Ah GTA, its like Joel has stated previously, it would be a better game if it had less bloody car chases. I hope there's a greater variety in mission modes.

Yeah, GTA IV was hardly an amazing game. Visually it was wonderful, the environment was immersive, but the game itself became quite boring, fast. I believe I only reached around 35% completion before stopping.

I do have very high hopes for GTA V mind. Back in sunny San Andreas.

These two quotes are evidence enough to never listen to game reviews from you guys.

GTA IV was shit. Too grim dark serious for it's own good and too much "hey cousin lets go bowling". I loved VC for being a send up of the 80's era with ridiculous characters and cliched scenes, GTA IV tried too hard to be real.

Saints Row 3 is ridiculously OTT so it has gone in completely the different direction to GTA IV, but still, it is slightl too crazy.

I had already discredited your opinion on games so nothing changes after this statement.

I have very little experience of SR2, I don't think there is any bedding in. Just dive straight in and enjoy the ride!

Let's not forget about the likes of Grand Theft Auto V and BioShock Infinite.

Although I played GTA IV this year (originally had a hard drive failure when playing in what I think was late 2008/early 2009), I stopped being particularly excited after San Andreas.

Not convinced by BioShock Infinite either although I may still play it.

I am, however, quietly looking forward to Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning among others that I haven't mentioned. I doubt they'll hit the heights of the other three that I did mention though.

Can't believe the hate in here for GTA IV:facepalm:
Stick to saints row with your shit game engine and awful story.

Mak, GTAIV was a bit average. I didn't hate it, I wasn't amazed by it though.

Oh definitely. It's just the "in" thing though, that if someone doesn't particularly 'like' another person, or thing, then it's easier to call them a "hater" than to actually assess where they really stand.

I wouldn't take the comment too seriously.

Certainly haven't squire, I'm far too long in the tooth

Next year in terms of games I will purchase is thus:

Hitman: Absolution
Mass Effect 3
GTA V

And thats it ... must be an age thing but my gaming interest is much diminished ...

I'm not as ancient as you but i feel exactly the same. The only shit games i can really put up with these days is trying to find the breaking in period are with new pes's.Which certainly lt isn't to be found this year.

I forgot about the new Hitman game.

I am skeptical though, probably just because it's been so long, that I doubt it'll meet my expectations. I've contemplated going back to Blood Money, but I don't want to potentially ruin the great memories of playing the game, in case it disappoints me. :(

Oh no Thomas Hitman Blood Money is a classic, yeah its fairly basic compared to many games of today but its so much fun. I've got it for the PC, I may install it on the laptop and give it a whirl again :D

Yeah the key to going back to games is not expecting too much. If you go back to it thinking it's going to be as revelutionary as it used to be, then you will be in for a nasty shock, this goes without saying. Just go and have a laugh on it.
