Tried fixing the PS3 - didn't turn out too well. So, I need to get a new one. Kind of annoyed, as I want a 60gb one, but they don't sell those versions anymore. I guess the best thing to do is look around first and then if I fail, I'll just give in and get the 250gb slim.

KK noob question here but wanted to be sure -

You know those CD/DVD cleaners with the disc with the little brush on it? Can you use them on the bluray drive of the PS3? Just wandered if there was a special thing you needed before doing it, my machine is starting to leave smudges on discs.

aright, does anyone know if I buy a movie on the American store, will it work properly on my UK PS3? Or will they have some licence block thingy active? I remember downloading some demos once that came out in black and white so was wondering if it will be a similar problem?

My ps3 got the YLOD last week:realmad:, its the original 60gb version, is well old like so has lasted quite well.
Took it apart and tried the fix, but still the same, will try again next week. Luckily im back to work in the next couple of weeks so wont be using it anyway. Will most likely buy a slim one when i get back at xmas, will have to see if i can get a good deal for one then.

My PS3 keeps freezing, ever since the last Firmware update I've found.

I'd like to feel that not only me is having problems. It'll crash so I'll need to restart via the touch button on the front of the console, then a window will come up saying the system hasn't been turned off properly and will tell me to do something, then it'll be all good.

Until it happens again, that is...

It's just happened to me this minute, while I've just been stood in the XMB not on a game...

Help? :mellow:

PS3 3D update

The update went live earlier in the day, and should be available for console owners to download now. The v3.50 update brings not only 3D support for Blu-ray movies, but it also gives owners the ability to take advantage of Facebook integration. Video game developers can now incorporate social networking features into their games, giving players one more way to boast about their high scores to their friends. Also included in the update, is a Grief Reporting Function. It allows players to report bad behavior and harassment online, via the XMB.

One obvious rule to the update, though: to take advantage of the 3D-goodness, you’ll need a TV that does 3D. You will also need to get your hands on some Active Shutter 3D glasses, as well as an HDMI 4.1 cable. If you’ve got all of that, then you’re good to go, and you can enjoy all the 3D you want.

PSN was down for a few hours last night (for me anyway)

When I tried to sign in it'd say that my username or password were incorrect, which is untrue...still to check whether or not it's fixed today

If I had a 3D telly (which I probably will never get in the next 10 years) I daren't play Call of Duty; I'd shit myself and think a semtex is going to stick me! :erm:

I'll also be getting Shadow Of Colossus. My brother managed to get it for free through his work, but the PS3 Slim isn't backward compatible. I'm glad this is coming out, becuase I've only ever heard great things about this game.

I haven't really used it that much. Things will change this weekend when Sky start their 3D coverage.
