Video Games you'd like to see made into Movies/TV Shows

Having just finished Assassins Creed Revelations, it struck me that the storyline of ACR, and indeed all the Assassins Creeds could very easily stand on it's own two feet as a movie or TV series. I think, in Assassins Creed's case it would have to be a TV series, with perhaps every game being a new series, as the story itself would need longer than three hours or so, to do it justice.

A game that I think would make a good film, however, would be Mirror's Edge. It already has a great soundtrack and the story line's decent enough as well. In order to give it the fulle effect which you receive when playing Mirror's Edge, the colours would have to be the same as in the game, and a lot of creative camera work would be needed for the free-running, in order to stop the sheer amount of it becoming boring to an audience in cinema, but I think it's do-able.

And, of course, Red Dead Redemption would make an incredible movie - there were talks of a film of it being produced a while back, with Brad Pitt as John Marston, but they appeared to have died down. Again, I suppose it might be a bit too long for a film to do the whole story justice, but it already has a great storyline and a superb soundtrack, so I don't see why it wouldn't work. Certainly, the intro, the ride into Mexico and the ending are scenes, which are imo already good enough for a movie.

PES: The Movie would also be interesting. Peter Brackley and Trevor Brooking would return as themselves and would heckle Jon Champion and Jim Beglin with their old commentary phrases, until Champion's and Beglin's heads exploded due to the awesomeness and Brackley and Brooking could re-take their rightful positions in the commentary box.

So, anyway, which video games do you think could be made into decent movies/TV Shows?

The likes of Max Payne, Prince of Persia, Resident Evil, Doom, Dead or Alive etc tell me that perhaps video game to movie adaptions are not the best thing. I've seen two good films those being SIlent Hill and Hitman.

However, that being said I would like a Half-Life movie.

I think Assassin's Creed would make a good movie. Hell, there's loads of games out there that would make a good movie given the right direction. I think TV show is another kettle of fish though, when you consider the budget. Unless you'd go all CGI like Spartacus, but I don't think that would work with AC.

I can't really think of any games that would make good TV shows at the moment.

BELIEVE
I'd be quite interested in seeing how BioShock could be conjured up for film. The story itself is amazing, so that box is ticked. The soundtrack itself, from 1960, is quite wonderful yet incredibly creepy at the same time. The main challenge with BioShock would be to create the underwater utopia itself. The splicers will require a lot of make-up, but they're easily manageable. I think overall, it 'could' work very well, it would just require a large budget and some serious artistic direction.

Halo, without question. The story, fighting, soundtrack is perfect for movie adaptation.

I know it's been done, and the last film was a shambles, but I still pray for a proper Mortal Kombat remake to be made, using a similar mood to how the Rebirth clip was made. Maybe now the video game series is back it could happen.

Red Dead Redemption and the Modern Warfare series are the obvious stand-outs, though it's difficult to imagine how movies would do them justice. Both would work better as HBO series', but the budget on the latter in particular would be astronomical and ultimately unfeasible.

I think Fallout would make a great TV show and would be able to cope with the episodic format.

With RDR and MW (in response to what Barn said), we've already had 2 similar shows in Deadwood and Generation Kill.

Take away the genres and really how are they similar? Awesome shows but completely different to what productions of RDR and MW would entail.

A PES movie, possibly titled The Return of Kazuki Ito (with something in brackets also added that relates to the scenario, but I'm unsure as to what that should sound like) directed by Scorsese or Tarantino.

Ok, fair point, but can you really see HBO (a network known for it's intelligent dramas) ever producing a show like MW? Because it's basically just about shooting the shit out of each other. Would be better on Fox or FX I think.

There are plans for a film to released in a few years time. Ubisoft have managed to gain a big chunk of creative control. I'm not sure if that means they're going to pick the director, overlook the screenplay, etc, but there would be higher expectations than if they weren't involved.

I think Red Dead Redemption, Uncharted and GTA would be obvious choices, maybe with the latter being a TV series, rather than a movie. I like a good post-apocalyptic film, so Fallout could be a good shout.

I'm not convinced either of those would have the budget for it. Certainly it would have to be a cable network.

Any show would inevitably focus more on the politics and small-scale operations of Modern Warfare, so I think HBO would suit it. Because most of the game operates around small teams so you'd only need a small window into combat zones rather than huge sweeping arcs sapping the budget. Band of Brothers and The Pacific have shown that they can do great war scenes, certainly comparatively better than any other network. The likes of The Unit and Over There were essentially shit.

Also we'd get no violence and adult themes if it wasn't on cable, it would be toned down.

Uncharted already is a film, or you know, a film experience.

A film set in The Elder Scrolls universe would be pretty grand.
