals, and you also move faster in the ring. Another great addition. :D Don't worry, you will like the game once you get familiar with it's mechanics.

Still think you/we need to have a mess about with the match sliders, I'm gonna try that next time I'm on.

It's decent. Gameplay is a little too much on the fast side for me, and some of the animations just look stupid when you reverse a move, especially running grapples.

At least the server is working better now. Managed to download a good load of old school wrestlers and arenas last night, but still haven't been able to download the Warrior caw I want. Forgive me Master.

BELIEVE

"THQ's third downloadable content (DLC) pack for WWE ’12 features three former WWE Champions in its "Legends Pack": "Macho Man" Randy Savage, "The Animal" Batista, and "Hardcore Legend" Mick Foley.

The "WWE Legends Pack" will be available this winter, featuring the three playable Legends, plus WWE Superstar Brodus Clay, who will be available as a free download for all players. Each will be available individually for $0.99 each (on PlayStation 3), or 80 MS Points (on Xbox 360)."

Source: WWE.com

80 MS Points per Superstar seems very reasonable. I'll be happy if it's the very same price in the UK also - I don't see why not.

People make the characters anyways, so you can just download them free.

Just played with a downloaded Goldberg vs Jeff Jerret. Was fun, am actually enjoying this alot more now than when I got it.

But then they're taking up slots that could otherwise be used more effectively.

If the price was high, then it's understandable, but given each one is the price of a can of Coke, it's hardly denting the bank balance - and you're getting a slightly more accurate character.
