PES 2016 Demo Discussion

I have noticed it a few times, but it seems more "manageable" than 2015.

Good.

I've found scoring more difficult in general this year, as I'm getting used to the demo. One thing I have noticed with the controlled shots - in 2015 they always seem to try to curl it, whereas in 2016, they often try to place it. I made a thread on here about how difficult it was (in 2015) to score controlled shots across goal. Seems easier to do in this one.

Better.

It's far worse than in 2015 IMO. Was a lot easier to cover the positions in 2015. Plus, even when you do cover the positions in the 2016 demo, the AI keeper will still play a short pass, and the invisible barrier around the box will stop you from intercepting. Is it an actual football rule that you can't enter the box on a goal kick until another player has touched the ball??

Well, shit.

....................

Maybe this already was covered up there, but does the defence still manages to somehow intercept 99% of lobbed passes, like they know where you want to pass and where to stand?

There is an invisible barrier in 2015. It happens when the GK takes the free kick, won't allow you to enter the box until the defender touches the ball.

I know, and I hate it. That's why it should have been fixed.

Can't expect too much eh?

Can't expect too much eh?

Expecting them to fix simple things? Don't be daft!

In fairness though, they have fixed a few of things that irked me:

1) Edit formation and position is now done in the same screen (please don't tell me this was always possible!). So if you make a sub, bringing on a SS for a winger, and want to alter his position, you can do it all at the same time - you hold :x: to move position, and press :square: to change the role (on the PS that is).

2) When you get tackled, players losing the ball don't seem to just stop dead as they did in previous games.

3) You can view replays at full speed!

I'm in heaven. Just #1 already made me go ahhhhhhh............ And #2!, the future is here!

I was always amazed as why they'd think removing #1 was a good idea.

I played two games last night, both Bayern (me) vs Juve. It was on Professional, as I'm slowly getting back into PES. Overall, I liked it, but, first on impressions, a few things bugged me:

-The GKs seem to dive slowly. Reminds me of Shilton in the Italia 90 WC shootout. I've haven't encountered the parrying problems, though.

-The CPU seems to like play long through balls a lot. I'm hoping this is just Juve.

-Is there a trick make players go to the ball when receiving passes? They either don't move, or take too long to react, when trying to move them to the ball.

I'll play some more over the weekend, hoping to get a better feel and move up some levels.

There is a skill move where the player nutmegs the opposition, then runs past him to receive the ball, how do you do this?

No there isn't a trick. It's been like this in the past 5 games at least! You don't have any control over the way the player receiving the ball moves, until he actually receives it!

Christ! It's a basic thing, or at least you would think.

its the best way the CPU can stop u getting to a free ball, just have your player take his time to pick it up, but have a CPU defender beat you to it by a nanosecond. Feel like i witness this all the time in 2015

The passing is very similar to 15. The only difference I see is that its a bit more responsive, If anything Superstar is easier this year I feel. The emotions, or momentum or scripting others call it(called emotions in the game), seems to have been toned down. Teams are less powerful and fast compared to what they were, which is a good thing as it was over the top especially on Superstar last year.

I scored a screamer of a volley from outside the box with oscar and a few other shots, so yes thats fine.

In over 15 games I've played only once has the AI on Superstar tried to dance through the box from the wing. So thats been toned down. That contradicts with Ali, but thats my experience with it.

Hi Ratmonkey, thank you for the reply

If scripting on Super Star LV has been toned down, thats good, in PES 2015, scripting is very severe and makes the game annoyingly difficult, I can handle hard games, but not irreversable frenzy scripting, its a nightmare when AI always equalize no matter how many goals you scored, not realistic at all.

Regarding with AI player dancing through from the wing, if there is something you can do to stop it its cool, if not, then be it, you know sometimes CPU must find a way to score, its part of this game, I ll have to take that. I reckon this game on Super star LV encourages you to score more goals.

One thing I'm finding is that it's way too easy to score headers from corners, every time it goes to the opposite corner and beats the keeper.

In 15 anyway, its when you double tap sprint for speedburst while pushing the stick in the direction of the defender, when your close to them.

EDIT: I think it was called the run around. It might be in the command list.

The fact that you have to press the button twice to tackle is the biggest issue here for me. The attacker is dribbling all over the place very quickly. Its takes you an extra split second to hit the button twice, so the tackle is not exactly instantaneous. Which means that extra split second can cause you to miss a tackle because of how quick the attacker is moving. Although, the tackling this year does seem a little more responsive......when it works.

i have grown into the habit in 15 of using supercancel to try and get the intended receiver to break out of his trance. feels like it works sometimes but could be my imagination.

The game is great - but it has two problems on the highest level.
1.) If you try to play a direct pass to a player, this player can't move to the ball. This is annoying, because the opponent K.I. always starting to move to the ball.
So You can't play possession football in the midfield. You must always play long ball on the strikers...
2.) The oppenent K.I. always defending better, than my K.I.
The opponent Players covers my players perfectly - my players doens't cover the opponent. There is always too much space for a perfect pass and no pressure for them.
Thats like cheating, too... and a little bit annoying - You plays great but your K.I. plays like "ah, I think we should give them a goal." :D

Also:
PES needs animations for shoots and passing under pressure (and then the ball goes over the crossbar, passes goes to far or something like that).
I hate it, then you are in the box, tap the shot button and you player doesn't shot, because 2 defenders tries to tackle you everytime.
Sry, but each player in rl would and can shot under pressure ... :D

You would think, but it doesn't seem to work.

When you play a pass, your player moves in a pre-determined path. Especially evident when you play a through ball, and your player will often move alongside the ball for a bit, before collecting the ball. It's frustrating because you often lose a good chance because of this. Sometimes the play will miss the ball completely and let the ball go past him, which often happens if you play a sideways pass.

Noticed a big flaw with the CPUs out wide defenders at goal kick - it leaves them incredibly vulnerable down the middle. I played a match with Roma, playing wingers, both full backs were marked. The CPU keeper played it to the defensive mid, I won the ball back, and my striker was in ACRES (capped, underlined and bolded to emphasise how much) of space, leaving me with a simple finish. Was ridiculous.

Unrelated to 2015 per se but for those with a PS4, did online play require PS plus?

Yep.

One thing that caught my attention was the frame rate...clearly higher than FIFA 15 (I've mostly played FIFA but I had to give the demo a try.) It looked really "alive" (for lack of a better word.) I felt a bit more comfortable once I adjusted the controls to match FIFA so I wouldn't keep doing the wrong thing.
All in all I liked it...but like someone else said I couldn't quite put my finger on why.
