PES 2016 Demo Discussion

I usually dominate possession (60%+), so I'm not rushing around then, but I do like to pass and move.

PES2015 included in those stats?

................

There's something I'd like to know: when you shoot the ball from your GK using :circle: does it go all the way down the pitch or is the force adjusted as a pass to the farthest player (like in PES2015)?

I'm new to this. Used to play PES back on ps2 but pretty much fifa since next gen. I must say this game looks and feels like the most realistic football game to date.

My problems so far though:

I like how the pace isnt a big factor but say im neymar and i beat the defender I'm rarely able to run from them.

AI just keep passing it around their defence 90% of THE TIME. The GK rarely kicks it upfield though im guessing it may change depending on the teams.

How do you do skills and whats the special button for? I've tried looking at tutorials but nothing happens when i try the moves.

GK animation when throwing isn't realistic

You're right about the defensive pass and keeper passing. It's so annoying. I mentioned earlier in the thread that the AI keeper playing it short has a big flaw, in that if you play with 3 up front, it's possible to cover both fullbacks. The keeper will then play it to a midfielder. If you win the ball back, there's a very good chance your ST will be in acres of space, due to the fact that the CBs have pushed forward.

With regards to skill moves, my best advice is to look at youtube vids. Just search 'PES 2015 skills tutorial' or something.

Out of possession is what I mean. Teams being able to use team pressure all match without much an impact on stamina, would get head wrecking very quickly.

If you've been playin Fifa then you mightn't know that in order to run at full speed with the ball, you need to tap the sprint button twice between each touch of the ball. Just holding down sprint button like Fifa is a slower speed in PES. Possibly, thats your problem.

Injury time is still bollocks. Had a match where 1min was given at the end of the first half, but the match was still going on 7mins later!! No reason for it, other than the CPU being on the attack.

Yeah, its stupid. I see why it would give the advantage if your just finishing the last bit of injury time, but when it continues playing for ages afterwards its dumb. Needs to be sorted.

I think the game is far too assisted. Long lob through balls are too easy. They just land perfectly to the player with little effort on your behalf. I can see a repeat of 13 online. In fact, it feels easier that 13 in this regard. Even on level 1 assist its just too assisted. Imagine all the Real Madrid losers with this level of assist? Nightmare! It's bad enough as it is in 15.

You can kick passes a lot harder on 1 than last year, which is good, but the players control it far too easy. If I can over hit the pass then the player should be struggling to control it. Overall, level 1 passing though feels too assisted.

The ball also feels a bit too light, even on shots, but I think a lot of that is got to do with how assisted everything is.

The goalkeepers kicking it out to the wingers that Ali mentioned with that bloody invisible barrier stopping you from getting it until the player receives the ball is going to drive me nuts. Definitely worse than last year as the goalkeeper won't kick it up the field if your close to the receiver. Get rid of the fucking barrier. Worse idea of the century and amateurish.

I'm loving the tackling though. It's a lot better and rewards you with winning the ball if you're close enough. Much more contextual variety in it.

It's a good game overall and better than 15 in most areas, but it needs to be less assisted to make it excellent.

I like the demo without loving it. feels a bit less fun than 15, which I thought was really great (I only play against friends).

Question for you all - this issue where the receiving player cannot move towards the ball, and has to wait for it to get to them, it's a potential game breaker. Do you think that this just cos the demo is unfinished and it will be fixed before the final game? Or is it likely to remain? It does my head in...

I doubt it'll be fixed. This issue has been in every PES game since the dawn of time.

I think I found a way to overcome that problem. If you super cancel immediately after playing the pass, the receiving player seems to move forward. Not as much as he should, but seems to be enough. It's a lot harder than it should be, though.

Ali - Maybe I have a poor memory but I can't recall it being this much of an issue before now.

Dragonfly - interesting, but that shouldn't need to be the case! You should be able to control the receiving player as you would any other player, without having to revert to special button pressing!

I've been in my cousin's house for a few days, and as he owns a PS3 I managed to play and try the demo.

About the urging issue of not being able to rush the players towards a pass. I noticed it sometimes, but it also seems you can move them. I didn't feel this in previous versions of the series though.

I don't think it will be an issue in the finished game. It seems to be doable, we just need a bit more playing time to get the timing right. And even if it isn't, this seems to be one of the more adressed problems with the game so maybe Konami will to do something about it.

If you can't move the receiver to the ball, then he should at least try to shield it from anyone trying to intercept it.

That's one of the biggest improvements in the game, so big they overdid it.

In PES2015 there was a very frustrating moment when the player with the ball shielded it by releasing all the buttons, and it was impossible to counter. Your own player would die right there, and wake up again when the shielding animations stopped. Fucking stupid.

Now this kind of shielding is much more natural, but either I can't do it properly or it was pretty much removed altogether.

Once again: I still think you can rush the player towards the pass. If my memory isn't tricking me I think you just need to make him go almost immediately after you pass. If you wait too much he won't move. Or at least this was my perception.

Hmm. Maybe I don't need to do super cancel and then move, which is a lot of work for something that should be basic. I'll try just moving immediately, next time.

So finally tried the demo last week on XBOX One. Have played around 8 games or so, all against friends so yet to play against the 'computer'. It took me a little while before I actually won or even scored which is quite uncommon for me in Pro Evo.

I did have fun playing the games but it still feels extremely flawed and I can't see a vast difference between it and even previous games as far back as PES 2010. Player turning which has been a problem for me since PES 2011 is still clear to see. Slide tackling is rather fun however rather easy to win the ball.

Once again, I'm just not sure about the entire game. Granted it is a demo and the final game will be different (hopefully better), I just don't think it's worth £40. I didn't play last years game on purpose so that I'd see a noticeable different between 14 and 16 however I didn't notice many improvements.

Maybe some matches against the 'computer' will be a better test of how the games play.
