Like how AC:R is just AC:B with a few add-ons? :hmm:

LBP allows you to create platformers. LBP2 allows you to create platformers, RPGs, rhythm action games, retro remakes, top down shooters, movies, music, even board games for crying out loud! Sure, if you just play the story mode, there isn't a great deal of difference. Even I've managed to create Checkers, a Battleships remake, and a Snake remake (with multiplayer and powerups and shit)..... and I'm an idiot! I think that's slightly more than a few add-ons if you ask me.

A fair point, but to me, having played both LBP1 and 2, and both ACB and ACR, for me, ACR feels like a new game, whereas LBP2 just didn't really. There were of course some new features, but I just got bored of it pretty quickly. The story mode's okay, but I suppose the novelty of creating your own levels just wore off for me after LBP1 and I didn't think they did enough to make the level-creating interesting again.

I think it's also pretty hard to compare the two, as ACR is an action/adventure type game, whereas LBP is pretty unique, but, in terms of which one I got the most fun out of, ACR already wins, hands down.

Off that list I've played:

L.A. Noire
Deus Ex: Human Revolution
FIFA 12
Forza Motorsport 4
Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
and Sminkzone 3

I can seriously say that my vote is sealed though. I've played many hours on Skyrim already, yet have barely scratched the surface. LA Noire was special in it's own way. Amazing facial animation allied to some fun investigative work, but there was a certain stifling liniarity and by the end of the main story it lost some of the joy of the earlier sections.

Deus Ex also had it's moments. Innovative and interesting in equal parts, but it somehow never quite felt as innovative as the original PC version (yeah I played it on it's release...)

Killzone was crap. Too much booyah!, yankee's save the world bullcrap which frankly ruined a pretty shooter with some meaty weapons.

FIFA, well, that was just footy.

Forza is my fave game, but only as I really liker cars. It's a game I get involved in for more than just being a racing game. I do it to collect the and modify and tune the cars too.

All that leads to Skyrim. It's large, varied, non-linear to the point where you can just be a blacksmith for a week, then maybe work at the lumbar mill for a bit and just ignore the war, dragons and plethora of dungeons. Despite it's flaws, it offers so much for the money. This makes it a clear winner for me.

Well they made it a lot simpler for people like me to make a load of complex stuff, I didn't make anything in create mode in the last game.

I know it's hard to compare LBP and ACR.... in fact it's pretty much impossible because they don't really have anything in common. The only reason I brought it up is because you voted for ACR as your game of the year, a game that has made little progression over the past 12 months, whilst at the same time you slate LBP for its apparent lack of progression. I haven't played ACR yet, I'm just going on what every review says about it.

I'm half tempted to vote for LBP2 actually (not just to spite Bammers ).

I wasn't planning to vote until a few weeks time but just done the fifth dungeon in Zelda, no game is getting close to this for me this year.

My top 3:

Skyward Sword
Ico HD
Yakuza 4

Skyrim has the potential to enter this list, but I need to play it more.

I would disagree with this, but, at the same time, I think Assassins Creed is more about the story-line than LBP, so it's perhaps not as pressing for them to 'make progression', in terms of what it's possible to do, in order to create an enjoyable game. All I know is, having played both Assassins Creed Revelations and LBP2, I've found the former very enjoyable, and probably the best Assassins Creed yet (completed it today :smug: ), while the latter never really 'worked' for me. That's just my opinion, of course.

I'm not denying that AC is a good game... I'm sure it is, I'll get it when it's a bit cheaper, I just don't think it should be on this list. I hate the direction they've gone - bringing out a new one every year. I think this is alright for sports games, where you only have to make a few changes, but not epic free roaming story games like AC. That's just my opinion, of course.

I'm going to say L.A Noire. Haven't played Batman or Skyrim yet, Deus Ex would probably be my second choice.

Killzone3 ... And this from a man who is not a fan of FPS.

My other choices this for this year are Fallout New Vegas, Assassin's Creed Brotherhood and Need for Speed 2 hot pursuit. Yeah I've missed out some huge titles here but I just didn't round to playing them.

I know lad. Hence the final sentence.

It takes me months to finish games or I get so engrossed they become all I play. Killzone3 is the only new title released this year that I've played this year. I doubt I'll hit Skyrim until next year.

*RETIRED*
Deus Ex was rather good except for the boss fights which were out of place. FIFA 12 is good.

Neither comes close to Skyrim though.

Mass Effect 3, Risen 2 and Diablo 3 look the stand-outs for next year.

Ah GTA, its like Joel has stated previously, it would be a better game if it had less bloody car chases. I hope there's a greater variety in mission modes.

Yeah, GTA IV was hardly an amazing game. Visually it was wonderful, the environment was immersive, but the game itself became quite boring, fast. I believe I only reached around 35% completion before stopping.

I do have very high hopes for GTA V mind. Back in sunny San Andreas.
