I beg your pardon?
Borderlands. Now here's a game I can get my teeth into. Sick of finishing story modes in a few sittings, this should keep me going for months.

Also dipping in and out of Fable III. And whatever shows up in my gamertag sig. Apart from Battlefield 3, which I only borrowed, but would probably play lots online if I had it.

Borderlands is a great game. Borderlands 2 is gonna be even greater. :)

It really is. Can't believe I dismissed it first time round.

I hope you can transfer your character or rewards or something from the first one. It's a lot of work. I think they are introducing new characters though.

Yeah, new characters. Completely new game as far as I know, ie no transfer. I think it kinda negates the point of the game, to have a fully levelled up character right from the start. Part of the fun of the game is to consistantly get more and more powerful, and get access to greater weapons.

I just hope they have the Hellfire SMG. I love those!

Ah man I bloody hated Borderlands, it got boring so fast and I just found it so repetitive ... but then I had just come from playing Fallout3 and was looking for another Open World game so it never stood a chance.

Speaking of Fallout, I'm playing FNV Ultimate Edition, playing on Hardcore but on normal difficulty, Deathclaws take 8 rounds of 50MG explosive rounds on Very Hard to kill effectively so you'd think on Normal they'd be easier to kill ... nope, bloody 30 damage threshold makes them a flipping nightmare to kill early doors.

I'm only on level 6 so far and I'm playing the game in order, rather than heading straight to New Vegas (via a nifty short cut between Black Mountain and Deathclaw quarry).

I'm avoiding all the cheats and glitches this time, I'm playing it thoroughly and I intend to max out the trophies as I did on Fallout3. I'm using a Cowboy build this time round and I didn't realise how handy having a high agility was, I'm drawing and reloading faster than the Outlaw Joesy Wales.

Sweey, how you finding it on the PS3? I stopped playng NV around the 40 hour mark (i'd done very little of the storyline to be honest) but certain areas would freeze on me, and I just couldn't be arsed.

However, saw this version (with all the DLC) for £25 on amazon and really tempted to bite.

edit - sminky even

I'm thinking of getting a shooter, but I must confess I know fuck all about modern ones, I've never got into any of the big franchises.

What should I go for? I don't want all this futuristic lasers-out-of-my-ass stuff, I just want grit, a variety of scenery and guns.

I think this meant for me, if not, I'll reply anyhow ... I got to level 50 glitching on the original version and the game would constantly freeze. In fact the in one night it froze four times, I think it was one of the reasons why I got rid of it. I just couldn't put up with it.

I'm hopeful, although sceptical they may have fixed some of the bugs on Ultimate Edition but the problem is Bethesda say some bugs cannot be fixed because at points the hardware simply cannot cope (let alone render) data. Also certain events at certain levels spark other game freezing bugs. Issues with code corrupting other code apparently.

I completed the early quest in Goodsprings where you see off the Powder Gangers and the frame rate was dire. It struggled to process everything that was occuring, normally the game would have froze but somehow it held on.

EDIT: I've not really touched the DLC, played a little of Dead Money and wasn't overly amazed and briefly sauntered into the Lonesome Road. I hear Honest Hearts and Old World Blues are the best purely for Armour and extra's.

Do you know what I've fancied the Fallout games for a while but never got them yet. I have Deus Ex, Red Dead Redemption, Mass Effect 2 and Fable 3 still to get through. Also got Riddick: Escape Athena/Butcher Bay to play. Too many games, not enough hours in the day. FFS I just realised I still haven't hardly touched GTAIV. It crashed last time I put it on and I think it's put me off even though I've historically bummed the GTA games.

Battlefield 3 is pretty amazing.
Call of Duty is way overrated in comparison.

There's always Halo? They are fucking epic. If you can get over the sci fi theme.

Yeah I did realise it was you, I did add a facepalm edit.

I don't think they did anything to improve the bugs/glitches or freezes. I amy just wait for Fallout 4 now. They are hiring for new staff on a next gen project, seeing as Skyrim just came out I doubt it will be another Elder Scrolls, so hopefully a brand new engine for FO4 on PS4, Wii U/Xbox next etc

Call of Duty. Great games, but just make sure you don't buy them every year because you barely notice a difference. It upgrades even less than sport franchises do - think they've been on the the same graphics engine for 4 years now.
